Man Utd new boy van de Beek hauled off after 57-minute ‘disasterclass’ for Holland against Italy

DONNY VAN DE BEEK completed just FIVE passes in a midfield “disasterclass” for Holland.

Manchester United’s new £38million signing was hauled off just before the hour mark of the 1-0 Nations League defeat to Italy.

The Dutchman was officially confirmed as a Red Devil last week after his transfer from Ajax was finally completed.

Since then, fans have been brimming with excitement at the prospect of seeing him line-up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

However, those feelings of expectancy suffered a dip tonight after his “disterclass” display for his country in the Nations League.

Nicolo Barella scored the only goal of the game in Amsterdam to hand the Italians victory.

But it was Van De Beek’s performance that had supporters tweeting after he was replaced on 57 minutes by Steven Bergwijn.

One tweeted: “Donny van de Beek first half: in total 2 passes and decided to pass the ball back in a 3 vs 2? Disterclass so far.”

Another wrote: “Van De Beek subbed off in the 57th minute. He had no impact on the game left quite a poor impression. If we only make 1 or 2 more additions besides him we are in big trouble.”

A fellow fan tweeted: “Van de beek Got pocketed by Jorginho today all game.”

A Chelsea fan commented: “Van De Beek pocketed by our 6th choice midfielder.”

The star will now return to Manchester to prepare for the new Premier League season.

United have been given this weekend off due to their late finish to last season in the Europa League.

They kick-off the campaign at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday 19 September.
