Man Utd embarrassed after Norman Whiteside’s wife sets record straight over Marcus Rashford appearance record

MARCUS RASHFORD thought he had written his place in the history books after Manchester United’s 4-0 thumping of Norwich.

Rashford, 22, marked his 200th appearance for the Red Devils on Saturday with a double.

The victory helped alleviate some pressure off the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the victory lifted his side up into fifth in the Premier League table.

Rashford was quick to tweet how happy he was after he believed he had become the third-youngest player to rack up 200 appearances for the Old Trafford giants.

But he probably hadn’t bargained on Norman Whiteside’s wife correcting him.

Whiteside’s wife, Dee, was quick to point out that her husband had surpassed George Best and Ryan Giggs in reaching the special milestone.

Tweeting in response to Rashford’s message, she wrote: “Think my hubby @NormanWhiteside was younger than all three of you in actual fact.”

Dee also got an apology from United’s official app editor Mark Froggatt, who tweeted: “Hi Mrs W. Apologies to you and Norm – the research quoted is incorrectly missing him from the list.

“I will update accordingly. Hope you’re having a nice weekend.”

Whiteside therefore still holds the record and made his 200th outing for United in September 1986 and he scored in a 1-1 draw against Leicester at the age of 21 years and four months.

He also lays claim to the record of being the youngest scorer in an FA Cup final which came in United’s 4-0 replay win over Brighton at Wembley in 1983.

Rashford will now have to focus his efforts on breaking other records instead now!
