A FOOTBALLER at one of Northern Ireland’s top Irish League sides has tested positive for coronavirus, it has been confirmed.
The Linfield player is self-isolating after the result which the club called “very unpleasant news.”

Chairman of Linfield Football Club Roy McGivern said the club was “taking advice from the relevant authorities and will provide an update when we have further details”.
He said: “Very unpleasant news that one of our players has tested positive for Covid-19.
“The priority now is to look after the welfare of our players and staff. Issues around football will be addressed in due course.”
Windsor Park, home to Linfield and Northern Ireland, was closed tonight as a two day deep clean got underway.
He released the statement after Ryan McGivern, who plays for Northern Ireland, decided to self-isolate after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.
McGivern will be absent for a fortnight after coming into contact with the Hanover FC player.
On Saturday one Hanover FC player tested positive for the virus and tests have since been carried out on others he had been in contact with.
