Five players Man Utd desperately need to get rid of this summer, including Sanchez and Pogba

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be given a £250million transfer kitty this summer – but he will also look to offload a big chunk of deadwood.

The Norwegian chief is continuing to put his stamp on the current Old Trafford squad, having now overseen two transfer windows as permanent manager.

Solskjaer has made some big-money signings, including £85million defender Harry Maguire, £50m right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes, who joined in a deal worth £55m last month.

Next on the horizon are Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Maddison, to name a few.

But first he is set to oversee a mass sale of his struggling stars in a bid to boost the coffers further.

We’ve taken a look at the five Man Utd players most likely to be sold this summer…

PAUL POGBA

THE 2018 World Cup winner has been itching to quit the club since last summer, when he revealed he wanted a “new challenge”.

Real Madrid and Juventus have been circling ever since, but a move has failed to materialise in the past two windows, with the European giants believing United’s estimation to be too high.

Pogba, 26, signed for United in 2016 in a then-world-record £89m deal, with Old Trafford chiefs now wanting around £150m.

The midfielder has played just seven times in the Premier League this term, failing to score – and is now certain to leave after an injury-plagued year.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ

THE Chilean flop cost Man Utd £505,000 a week while he was at the club – with bosses still paying him around £300,000 per week while he’s on loan at Inter Milan.

Now Old Trafford chiefs will hope they can offload the goal-shy forward as quickly as possible this summer in order to get his wages off the books if nothing else.

But they may not find it that easy, with Sanchez, 31, scoring just once in 13 games for the Serie A title-chasers this season – to go with one red card.

Inter have now claimed they will NOT make Sanchez’s loan move permanent.

JESSE LINGARD

THE one-time England star’s struggles since the 2018 World Cup have been well-documented.

Lingard, 27, has now failed to score in the Premier League since December 2018 as he struggles with personal problems off the pitch.

It now appears certain Solskjaer will look to offload the midfielder, particularly following the arrival of No10 Fernandes last month.

ANDREAS PEREIRA

PEREIRA is set to follow Lingard out of the club after Solskjaer unsuccessfully dabbled with both attacking midfielders in the No10 role this season.

With Grealish and Maddison two summer targets, it’s almost certain Pereira, 24, will be moved on.

He’s scored just once in 23 games this season in the Premier League.

PHIL JONES

ONCE tipped to be a future star by Sir Alex Ferguson, Jones’ career hasn’t quite panned out that way.

Jones, 28, has made just two Premier League appearances this season and is way down the pecking order in a desperately weak United defence.

Solskjaer will likely look to cash in on the former England star and use it to sign another big-name defender, with Kalidou Koulibaly a long-term target.
