Ederson loving life at Man City as world-class stopper hints he could extend deal past 2025

EDERSON has revealed he is loving life at Manchester City so much that he hopes to stay at the club well beyond 2025.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, 26, has been an invaluable part of Pep Guardiola’s squad since the boss ran out of patience with Joe Hart in 2017.

Ederson has already racked up 100 Premier League appearances – winning two league titles in the process.

But the former Benfica No1 has no plans to call time on his stint in Manchester – admitting he hopes to stay well beyond his current contract, which expires in June 2025.

Asked if he planned on staying at the Etihad for the long haul, Ederson told ESPN Brazil: “I intend to.

“It’s a league that I am passionate about, it is a league with many emotions.

“For those who follow from outside it’s already an incredible thing.

“For me, who used to follow and now I live it, it’s surreal.

“I have a five-year contract. I hope to fulfil the contract and if possible stay for longer.”

Ederson kept a clean sheet in the first game back from lockdown as Man City beat Arsenal 3-0.

Guardiola’s side next host Burnley on Monday night as they look to at least delay Liverpool’s Premier League title win.

The Etihad side sit 22 points adrift of Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Reds going into Sunday’s games.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva admitted he and his City team-mates have nowhere to hide from Guardiola now they’re playing in front of an empty stadium.
