Cristiano Ronaldo to play in second-string Juventus team vs Cagliari instead of resting to beat Immobile to Golden Boot

CRISTIANO RONALDO will line-up alongside a host of youngsters in his quest to land Serie A’s Golden Boot.

The 35-year-old superstar has bagged 31 goals for Juventus this term to help them win their ninth-consecutive title.

He scored the first in the 2-0 win over Sampdoria that sealed the crown but also missed a penalty.

With the Scudetto in the bag, boss Maurizio Sarri was expected to make major changes for the trip to Cagliari.

And the former Chelsea boss has opted to leave a host of star names at home with next month’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Lyon in mind.

However, he has surprisingly decided to include Ronaldo for the journey to Sardinia.

And his inclusion for the last away league trip could be down to his quest to win the top goalscorer award.

Ronaldo trails Lazio forward Ciro Immobile in the Capocannoniere battle by thee goals.

And now he only has tonight’s game and Saturday’s home clash with Roma to try and overtake him.

But the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid hotshot will not have his usual star-studded cavalry alongside him.

Danilo, Giorgio Chiellini, Matthijs de Ligt, Mattia De Sciglio, Sami Khedira, Douglas Costa and Paulo Dybala have all not travelled and been rested instead.

And eight of the club’s young guns have been drafted in as replacements in what may be a severely weakened Juve line-up.

Ronaldo, girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and his kids have been toasting his recent title triumph on the Med in recent days.

The couple both shared snaps of them on a yacht enjoying the sunshine.

And it has not just been Ronaldo who had something to celebrate after girlfriend Rodriguez bagged a deal with fashion outlet PrettyLittleThing.
