Chelsea told to fork out £40m by Porto for full-back Alex Telles transfer as Marcos Alonso replacement

CHELSEA may need to stump up £40million if they wish to sign Alex Telles as a replacement for Marcos Alonso.

The Blues have made several attempts to prise the Brazilian left-back away from Portugal’s Primeira Liga leaders Porto, according to A Bola.

Their efforts follow rumours that Alonso could be seeking a move back to Italy and a switch to Inter Milan.

The Spanish wing-back, 29, spent three years with Fiorentina between 2013 and 2016 before joining Chelsea for £23m.

Telles, 27, has a £40m release clause in his current contract that Porto officials are hoping to take advantage of.

And the highly sought after defender, who is also on Dutch champions Ajax’s radar, has rejected a lucrative extension.

With his current deal ending in 2021, Porto are looking to cash in at the end of this season to avoid losing the Brazilian for free.

And Frank Lampard’s Blues may face competition for Telles’ signature from at least one of their top four opponents.

Leicester could be gearing up to make a rival bid.

Scouts from the Foxes, who are currently third in the Premier League, are rumoured to have travelled to Portugal to see Telles in action.
