Chelsea starlet Conor Gallagher set for another loan transfer after impressing at Charlton with West Brom leading chase

CHELSEA’S exciting young midfielder Conor Gallagher is set for another season-long loan deal, this time at Prem new-boys West Brom.

The England Under-21 player, 20, has previously enjoyed impressive loan spells in the Championship at Charlton Athletic and Swansea.

Stamford Bridge chiefs are confident that he can progress even further with Premier League experience under his belt.

And Baggies boss Slaven Bilic is confident he can get the youngster to spark his side.

Gallagher scored six goals for the Addicks during his loan spell in the first part of the season.

Although he did not score during his spell with Swans in the second part of the campaign, he made a huge impression.

The Birmingham Mail say Bilic wants him for the season.

But Chelsea want to tie him down to a longer contract before he departs to The Hawthorns.

Gallagher is one of a string of top British kids who have come through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

The likes of midfielders Mason Mount and Billy Gilmour, defenders Reece James and Fikayo Tomori and attackers Callum Hudson-Odoi and Tammy Abraham have all broken into the first team.

Gallagher would be unable to get any game time in the Blues first team next season.

Along with Mount, Hudson-Odoi and Gilmour, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, £36m Hakim Ziyech, Mateo Kovacic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic are all battling for up to five places.

That means Gallagher is still quite far down the pecking order despite his talent.

Albion wanted Gallagher in January but Chelsea chiefs were concerned he would not get much game time.

But boss Frank Lampard believes even opportunities from the bench with the Baggies could help Gallagher’s football education.

Crystal Palace and Brighton also want Gallagher on a season-long loan deal.
