Chelsea outcast Kenedy to join Granada on season-long loan transfer… 24-year-old’s FIFTH away from Blues

CHELSEA outcast Kenedy is on the verge of joining Granada on a season-long loan, according to reports.

It will be the 24-year-old’s fifth loan spell since he joined the club for £6.3million in 2015.

He returned to Stamford Bridge this summer following a campaign with Getafe where he made 27 appearances.

Before that he had two loan stints with Newcastle and one with Watford.

The Toon looked into the possibility of signing him permanently in 2018 but balked at Chelsea’s £30m asking price.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein revealed the news of his impending departure on Twitter by writing: “Chelsea winger Kenedy having medical with Granada ahead of loan to La Liga club.”

Kenedy has made 27 appearances for Chelsea, scoring three times but is deemed surplus to requirements under Frank Lampard.

He still has two years left on his contract and it is unlikely he will be offered a new deal.

Boss Lampard is eager to offload his fringe players in order to balance the books from their summer splurge.

The Blues have spent around £250million on the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell.

While Kenedy was available to buy, clubs are keeping their hands in their pockets following the coronavirus pandemic.

Lampard will now look to offload other fringe players including Danny Drinkwater, Michy Batshuayi and Davide Zappacosta.

He will also allow Ross Barkley and Jorginho to leave for the right price.
