Arsenal lucky to have Man City clash axed as they were ‘gonna get bust-up’, trolls Liam Gallagher

LIAM GALLAGHER has taunted Arsenal after the Gunners’ match with his beloved Manchester City was postponed due to coronavirus fears.

Mikel Arteta was tonight set to make his first return to the Etihad since leaving City’s No2 position for the Emirates hotseat back in December.

But the Spaniard will have to wait, after some Arsenal stars were forced into quarantine.

And the former Oasis star, 47, was quick to point out what he thinks would have happened at the Etihad.

He tweeted: “So the city v arsenal game cancelled just as well eh as arsenal were gonna get BUST up ha ha c’mon you know LG x”.

The precautionary measures in North London came after it was confirmed that Nottingham Forest and Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis has contracted the disease.

Marinakis, 52, was in attendance at the Emirates on February 27 when his Greek giants knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League.

But fears have been sparked among the North Londoners, as some of Arsenal’s stars were thought to have met with Marinakis after the game.

Extra precautions are currently being discussed by football chiefs, with 382 cases of coronavirus having so far been reported in the UK – with six deaths.

A Premier League statement read: “Following medical advice, Arsenal FC and Manchester City FC consider it is necessary to postpone their fixture due to be played this evening to give time to fully assess the situation.

“The Premier League has therefore agreed that tonight’s game will be rearranged.”

And in a statement of their own, Arsenal said: “The players will remain at their homes until the 14-day period expires. Four Arsenal staff, who were sitting close to Mr Marinakis during the match will also remain at home until the 14 days are complete.

“We fully understand how disappointing this is for our supporters, in particular those who were travelling to Manchester for tonight’s match. Tickets will be valid for the match when it’s rearranged.”
