The former world heavyweight champion takes on arguably the most famous boxer to ever live in Mike Tyson, in an eight-round exhibition fight.

The clash will be on pay-per-view, meaning the opportunity to make some big money is right in front of both men.

But with over 100 fights between them and multiple world title wins, both Tyson and Jones Jr are doing just fine financially.

According to CelebrityNetWorth, Jones Jr has a net worth of £3.8million, but made over £40m during his career as a fighter.

It’s also been reported that Jones Jr has had various financial issues over the years and in 2014 he filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Jones Jr, however, kept his boxing career going long enough that the managed to escape any debt he found himself in, before retiring in 2018.

He made his largest purse in boxing when he fought John Ruiz for the WBA heavyweight world title in 2003, picking up a cool £10m, as well as 60 per cent of the revenue from the fight.

Roy Jones Jr’s purse for his fight with Mike Tyson is said to be around £7.5m, which is the joint-highest of his career.

Jones Jr and Tyson will also share the money, 50-50 down the middle, made from pay-per-view buys, meaning his earnings could rocket as high as £20m.
