The boxing legend, 41, has been exercising relentlessly during the lockdown – but it hasn’t all been plain sailing for him.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Hatton emotionally revealed he has suffered a death in the family.

But, talking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Hatton said pal Tyson Fury was there for him during his darkest moment.

Hatton revealed: “I’ve been a friend of Tyson for years.

“I had a death in the family which is very upsetting because you want to be there for your family when things like this happen.

“But because of the lockdown I wasn’t able to do this… give support to my loved ones.

“It got me down a bit so I posted on my Instagram and within two minutes the phone went and it was Tyson.

“’Hey Ricky, how are you doing, what’s up?’

“That’s what you need, you need good friends around you, good people, and Tyson is certainly one of them.”

WEIGH TO GO

On a brighter note, Hatton opened up about his incredible one-stone weight loss.

Hatton said: “The best thing that has helped me get through [lockdown] has been my own work and exercise and my training.

“I have been very fortunate, I have lost about a stone in weight believe it or not.

“I am still a little bit on the chubby side but it’s been very good for me in that perspective.

“It gives you a lot of time to reflect.

“I have been very fortunate to see my girls who are eight and seven years old a couple of times a week, so I have not been completely alone.”

Meanwhile, ex-Manchester United star Andrew Cole – also on GMB on Tuesday morning – revealed friends, including Dwight Yorke, helped him battle through the lockdown.

Cole was in a bad way before former striking buddy Yorke told him to crack on with the Joe Wicks workouts to keep himself fit and mentally well.

The ex-Newcastle star said: “I can see the light now. I wouldn’t have got to this stage now without friends and family.

“All I can do is thank them. Without them I would have struggled.”

Cole also urged Premier League chiefs to be sensible over restarting the season, adding: “They have to look at everyone’s health and welfare. People have died from this.”
