Deontay Wilder ‘counting down the days’ until Tyson Fury trilogy clash and vows to ‘rise’ again

DEONTAY WILDER is “counting down the days” until his trilogy fight with Tyson Fury.

The Bronze Bomber was completely dominated last month in Las Vegas as he lost his WBC heavyweight title to the Gypsy King.

Despite his corner throwing in the towel for his first career defeat, the 34-year-old has triggered his clause for a rematch, expected to take place in July.

And Wilder has now taken to Instagram to reveal his excitement at getting a third shot to defeat Fury.

He wrote: “Counting down the days until we are back in the ring.

“We will rise! I am thankful for all of the support from my BombSquad nation.”

Fury looks set to face Wilder at the new Allegiant Stadium, which will be home to the relocated NFL franchise the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, the Brit’s trainer Andy Lee says he is shocked the American has chosen to face his fighter again.

Speaking to Boxing Social, he said: “I am surprised him [Wilder] and his advisers have taken it.

“I’m sure his ego wants that fight. I think there should be someone saying let’s fight (Andy) Ruiz or somebody else and come back and fight Tyson again.

“Let him build a little bit more. But a champion wants to get it back straight away and he’s got that champion mind-set.”

Lee added: “He has made excuses but who knows what was really going on when he was training for the fight.

“Maybe it will be a better performance, but I just can’t see how he’s going to change that.

“Tyson’s only going to get better at what he’s doing.”
