Five forwards Chelsea could sign in January including Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner as Lampard vows to replace Hazard

FRANK LAMPARD has confirmed that he is hoping to recruit attacking reinforcements next month and finally replace Eden Hazard.

Chelsea were unable to replace their star man this summer after he left for Real Madrid because of their transfer ban, but that has since been lifted.

The Blues are now set to have at least £150million to spend in January with Lampard reportedly identifying five potential targets.

A striker remains the former Derby manager’s priority, with Olivier Giroud set to leave after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

The Guardian report that Lyon’s Moussa Dembéle and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner are among the options on Lampard’s shortlist.

He has also said to have been keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

While SunSport revealed in October that Bournemouth frontman Callum Wilson was on Chelsea’s radar along with Werner as the club were confident of their ban being lifted.

Manchester United are expected to rival Chelsea for Sancho, while the Red Devils have also been listed as one of the club’s linked to Lyon star Dembele.

Following his side’s 2-1 win over Lille to progress to the Champions League knockout stages, Lamps confirmed that he is looking to bring in goals.

If we’re looking at if we can get even better, can we get better in forward areas to help the idea of being more clinical, then I think we’ll always look at that

He said:  “I will look at all areas of the team but I think it was quite clear in the summer that you lose Eden Hazard, who was a huge part of scoring or creating our goals last season and the season before that, the high level of player he is.

“I think we’ve found ways as a team where we can still be competitive. We’ve shown that in the league and now the Champions League.

“But if we’re looking at if we can get even better, can we get better in forward areas to help the idea of being more clinical, then I think we’ll always look at that.

“We’re just not converting enough. Some of that is to keep working and I’m not here to criticise anybody because we’ve just qualified from a really tough group to get through to the next stage of the Champions League.

“But we have standards here and I know how much the players also want to be successful. It’s very clear, so we’ll keep working towards it.”

Lampard, who is also considering a move to bring Nathan Ake back to London, accepts it will be difficult to bring in the right players in January.

He added: “I’m calm about this window.

“We don’t see so much great business in January. If it’s there to be done it’s right for the club and that’s a conversation for me and upstairs. I don’t think we’ll go crazy just because the ban has been lifted.”
