ELLIOT GILES has pleaded with his sick dad to see a doctor – and has threatened to “beat him up” if he doesn’t go.

The 25-year-old comfortably won his 800m heat in an impressive time of 1:45.53 on day two of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

After his victory, he went on BBC TV and demanded his father Donovan, 65, take his advice and seek medical help following lung problems and feet issues – otherwise they would be trouble!

Giles has qualified for Sunday’s semi-finals alongside teammates Jamie Webb and Kyle Langford.

Giles said: “My dad is not very well. He is a stubborn bugger and he is refusing to go to hospital.

“I have sent family chat messages to get him to hospital, so have my sister, aunties and uncles.

“My mum is getting fed up with it because he is a stubborn old bugger. I can’t change it – when men get old they get set in their ways.

“He has a whole list of problems. It’s a long list from the lung area to the huge disability in his feet.

“He’s a man of fighting spirit but he does not have the body.

“I definitely have his mind but hopefully not his body. I will call him out and if I get home I will beat him up! He’s bigger than me so he can lie on me but I’m quicker.”
