Tottenham vs Chelsea LIVE REACTION: Blues pile on Mourinho misery as Jorginho penalty secures win – latest updates

JORGINHO’s penalty was the difference as Chelsea beat Tottenham 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs have now lost their last three Premier League matches as the pressure mounts on the former Blues boss.

Follow ALL of the latest updates below…

    GOODBYE
The last time Tottenham failed to score against Chelsea, they moved to the top of the table and all was well.
Just over two months on, Spurs have again drawn a blank against the Blues, but now their season is in danger of falling apart.
A 1-0 loss was a third successive defeat for the North London club, who now find themselves in eighth spot and looking at those below them in the Premier League rather than above.
Jose Mourinho is a man under fire, both for his defensive brand of football and the poor run of form that has seen his side muster just two league wins in ten.
In stark contrast, the era of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea has begun brightly.
The German boss has taken seven points from his three games in charge, has yet to see side concede a goal, and has the Stamford Bridge club dominating possession like never before.
Tonight’s derby was settled by a first half penalty from Jorginho, but, in truth, there was a whole chasm between the sides when it came to desire, direction and confidence.
Mourinho had never lost consecutive home games as a manager before this evening, but this is a season where such records are falling by the wayside.
He has the perfect opportunity to get his team back on track when hosting West Brom on Sunday. Fail to win that, however, and it could well spell the end for Jose. It really is all or nothing.
    Thanks for reading, and goodnight.

    MOURINHO REACTION
Despite the disappointing performance, Jose Mourinho has put a positive spin on this evening’s encounter. Speaking to Des Kelly afterwards, the Tottenham boss suggested that despite Chelsea’s dominance with the ball, the penalty was all that separated the sides.

It was a bit of a struggle but how many chances did they have? The penalty? We didn’t have the ball, correct. We didn’t create in the first half, correct. The struggle was the penalty and it difficult to accept because it was not a dangerous situation.
In the second half, we were different, the spirit was different, the confidence too.
Lucas and Lamela helped to change the dynamic, and to finish the game with this positive spirit helps.
    Jose Mourinho

Relive the action with David Kidd’s match report from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Chelsea have run out 1-0 winners in this latest London derby.

BALE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD
Despite the injury to Harry Kane and a lack of attacking options, there was still no place for Gareth Bale in the Tottenham team this evening.
Following a poor 70 minutes in which Spurs hardly mustered a shot, Jose Mourinho overlooked the Welshman as he looked for replacements, instead opting for Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela.
In his post-match press conference, the Tottenham manager gave this curious response to a question on Bale’s position.

I’m doing my best. He’s doing his best. Everybody is doing their best.
    Jose Mourinho

    TIMO’S TWEET
A happy Timo Werner has taken to Twitter to express his derby delight. If only he was as prolific in front of goal as he is on social media.

    THE TABLE
Chelsea are up to sixth after tonight’s victory while Spurs remain in eighth. Jose Mourinho’s men had moved to the top of the Premier league after the 0-0 draw with Chelsea in November.
Manchester City lead the way, and face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

    TUCHEL REACTION
A delighted Thomas Tuchel has been speaking post-match, praising his players for the manner in which they dominated the first half, and then how they dug deep to thwart Tottenham in the second.

Every experience we make is a step forward if we are open to learning from it. The whole first half we totally controlled the game high up the pitch, and then in the second half we lost a bit of confidence.
Minute by minute, we lost a little bit of ball possession, but we never lost belief, we never lost our structure and intensity to defend.
In football, there are many ways to have a good performance. If it’s necessary to suffer, you have to be ready to suffer, and that’s what I’m very happy about.
    Thomas Tuchel

    SHOT SHY SPURS
The stats will show that Tottenham managed seven shots this evening compared to Chelsea’s 18, but four of those came in a desperate final five minutes.

    MOUNTING A CLAIM
Man of the Match Mason Mount has spoken at full time about Chelsea’s new style under Thomas Tuchel, and how the players have taken to their roles.

I think we had a lot of control in the first half and should have scored more in the game. We should be more clinical in front of goal and that’s something we need to work on. It’s the style the manager wants and it’s something we need to keep working at. It’s new. It’s different for some of us players. We’re all learning, but it’s going well so far.
    Mason Mount

JOSE FINALLY IN NEED OF HOME HELP
It’s a third defeat in succession for Jose Mourinho, and that now includes consecutive home losses for the first time.

1 – In what was his 327th home league match, Spurs boss José Mourinho has suffered back-to-back league defeats on home soil for the very first time in his managerial career. Questions. pic.twitter.com/LB6fAhV1uU

    FULL TIME STATS
Tottenham have been beaten, bettered and beleaguered.
    What now for Jose Mourinho?

SHOUT OUT FOR TOMMY’S SHUT OUTS
Chelsea have yet to concede a goal since Thomas Tuchel took charge at Stamford Bridge, following in the footsteps of an old great.

    FT: TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
Chelsea win at the home of their London rivals. The scoreline suggests a narrow victory, but Thomas Tuchel’s Blues were vastly superior to a disappointing Spurs outfit. Jorginho’s first half penalty was the difference as Jose Mourinho suffered consecutive home defeats for the first time in his managerial career.

PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!IT’S ALL OVER IN NORTH LONDON!

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    90+3. Son! Over!
Spurs try to work one final chance, and when Moura fails to get the better of Christensen, the ball falls nicely to Son just inside the area.
The South Korean takes on the shot first time, but snatches at what is a rare chance and fires over.
That should ensure Chelsea leave with all three points.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    90. As the the board goes up to signal three minutes of stoppage time, Werner catches a shot sweetly.
Typical of the German’s luck of late, it crashes into an opponent rather than the back of the net.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    89. Another effort on goal from Spurs, this time from a set-piece.
Dier takes charge of a free-kick 25-yards from goal, but pulls his curler wide of the far post with Mendy caught flat-footed.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    88. Vinicius! That should have been the equaliser!
The striker has been starved of service all game, but finally gets his chance with a header from an excellent Aurier cross.
The Brazilian gets up to meet the delivery, only to send it agonisingly wide of the far post.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    86. The camera cuts to Gareth Bale on the bench.
It’s an image that sums up the frustration felt by all during this loan move.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    85. As the clock shows just five minutes of normal time remaining, the stats come out.
Jose Mourinho has not lost three successive games since his second spell as Chelsea manager. Tottenham have never lost consecutive home games in their new stadium. Jose Mourinho has never lost back-to-back home matches in his career as a manger.
    All are about to change.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    83. James and Mount stand over a free-kick inside the Tottenham half. Eventually, it’s the midfielder who swings it towards Rudiger in the box, only for Hojbjerg to clear to safety,

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    81. Kante is yellow carded for lunge on Lamela.
He becomes the second Chelsea substitute to be cautioned after Pulisic has been booked minutes earlier for an offence missed by the television cameras.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    79. A shot! A shot! Tottenham have had a shot!
Lamela works the ball on to his left foot, and lets fly 25 yards from goal with a curler.
Undeterred by the lack of action, Mendy gets down well to his right to parry away.
It’s Spurs’ first effort on goal since Aurier headed wide in the 43rd minute.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    76. Good save from Lloris!
The Tottenham captain keeps his side in the game with a low one-handed stop to deny Mount.

    TOTTENHAM 0-1 CHELSEA
    75. A melee inside the Tottenham area ends with two players – James and Dier – receiving a ball in the face, and at least another two offside.

Liverpool vs Brighton LIVE: Seagulls beat Reds at Anfield plus Lingard hits DOUBLE on West Ham debut – latest reaction

MANCHESTER CITY now lead Liverpool by seven points after a dramatic night of Premier League action.
The Reds lost 1-0 at home against Brighton while City ran out 2-0 winners at Burnley.
    FT: Liverpool 0 Brighton 1
FT: Aston Villa 1 West Ham 3
FT: Burnley 0 Man City 2
    FT: Fulham 0 Leicester 2
    FT: Leeds 1 Everton 2

Follow ALL the reaction from the games with our live blog below…

    KLOPP BLAMES TIREDNESS
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blamed their tame, toothless display in Brighton’s victory on tiredness after last week’s wins over Tottenham and West Ham.
Klopp said: “For us it looks like this week was too tough. Two away games, two very intense games and tonight we looked really like we weren’t fresh enough mentally and physically.
“I know the boys can play the pass from A to B, but tonight B seemed not reachable in a lot of moments.
“I don’t have real explanation for it other than we had a really tough week.”

‘WE’RE OUT OF THE TITLE RACE NOW’
Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson said after Brighton’s shock 1-0 Anfield win: “As this moment stands, we’re not in the title race.
“We are seven points behind them and they have a game in hand.
“I’m sure they’d say the same if they were potentially 10 points behind. We need to get back to the Liverpool everyone knows.
“We’re still a good team. We don’t turn into a bad team overnight.”
“With a long record of going unbeaten we’ve lost two. When you don’t show up you don’t get results.
“It’s just not clicking. We need to find a way to get results, especially at home.”

    STATS HARD TO TAKE
Brighton’s fine display in winning 1-0 at Liverpool was reflected in some of the match stats.

    DOUBLE TROUBLE
Brighton’s 1-0 win at Anfield was hard to take for Liverpool for so many reasons – albeit not on the pitch as the Seagulls impressed.

    IT’S TOUGH AT THE TOP
Could it get worse before it gets better for champions Liverpool…?

    FULL TIME AT ANFIELD!
Brighton have done it. A brilliant performance and an incredible result.
The Seagulls were full value for this stunning win.
Liverpool were abject again, as they were against Burnley.
It’s back to back 1-0 home defeats in the Premier League at Anfield after previously not losing at home for four years.
Has the title slipped away from Klopp’s men? They face the in-form Man City next on Sunday.

    BACK IN BUSINESS
    What a night for Lingard…

    GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!
It’s Lingard again! That should be that for West Ham now.
What a debut for Lingard in a Hammers shirt. He has his second goal of the night.
Man Utd fans must be enjoying this night.

Really poor from the champions, and their title is slipping away.

    GOALLLLLLL!
    Aston Villa have a lifeline.
Ollie Watkins has pulled one back with just under 10 minutes to play.
It’s Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham.

It’s Brighton with all the changes at the moment. Liverpool haven’t really come close to scoring.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
    78, Another change for Liverpool.
Firmino goes off and on comes Curtis Jones.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
75, Gross with the snap shot… really good save from Kelleher.
That effort from the corner of the penalty area was sneaking into the bottom corner but the young goalkeeper was down quickly to make a full-stretch save.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
    70, Salah! Just wide!
A better move from Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold got to the byline.
His cross was perfect for Salah, who made brilliant contact but was missing the direction from 10 yards.
    Frustration for Klopp.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
67, A bittersweet moment for Brighton.
March has been taken off and is making his way very gingerly down the tunnel with the help of some medical staff.
But on in his place comes former Red Adam Lallana, a very popular member of Liverpool’s title-winning side.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
64, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Origi on, and off go Wijnaldum and Shaqiri.
Getting late for Liverpool now. They haven’t won in their last three Prem games at Anfield.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
62, Firmino in behind… but brilliant recovery from Webster.
Thiago had a free-kicked 30 yards out and just dinked it in behind for Firmino but the Brighton defence just got back in time.

    LIVERPOOL 0-1 BRIGHTON
60, Klopp has seen enough. Changes coming.
Origi and Oxlade-Chamberlain are stripped off and ready.

    OLE SPEAKS
Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke after his sides impressive 9-0 win over Southampton: “We have been waiting for them to show the magic but that was a night they could go and enjoy.
“We haven’t had too many of those, where I can just sit down in the second half and enjoy the football.
“They enjoyed it – some good performances. We’ll get lots of confidence from a performance like this and scoring goals is always good for forwards and a team.”
Solskjaer had his say on the early red card: “You don’t really see many of those tackles around any more and I’m glad Scott [McTominay] is OK.
“It looked like a bad one when he stayed down, but he’s got away with a couple of bruises there.”
And on his two magnificant full-backs he said: “They were brilliant. Aaron kept going in there to the far post and Luke kept putting crosses in, like I asked him to do.
“It’s always hard but it’s just about getting quality balls into the box, which we did.”

    TWITTER STORM
As Bednarek went down the tunnel, he said: “Martial said it’s not a foul!”
And other former strikers concur, both Peter Crouch and Michael Owen have weighed in on the decision.

That absolutely sums things up. The best thing is it hardly matters. But if that’s a pen then the game has officially gone. Biggest example of a dive I’ve seen in ages. Shambles.

That’s all from us tonight, but the two teams do it all over again in just a week’s time in the second leg for a place in the Coppa Italia final.
Before that though Inter have a tricky away fixture to negotiate as they travel to Fiorentina as the Serie A title race resumes.
Juventus meanwhile host Roma in what is a mouthwatering clash between third and fourth in the league.
Unlike other years, the Scudetto title race could go right down to the wire this season.
In the Coppa Italia though, join us this time next week for the second leg of this tie.
Can Inter turn things around, or will Juventus advance to the final to face either Napoli or Atalanta?
    We’ll find out next week.
Thanks for joining us tonight, it’s been a pleasure.

    MATCH REPORT
Plenty to talk about from an entertaining encounter at San Siro.
The home side took the lead inside ten minutes thanks to Lautaro Martinez, before Ashley Young gave away a penalty for a pull on Cuadrado, which was given after the referee consulted VAR.
Cristiano Ronaldo thundered home from the spot, before Ronaldo capitalised on a mix-up between Handanovic and Bastoni and expertly squeezed the ball into the empty net.
Next week we do it all over again in the second leg in Turin, but Inter have got it all to do if they want to reach the Coppa Italia semi-final.

    RONALDO’S NIGHT
Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand to bag a brace and give Juventus the advantage before the next week’s second leg.
His first goal was an unstoppable spot kick, before a brilliant finish to put the visitors ahead.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
So Inter will have to come from behind in Turin if they want to reach the Coppa Italia final.
The second half was quite as entertaining as the first, but all the hard work was done by Juventus before the break.
After that it was just a matter of seeing the game out, although Buffon was called into action once to deny Darmian with an excellent save.
Merih Demiral also made a superb goal-line clearance to deny Alexis Sanchez.
Inter will welcome back Romelu Lukaku for the second leg, but have they left themselves too much to do?

    PEEEEEEP!
    THAT’S FULL TIME!
    INTER 1-2! JUVENTUS
JUVE HAVE THE ADVANTAGE AFTER THE FIRST LEG OF THIS COPPA ITALIA SEMI-FINAL!

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    94. Yellow card.
I can’t even work out who has been booked this time, as the yellow card is brandished yet again.
It’s Skriniar I think who is the latest man to go into the book.
It’s absolute chaos at the San Siro, with players hitting the deck seemingly even twenty seconds.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    93. Added time seems to be passing with little incident, as Alex Sandro wins a free kick from Pinamonte.
That might be that, as Juventus are taking plenty of time to take this one.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    91. Inter yellow card.
Alexis Sanchez takes a heavy touch and clatters into Chiesa and is booked for his troubles.
There’s huge cries from the Juventus bench as the tackle comes in.
Both teams have been very vocal all night in trying to get opposition players booked.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    90. Four minutes of added time are indicated by the fourth official.
Can Inter fashion one last chance to level the tie?

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    89. Juventus substitutions.
McKennie and Kulusevski are being replaced by Chiellini and Chiesa for the last couple of minutes.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    88. McKennie tries his luck from range but curls his effort straight into the hands of Handanovic.
Handanovic then launches a long throw forward to try and set Inter on the attack, but Arthur steps in and wins a foul off Sanchez.
The Juve players are seeing this game out professionally.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    87. The game is starting to get a little bit scrappy now as Juve are happy to give away fouls in the middle of the pitch to slow the game down.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    86. Pinamonti is straight into the action on the right wing, and is met by a firm challenge from De Ligt.
He wants a free kick, but the referee indicates it’s just a throw in.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    85. Inter changes.
Brozovic and Bastoni are coming off for Pinamonti and Sensi for the final five minutes.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    84. Martinez catches out Cuadrado on the edge of the Juventus box and plays the ball to Brozovic.
He spreads it wide to Darmian who tries to cross into the box but his delivery is blocked and Juve survive.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    83. Now Juventus have a longer spell of possession.
They’ve got seven minutes left plus stoppage time to take a first leg lead back to Turin.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    81. It’s Inter who are doing all the pressing, but Juventus look dangerous on the break.
Morata tries to counter, but he does not have the pace of Ronaldo and the attack breaks down.

    ACTION SHOT

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    78. Inter then win a free kick on the right wing that Eriksen is standing over.
His cross is too long though, and sails harmlessly out of play.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    77. Juventus play themselves into trouble again!
Rabiot gives it away on the edge of his own box, before the ball is worked to Eriksen eighteen yards out.
He has plenty of time to shoot, but can only tamely strike his effort into the arms of Buffon.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    76. Juventus substitutions.
Andrea Pirlo is making a double switch.
A confusing looking Cristiano Ronaldo shakes his head as he and Bentancur are replaced by Morata and Artur.
    Ronaldo wanted a hat-trick.

    INTER 1-2 JUVENTUS
    75. Half a chance for Inter.
Perisic whips a cross into the box that is acrobatically met by Barella with a scissor kick, but his effort is three or four yards wide of the post.
It would have been some goal, but it never troubled Buffon between the sticks.

Wolves 2 Arsenal 1 LIVE REACTION: Leno and Luiz BOTH sent off in Gunners horror show as hosts fight back for crucial win

WOLVES fought back from a goal down against Arsenal as the Gunners saw David Luiz and Bernt Leno both sent off at Molineux.
    Final score: Wolves 2-1 Arsenal
Follow ALL the reaction with our live blog below…

Best bets of the day including Lacazette goal TREBLE

    THAT’S ALL FOR TONIGHT!
Wolves have beaten Arsenal 2-1 at Molineux thanks to goals from Ruben Neves (from the spot) and Joao Mountinho’s wonder goal either side of Pepe’s opener for Arsenal.
The Gunners were reduced to nine men after David Luiz was sent off in the incident that led to Wolves’ penalty and Bernd Leno was dismissed for handling the ball outside of the area.
The win was Wolves’ first in the league for nine games and halted Arsenal’s seven game unbeaten run.

    Goodnight!

    MORE FROM NUNO
“All the achievements are good but we did many beautiful things in the past seasons and we want to emulate them again. This will require hard work from the players and they are determined.
“Today we approached the game very, very convinced of what we had to do. It’s not what happened in the game, what happened before was very important.
“The players challenged themselves to raise themselves and their standards. They are very good players and in the past have given very beautiful things to us. The standards are very high and we have to chase that.
“We cannot allow ourselves to ever put our heads down. It’s a very tough moment for us. I will not allow our players to stop believing in themselves.”

    MORE REACTION FROM ARTETA
(On the referee’s decision) “If there is any contact it’s him with David. I don’t know if they have a different angle to what they have or you have.
“Those big decisions are like that but it’s nothing I can change at the moment. It was a big decision and they can justify if they got it right then I put my hands up and apologise.
“The only thing I’m saying is I’m sitting here and I cannot see any contact and it’s really frustrating because it’s a big moment in the game.”

    REACTION FROM NUNO
(on beating Arsenal) “It’s very welcome. It means a lot, of course. We’ve been in a tough moment, so it’s important. The game was very difficult. Arsenal play very good football. Everything changes with the penalty. It was important.”
(on Joao Moutinho’s goal) “That goal was amazing. I’m very pleased. The only thing we can be sad about is that the South Bank was not behind it. That would have been magical. Joao is such a talented player and deserves this moment.

    REACTION FROM ARTETA
(on Leno’s red card) “I imagine he makes the decision in a split of a second and naturally he tries to stop the ball, there’s nothing he can do.”
(on Luiz’s red card) “I’ve just seen the replay ten times in five different angles and I cannot see any contact.”
(on whether he’ll appeal Luiz red card) “If I’m sitting here now I would say yes. We have to speak with legal at the club and see what the best thing is to do.”
“The way we lost the game really hurts, it’s painful.”
(on the second half) “We were really animated at half time because we really wanted to win the game. We didn’t concede any chances but Moutinho scored a worldie.”

THE January transfer window is now CLOSED!
But don’t go anywhere, as clubs may have submitted deal sheets and transfers could still be announced over the next few hours.

    RAISE THE BAAH
Manchester City starlet Kwadwo Baah is hungry like the Wilf as he looks to tear apart Premier League defences.
The 18-year-old forward, also courted by Bayern Munich, signed from Rochdale after a stellar start to life in League One.
He will join and summer and he will be doing somersaults over his move to the Etihad.
Baah struck his first goal for Dale against Wigan last year and celebrated acrobatically. He followed it up with two against Charlton last month.
He will spend the rest of the season on loan at Rochdale and join City in the summer.

    DEADLINE DAY RECAP
A bit quiet out there so time for a quick recap – here’s the pick of the storylines from deadline day…
Liverpool signed two centre-backs – Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies
Dele Alli stayed at Tottenham despite interest from PSG
Joe Willock (Newcastle) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (West Brom) both left Arsenal on loan
No movement at Chelsea or Manchester United

Southampton signed Takumi Minamino on loan from Liverpool in a late swoop

    TEST BOOST
Premier League Covid positives have finally dropped back to pre-Christmas levels in a further boost to football chiefs.
Last week’s 2,957 tests across the 20 Prem clubs brought just seven new positive cases.
That is slightly down from the eight recorded in the seven days up to January 24, although this time there were positive cases in both sampling rounds.
Four of the positives came in the first batch of tests, of 1,713 players and staff, between Monday and Thursday.
There were then three positives out of 1,244 samples between Friday and Sunday.
The seven positives is the lowest total since the week of December 20, when the same number was recorded from only 1,569 tests.

    JAB STAND
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has insisted that footballers cannot be allowed to jump the Covid-19 jabs queue.
There have been calls for elite athletes to be moved up the priority list to ensure they can play inside secure bubbles.
But Infantino, speaking at an appearance at the World Health Organisation, dismissed that idea – but also pledged he expected full houses at the 2022 World Cup Finals.
Infantino said: “The priority for the vaccine is of course for the people at risk and health workers.
“That is very sure in our minds and we don’t consider football players as a priority in this respect.
“Of course, in the months to come and in the context of international competition and travel, vaccination might be recommended at some point.
“The Olympic Games are only in the summer but this will happen respecting established order of distribution. The people at risk should have priority.”

    TRAVEL PROBLEMS
Prem clubs have been left up in the air over whether they will be forced to release players for next month’s World Cup qualifiers, Martin Lipton reports.
Last week’s new UK border rules mean that South American and Portuguese players will be forced to spend 10 days in strict hotel quarantine when they return to British soil.
SunSport revealed how it could deprive Liverpool of Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino for three games at the start of April.
And it would bring similar issues for Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles and Ederson, Ruben Dias and Gabriel Jesus at Manchester City.

    HURRY REDKNAPP
Harry Redknapp was in a hurry after he got LOST on his way to the Sky Sports studios in a hilarious transfer deadline day gaffe.
Redknapp was given an ovation as he finally joined Jim White on set, more than 40 minutes after he was supposed to following his ordeal to get from his Bournemouth home to West London.
Explaining the palaver, the former Spurs boss said: “I was on the M3, plenty of time and it’s taken my three-and-a-quarter hours it took me from Bournemouth.
“I was going along lovely and then suddenly a sign flashed up saying ‘accident J4 to J2’. Closed. Whatever.
“So I had to divert all the way back and Jim, I didn’t have a clue. I’ve ended up coming up the M4, cutting across to Reading.”
Asked if he has a sat nav, Redknapp added: “We do Jim but I have to be truthful, I’ve changed my car and I’ve not been anywhere since because we’re in lockdown.
“I know my way here easy enough. I ain’t got a clue how to work the sat nav. I can’t work it. It’s too complicated.”

    UP IN THE AIR
Dayot Upamecano’s agent has confirmed the sought-after centre-back is deciding on his future with two top Premier League clubs vying for the RB Leipzig star.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the highly-rated 22-year-old but the Prem sides will face competition from Bayern Munich.
Upamecano has a contract until 2023 at the German side but the player’s representative Volker Struth confirmed he has a £38million release clause, which is likely to be triggered this summer.
Struth told Sport1: “The release clause was agreed because the player decided to want to take the next step at some point. It is very likely in the summer.
“Nothing final has been decided yet. The tendency for him to leave the club in the summer is high.

    DOUBLE MOVE
Deadline day is never over really, is it?
Thank god for those deal sheets to give us some late night drama and a bit of action into the early hours.
King and Minamino both done, that should be the end of the big business but we’ll see.

    BREAKING
Josh King is official too. Everton have announced his signing from Bournemouth.
King and Minamino were the two we were expecting confirmation of in the early hours, and that’s exactly what we got.

Takumi Minamino has completed his loan move to Southampton on loan from Liverpool until the end of the season.

    BREAKING

    AMERICAN DREAM
Championship club Swansea have confirmed the signing of Paul Arriola on loan from DC United.
The 25-year-old American will slot into the Welsh club’s midfield after leaving the MLS.

    FREE-FL
EFL clubs have not declared a PENNY in January transfer fees, Martin Lipton reports.
The astonishing lack of spending is the clearest sign yet of a collapse in the market due to coronavirus.
Across Europe, as expected, deals were down markedly from this time last year, when Premier League clubs alone spent £230million.
This year top-flight deals were worth less than £100m, with similar declines across Europe.

    SOUTH COAST MOVE
Southampton have announced that Yan Valery has joined Birmingham on loan.

    DEAL ME IN
Sky Sports News report that two deal sheets were submitted to the Premier League in which transfers have not been confirmed by clubs.
We’d expect those to be Minamino to Southampton and King to Everton BUT we’ll monitor that through the night.
The deadline may have passed but the night is still young…

    DEAL SHEETS
It’s that time of deadline day – What is a deal sheet? How do we know if a transfer has gone through? Etc etc.
Looks like the Premier League website have it covered…

    BREAKING
Willock to Newcastle has been confirmed.

Takumi Minamino is set to join Southampton on loan from Liverpool.
The Athletic report that a deal sheet has been submitted and that’s all that needs to happen before 11pm.
