Inter Milan are suing the American league for trademark infringement.
The Italian side have claimed the term ‘Inter’ is synonymous with just them.
In 2014, the club filed a trademark application with the United States Patent Trademark Office.
According to AS, the Serie A side won the first round of the battle in court on Monday.

Inter Miami are expected to make a final appeal to the USPTO to overturn the decision.
But defeat would see Beckham’s club forced into a humiliating change of identity.
Re-branding the entire club would cost Beckham and Co millions of dollars.

Inside Messi’s ‘£7.25m Miami apartment with lift for his car he’s bought ahead of transfer to David Beckham’s MLS side’

LIONEL MESSI could be preparing for a stint at Inter Miami following reports of a luxury apartment purchased on the Florida coast.
Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been chasing the Barcelona striker since his contract dispute with the LaLiga club.

But 33-year-old Messi appears to have his heart set on a move to MLS.
He recently told Spanish TV station La Sexta: “My plan is to give all I can for the club at the moment.
“I would like to play in the United States and experience life and the league there, but ultimately come back to Barcelona in some capacity.
“I’m not thinking too far ahead in the short-term and just want to see how the season finishes.”

According to Madrid-based radio station Cadena Ser, Messi has already made his first move towards Miami with the purchase of a luxury apartment in the city.
A pad worth at least £7.25million was reportedly purchased by the Argentine last year.

The swanky Porsche Design Tower, completed in 2017, sits on the Sunny Isles beachfront in Miami.
Branded by the German supercar manufacturer of the same name, the building boasts three car lifts allowing residents to park their vehicle on the same floor as their suite.

Reports in Spain suggest Messi would prefer to stay with Barcelona until 2023, before a move across the Atlantic.
Much could depend on Barcelona’s fate this season with his contract expiring in June.
With their talisman on an extended holiday break in Argentine, Ronald Koeman’s side were held to a 1-1 draw against Eibar on Tuesday night.
The forward is said to prefer to school his three kids Stateside while seeing out his playing days.

Such an opportunity would heighten talk of a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
In the side’s debut campaign, they finished tenth in the MLS Eastern Conference while being linked to a wealth of star names.
Blaise Matuidi and Gonzalo Higuain joined Inter during the 2020 campaign and Olivier Giroud was reportedly offered an apartment in Porsche Design Tower to tempt him into a move.

Club Olimpia player Jerry Bengtson wears mask DURING game in North American Champions League ‘to protect his family’

CLUB OLIMPIA star Jerry Bengtson is believed to be the first footballer to wear a mask DURING a game.
The Honduras international striker donned the face covering as his side saw off Montreal Impact in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Olimpia actually fell to a 1-0 defeat to Thierry Henry’s team on Tuesday but went through to the semi-final with a 2-2 win on aggregate.
Yet the Honduran side made more headlines for captain Bengston’s decision to wear a mask during a game.
It is believed that the 33-year-old has played with a face covering while featuring in his domestic league since the outbreak of coronavirus.
According to local reports, as cited by SportBible, Bengston sports the mask to avoid catching the disease and protect his family.

Olimpia coach Pedro Troglio said of his forward after the match: “It’s weird because he’s the only player on the squad and in the championship who plays with a mask.
“It doesn’t bother him and he’s also scoring goals.”
Premier League bosses were told that players should wear face masks before football’s restart back in April.
Dr Rowland Kao from the University of Edinburgh told the Guardian: “Masks tend not to protect you but protect others.

“They prevent aerosol spray but leaves open [the risk of] fomite transmission – putting your hand to your mouth or your face and then wiping it somewhere else, like a doorknob.
“It’s unclear how much protection those masks would be, but it would seem sensible to put as many precautions as you could in place.
“If you have got 300-500 people coming together [for a match behind closed doors], there’s an opportunity for multiple infections to occur.”

And with his contract expiring at the end of the season, suitors are now lining up to register their interest in Ozil.
According to DHA, Washington’s DC United are the latest to offer the 32-year-old a fresh proposal.
It is claimed Ozil is ‘most serious’ about a move to America over anything else as it could offer him the chance to expand his off-filed ventures.
The midfielder is said to believe that the e-sports team M10 Esports and his own M10 Streetwear collection will better manage their business activities Stateside.

In addition, DC United have reportedly offered Ozil the chance to establish an M10 Football Academy in the US, something he is keen on following up on.
Despite the development, the former Real Madrid star is also said to have offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Meanwhile, Turkish giants Fenerbahce were linked with a January move for Ozil.

Fenerbahce’s club congress member Murat Zorlu claims Ozil is closing in on a move in January.

He told Sport Digitale: “A source, who’s very well connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil is likely to become a Fenerbahce player during the next transfer window.
“I would say 90 per cent he will join us in one month.”
The former Germany international has family roots from Turkey despite representing Die Mannschaft 92 times, winning the World Cup in 2014.
He is also close friends with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and has been accused of endorsing his bid for re-election.
The playmaker has not featured for the North London club since March 7.
But he was still locked in a war of words with loud mouth Piers Morgan on Monday after Ozil posted a picture of himself in front of thousands of fans at the Emirates.

He added the caption: “The feeling of having fans behind you… #grateful #bestfans #hardtimes.”
The Good Morning Britain presenter, who is an Arsenal fan, was quick to respond saying: “Real Arsenal fans aren’t behind you.
“You’re our Paul Pogba – massively overpaid, massively under-performing & shockingly overinflated sense of your own importance. #truth.”
Ozil then hit back: “Piers, buddy, are you still bitter from the other day? It seems like you’re not a big fan of World Champions.
“I wish you would see as good as you hear things.”

Frustrated Giroud admits he’s finally ready to quit Chelsea in January as David Beckham’s Inter Miami eye transfer

OLIVIER GIROUD has revealed his frustration at Chelsea and admits he is ready to finally leave in January.
The French striker, who nearly left the club at the beginning of 2020, has yet to start a Premier League game for Frank Lampard’s high-flying team this season.

Giroud, 34, a target of David Beckham’s Inter Miami, said: “I’m aware of my situation.
“I will have to make a decision in January. I hope I make the right one as I’ve always done.
“It’s worrying because I thought I still had a role to play in this team, especially after ending last season so well and helping the team qualify for the Champions League.”

Speaking to French TV station Telefoot, he added: “At the start of the season I thought I could still help the team, but I’m playing much less.
“So that will have to change or I’ll have to make a decision.”
Giroud scored two goals in France’s 4-2 win over Sweden last week, bringing his tally to 44 internationals goals.
But he was back on bench at Newcastle on Saturday and was only given a brief run-out in the 87th minute in a 2-0 win.

French boss Didier Deschamps has warned Giroud that he has to be playing regularly ahead of Euro2020.

Watch outrageous MLS penalty shootout with goalkeeper sent-off, illegal sub, VAR and defender with match-winning save

PENALTY shootouts are tense at the best of times – but none have quite compared to Orlando City’s win over New York City FC on Saturday.
The match descended into chaos as a goalkeeper was sent off, an illegal sub was attempted and a defender was forced to go between the sticks for the decisive spot-kick.

Possibly the most bizarre penalty shootout of all time 😂Amongst the chaos:😭 Premature celebrations🔴 Red cards❌ Illegal substitutions🤚 Outfield player goes in goal😬 Nani misses winner😭😭 More premature celebrations⏰ 23 mins between first pen and winner pic.twitter.com/Ah4dElR1bh
    — Sky Sports (@SkySports) November 22, 2020

The score was locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes as Nani’s opener was levelled out by Maxime Chanot in the eighth minute.
After Ruan Gregorio Teixeira was sent off, the Major League Soccer match went to extra time.
Nothing could separate the two sides, so the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout.
And this is when the match took an incredible turn.

Orlando thought they had won the shootout 4-3 after goalkeeper Pedro Gallese saved Valentin Castellanos’ spot-kick.
Oscar Pareja’s side went absolutely wild on the pitch and the fans in attendance could not control their excitement.
But their joy was short-lived as officials called for the decisive penalty to be taken again.
Gallese had moved off his line before the spot kick was taken – which was confirmed by VAR.

Defender Rodrigo Schlegel decided to go in goal for the rest of the shootoutCredit: YouTube / MLS

The keeper, who was already on a yellow card, was sent off in a shock turn of events.
Orlando City then tried to put second-choice keeper Brian Rowe on the pitch.
He chucked on his gloves and made his way onto the field, but he was stopped in his tracks.
The laws of the game state that a goalkeeper can only be substituted during a shootout because of an injury.
Orlando had to think of their feet – and defender Rodrigo Schlegel stepped up.
Castellanos scored his second attempt at the penalty, but Nani missed his team’s fifth and final spot-kick.
    Sudden death followed.
Both teams scored their sixth attempt but then surprisingly, Schlegel made a great save to deny Gudmundur Thorarinsson.

Again, Orlando celebrated wildly as they thought they had FINALLY secured the win.
But in fact, they still had to wait for their own seventh penalty taker, Benji Michel, to score his.
Luckily for them, at the third time of asking, Orlando were able to celebrate their win after 23 minutes of chaos.

Inter Miami sneak into MLS playoffs on dramatic final day as David Beckham gets one over old Man Utd team-mate Jaap Stam

INTER MIAMI thundered into the MLS play-offs – in the middle of tropical storm Eta.
The wild conditions failed to derail David Beckham’s strugglers and with other results amazingly going their way, Miami sneaked through the post-season back door on a dramatic final day.

Gonzalez Pirez scored what turned out to be the crucial goalCredit: AP:Associated Press

Becks’ team needed to beat old pal Jaap Stam’s Cincinnati and pick up some favours from elsewhere to make sure a first MLS campaign didn’t end in failure.
First half strikes from Mikey Ambrose and Leandro Gonzalez Pirez helped Miami bag their part of the bargain.
A wonder goal from Joe Gyau on 66 minutes and a late red card for Inter defender Andres Reyes ensured a nervy finale but when confirmation of Atlanta and Chicago dropping points arrived, the 2,703 soaked Inter fans allowed into the stadium were dancing in the pouring rain.
Cincinnati, who’ve been bossed by Manchester United stopper Stam since May, were the only Eastern Conference side not to have a chance of making the play-offs going into ‘Decision Day’.

They have now finished bottom for the second year in a row, but Inter Miami were gunning to keep a difficult campaign going and can now look forward to a clash with fellow newcomers Nashville later this month.
The conditions were atrocious but boss Diego Alonso watched his men battle hard.
When Ambrose smashed home his first ever MLS goal on 19 minutes, the dream was alive.
Former Celtic winger Lewis Morgan can certainly bend it like Beckham and the 24-year-old brilliantly used the swirling winds to his advantage by curling a corner straight onto the head of Gonzalez Pirez for number two.

Stam’s men pushed hard late on but the home side weathered the storm superbly to spark wild scenes of celebration on the sidelines.

Qualification sparked jubilant scenesCredit: AP:Associated Press

Play-off qualification, for the side that acquired Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus back in September, was a long shot.
The MLS rookies needed to win, and two of Montreal Impact, Chicago Fire and Atlanta United to fail to gain maximum points in their respective matches against DC United, NYCFC and Columbus Crew.
Thierry Henry’s Impact did manage to win after an 88th minute Romell Quioto winner.
But a 4-3 Chicago Fire defeat and 2-1 Atlanta United loss gave Inter an unlikely lifeline and extended this most extraordinary of rookie seasons.
After the triumph, boss Alonso, 45, said: “We are very excited, it has been a difficult year but we have worked hard and today we got the reward.
“It’s a big step for us, if they were normal conditions we would have won by more but we are just happy to get there.
“We knew the results were falling into place but needed to wait and it’s great we could celebrate with the fans who came to support us in such circumstances. We dedicate this moment to them. They still showed up and that’s incredible.

This group loves to play life or death matches
    Diego Alonso

“They are some of the worst conditions I have ever seen as a player or coach and it was difficult to know how to play.
“We wanted to attack, but it wasn’t a day for a lot of touches. Every time the ball went into the air it was difficult.”
The MLS play-offs are all one leg knock-out games and Alonso added:” A new tournament starts now and we can forget what has happened in the season up until this point.
“This group loves to play life or death matches. I am delighted.”
