GARY LINEKER has recalled suffering “seven hours of torture” as a result of trying snus for the first time.
The Match of the Day host threw the product away after he was sweating pools on the floor.
Snus has increased in popularity in English football in the last decade even though its sale is illegal in the country.
There are concerns over the long-term health effects of the tobacco product including a higher chance of cancer.
Lineker, 62, tried it for the first time ahead of the opening game of Euro 2020 as he was due to host the coverage on BBC One.
He was staying in a hotel with co-hosts Micah Richards and Alan Shearer as well as Rio Ferdinand.

Lineker said that he refused the snus at first but after having a few drinks decided to try it.
He opted for a weaker choice out of the options, however it turned out to be the last time he would ever have some.
He told The Rest is Football podcast: “I got undressed ready for bed and suddenly started to feel really, really dizzy.
“So I sit on the bed and I’m stark naked, and I’ve whipped this thing straight out my mouth and thrown it in the bin. I start to sweat, but I’m freezing.

“I’m sweating and I’m sweating and there’s a pool on the floor, and I can’t move. I’m thinking what the hell have they done to me.”
As a result, Lineker began to feel very sick but struggled to make it to the bathroom as he had become dizzy.
He added: “Eventually I lay on the floor and I crawl to the toilet like a snake, just sliding, that’s the only way I could get there.
“And just before I got to the toilet, I vomit everywhere, it’s on the shower screens, it’s all over.”
Lineker then awoke on the bathroom floor and not in the best of moods with his colleagues.
“I’m back on my front, sliding like a snake.
“I got into my bed and I thought I’ll look at the time. It was 7am in the morning. I’d had seven hours of absolute torture.
“Thank you very much for that Micah.”
