Sergio Aguero ‘wants Barcelona free transfer but Ronald Koeman prioritising Man Utd flop Memphis Depay signing instead’

SERGIO AGUERO is angling for a move to Barcelona but boss Ronald Koeman is set to look elsewhere, according to reports.

Koeman instead wants to reignite his interest in international compatriot Memphis Depay when the transfer window reopens.

Aguero, 32, is set to spark a huge transfer scramble for his signature after announcing he will leave Manchester City in the summer.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been linked while a move back to where it all began at Argentine side Interpendiente could also be on the cards.

According to Marca, Aguero wants a move back to Spain to team up with his mate Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona wanted the striker when he left Atletico Madrid for Man City in 2011.

But Koeman’s transfer plans could throw a spanner in the works as he prioritises a move for Lyon’s Depay.

The boss was desperate to sign the ex-Manchester United forward last summer but Barca’s bleak finances prevented the move.

Depay, 27, is out of contract this summer and refused to extend his deal knowing of Barcelona’s interest.

Despite flopping in the two years he spent at Old Trafford, Depay has reignited his form at Lyon with 69 goals in 169 games.

Koeman is reportedly concerned over Aguero’s fitness and injury record that has limited him to just four Premier League starts this season.

His salary could also prove an issue with the club key on trimming the wage bill after Luis Suarez left for Atletico last summer.
