West Ham are pushing hard for Etienne Kinkoue but face competition
The highly-rated youngster started to turn heads in 2019 when he joined Inter Milan’s youth ranks where he made 48 appearances for the Under-19s.
The centre-back’s impressive displays at Inter saw him training with the first team, which was under ex-Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte at he time.
The Frenchman, though, never played for the senior side and was sold to Olympiacos in 2021.
The ex-France Under-17 international played for the Greek giants’ B team where he registered one assist in 23 appearances.

First-team opportunities were also scarce in Piraeus and Kinkoue wanted to take the next step.
That led to a big move to Ligue 1 outfit Le Havre last year in January.
The defender helped Luka Elsner’s side earn promotion to the French top flight last season.
Kinkoue recently earned a starting place after spending the beginning of the campaign on the bench.

David Moyes’ side have also punched their ticket to the Last 16 of the Europa League after disposing Kinkoue’s former side Olympiacos, who made it to the Europa Conference League play-offs.

Lyon believe personal terms have been broadly agreed but there are still details to finalise with Benrahma’s numerous representatives.
West Ham have been keen to move the former Brentford man on this month.
David Moyes wants to bolster his attacking options but needs to raise funds in order to do so.
Benrahma, who scored a penalty in the Europa Conference League final win in June, has never quite settled under the Scot.

The Hammers have targeted Al-Ittihad winger Jota and are in talks over an 18-month loan deal for the former Celtic man, though it is not clear whether a deal will be struck before Thursday’s deadline.
Late moves are further complicated by the fact West Ham are playing Bournemouth on Deadline Day.
Lyon had also been in talks over a move for Arnaut Danjuma, the winger on loan at Everton.
The Toffees were ready to let the former Tottenham winger leave the club so long as Lyon would sell them defender Jake O’Brien in return – but that has been rejected.

West Ham re-open transfer talks to sign Jota and end former Celtic star’s Saudi Arabian hell

WEST HAM have re-opened talks to sign ex-Celtic forward Jota from Al-Ittihad.The Portuguese winger, 24, joined the Saudi Pro League champions for £25million in July but has endured a nightmare stint in the Middle East.

Al-Ittihad failed to register him to play in the league as the division’s rules state each club is only allowed eight foreign players in their squad.
It means he has not featured in the Saudi Pro League since the start of September.
He has played just six times over the last four and a half months, with those appearances coming in the AFC Champions League and Club World Cup.
SunSport exclusively revealed back in November that his old Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was weighing up a move for him in the January window as he looks to bolster his Tottenham side.

But now it appears West Ham are eyeing a deal for the attacker.
The switch would be a loan move if David Moyes’ men are able to get it over the line – after they ended their interest in Nordsjaelland teenager Ibrahim Osman.
But it is also understood there is a tax issue involved in the deal for Jota which could prove difficult to resolve.
This is because Jota would have to pay a huge amount of tax to HMRC should he return to Britain having earned a tax-free salary in the Middle East.

Jota’s Saudi Arabian nightmareJota moved for £25million from Celtic to Al-Ittihad in the summer – with the Saudi Pro League champions also signing Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante.
Yet his time in the Middle East has been a nightmare as Al-Ittihad decided not to register him for their squad to compete in the Saudi Pro League.
That was due to the division’s rules that clubs are only allowed eight foreign players in their contingent.
It means he has played 11 times since leaving Celtic and just six times since September.
And he now appears to have joined the likes of Jordan Henderson, Aymeric Laporte and Karim Benzema in wanting out of Saudi Arabia.

Foot Mercato are reporting positive talks have taken place between the clubs and that all parties believe an agreement can be reached.
Jota, who has scored two goals for Al-Ittihad, is waiting to be given the green light to travel to the UK to undergo his West Ham medical.
He is just the latest in a line of ex-European-based stars to be disgruntled by life in Saudi Arabia.
Jordan Henderson left Liverpool for Al-Ettifaq in the summer, only to terminate his own contract and sign for Ajax earlier this month.
Jota’s team-mate and Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema is being heavily linked with a move away from Al-Ittihad.
And former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte recently slammed the Riyadh traffic in a scathing assessment of the country’s transport network. More

West Ham boss David Moyes is prioritising the signing of a wide player after securing midfielder Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.
That means the Hammers will not make a move for Callum Wilson, who is thought to be available because Newcastle are feeling the pressure of Financial Fair Play rules.
Osman can play anywhere across the front line but has been used most often as a left winger at Nordsjaelland.
Osman moved to Denmark only a year ago from the Right To Dream Academy in Ghana, the same centre that helped to develop current Hammers star Mohammed Kudus.

Like Osman, Kudus went from Ghana to Nordsjaelland.
He then moved to Ajax, from where West Ham signed him last summer.
The Hammers want to secure Kudus’ compatriot now after interest from Premier League rivals Brentford and Brighton.
West Ham confirmed the addition of Phillips from Man City on Friday.

There is no option or obligation to buy included in the deal, but the two clubs are expected to discuss a potential permanent transfer this summer.
Discussing his move, the midfielder said: “I’m really pleased to be here. There’s always been a lot of speculation about me moving to West Ham, so I’m really excited to get going now.
“There’s so much to look forward to in the second half of the season for the Club and I can’t wait to be part of it.
“There’s an unbelievable group here and if I can come in and add the quality that I know I’m capable of, I’m sure we can give the West Ham fans plenty to be excited about between now and the end of the season.” More

Benrahma can leave West Ham if the price is right but he seems to have interest in Saudi Arabia and has recently changed agents to find him a move.
French sides Lyon and Marseille also tried for Benrahma but Brentford are now in the mix after deciding Sunderland winger Jack Clarke is priced too high.
Benrahma joined West Ham in a £25million transfer from Brentford in 2021 and has since made 155 appearances for David Moyes’ side.
However, the winger has struggled to find his form this season.

Since then he has made over 150 appearances in the Premier League and helped them to Europa Conference League success last term.
But the arrival of Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City has added more competition for match action in midfield.

And, with just six months remaining on his contract, Fornals is free to talk to clubs from abroad regarding a potential free transfer in the summer.

Phillips’ entire £140,000-a-week wages will supposedly be covered by West Ham, who have also paid Manchester City a loan fee to secure the midfielder.
The 28-year-old has been desperate to leave the Etihad for more first-team opportunities with Euro 2024 on the horizon.
He could be handed his debut in claret and blue against Bournemouth on February 1.
Phillips won the Treble with City last season following his £45million move from Leeds – but he started just four games in all competitions.

And he has continued to struggle to break into the side, making just two starts this term.
Phillips has not shown his best form in a Man City shirt – even breaking down in tears after a poor performance and deciding to call his ex-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa for advice.

Despite his restricted time on the pitch, West Ham look to have beaten competition from the likes of Juventus, Crystal Palace and Newcastle to his signature.

The powerful frontman has scored ten times so far in the German top-flight and is the young and exciting type who would also keep his value.

The Hammers have also made a surprise inquiry for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran.

However, Villa are unlikely to do business for Duran, who has other admirers including Chelsea, unless there is a big offer rather than a loan deal on the table. More
