Chelsea certainly looked like they could use Maguire in their squad.
They suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Leeds on Sunday.
And options at the back are light after Kalidou Koulibaly got himself sent off late on.
It means Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah are Chelsea’s only recognised centre-backs, with the latter hoping to leave for regular minutes elsewhere.
And Tuchel will be hoping to push through a deal for either Fofana or Maguire before Chelsea’s next game against Leicester. More

French centre-back Fofana has informed the Foxes of his desire to depart amid interest from Chelsea.
He has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Blues, but Thomas Tuchel’s side are reluctant to match Leicester’s gigantic £85million asking price.
With his future in doubt, Fofana was omitted from the matchday squad as he watched his team-mates suffer a second consecutive Premier League defeat from the stands.
Maddison opened the deadlock in exquisite fashion from a free-kick, but, as the rest of the King Power were brought to their feet, a video posted on Twitter from Leicester fan @stulcfc showed glum Fofana planted in his seat.

Sitting next to his girlfriend, the youngster was unmoved as supporters around him celebrated.
Captioning the clip, the Foxes fan quipped: “Fofana overjoyed at Maddison’s goal just now.”
It could be the last time Fofana is at the King Power Stadium as a Leicester player before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.
Rodgers’ men do not play in front of their own supporters until they face Manchester United at the start of next month.

The Northern Irish gaffer, who also dropped Arsenal target Youri Tielemans for the Saints clash, commented on Fofana after Leicester’s defeat.
He said: “In terms of Wesley, it was a young player who is not in the right frame of mind to play at the moment.
“There’s a lot going on behind the scenes, which I understand. It’s a difficult moment for him.
“He’s a good kid who has been great for us while he’s been here.
“But you can’t afford to be around your team-mates and playing a Premier League game if you’re not fully focused.” More

Barcelona have 10 days to register Jules Kounde or risk losing him for FREE as he misses Real Sociedad clash

BARCELONA have just TEN DAYS to register new signing Jules Kounde or face seeing him leave on a FREE.The 23-year-old Spaniard joined the Catalan giants at the end of last month after Sevilla agreed to a transfer worth up to £46million.
Kounde is still waiting to make his competitive debut for BarcelonaCredit: Getty
But Barcelona’s perilous financial situation has left them struggling to register their new signings.
Last week, Xavi’s men did finally register four of their latest acquisitions in Robert Lewandowski, Franck Kessie, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen.
But Kounde was not included in that group and has been made to wait while Barca attempt to raise funds.
Now it has been confirmed that he will NOT be eligible to play against Real Sociedad on Sunday evening.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
That is because LaLiga require the club to balance their books before Kounde can be registered.
Barca had hoped the sale of Memphis Depay to Juventus would go some way to achieving this.
However, talks have stalled about the potential transfer of the Dutch forward.
And Sport are reporting that the departure of Depay alone would still not be sufficient enough to see Kounde registered.

If he is not registered before the transfer window closes on September 1 then he will technically be able to join another club for nothing.
This could open the door to Chelsea who had been monitoring Kounde all summer.
Thomas Tuchel’s men ended up missing out on the Sevilla centre-back, but may be interested in a second opportunity should Barca fail to get their finances in order.
The Blues are also chasing Leicester ace Wesley Fofana and Manchester United captain Harry Maguire. More

United are keen on Bees striker Toney and could launch a bid before the end of the window, but they may not be the only ones.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea and Everton also see the 26-year-old as the answer to their respective forward woes.
The Blues are after a front man after flogging Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner – with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their No1 choice.
Personal terms have been agreed with the former Arsenal ace, but Chelsea are yet to settle upon a fee with Barcelona.

The poverty-pleading Catalan side want £21million for Aubameyang, a fee the Blues don’t want to pay.
Chelsea have offered £15m plus Marcos Alonso and could move on to Toney if Barca don’t accept.

Alternatively, boss Thomas Tuchel could still demand TWO strikers be brought in as he looks for extra firepower.
As for Everton, Frank Lampard’s side have been hit by yet another injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In the England international’s absence, Anthony Gordon and Salomon Rondon have been tried up front, with neither able to inspire the Toffees to a first win of the season.
Man United, meanwhile, are chasing moves for Eredivisie wingers Antony and Cody Gakpo.
But should Cristiano Ronaldo leave, they could accelerate efforts to try and sign Toney.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag shocked by Donny van de Beek’s broken confidence but will NOT let him seal Ajax loan transfer

AJAX have been told there is no chance of taking Donny van de Beek back to Holland – because Erik ten Hag is convinced he can still play a key role at Manchester United.Van de Beek’s former club had hoped a lack of game time may see United let him return to them on loan for the season.

But Ten Hag, the man who sold him to United two years ago, is confident the midfielder can force his way into the starting line-up.
The Old Trafford manager was shocked at how far Van de Beek’s confidence has dropped since he was his gaffer in Amsterdam.
Now Ten Hag has held talks with the 25-year-old to find out why he hasn’t shown the form which saw United pay £35million for him in 2020.
And he has told Van de Beek there is no reason why he cannot make a big impression in Manchester.

United’s coaching staff are happy with his efforts in training.
But Ten Hag is keen for him to take the risks in his game that earned a move to England in the first place.
Ajax cannot afford van de Beek’s wages of around £100,000 a week.
The Dutch champions hoped United would subsidise any deal if a spell back at the club where he established his reputation sparked a return to his best.

But although it could happen in January if he remains a bit-part figure, there is no chance in this window, with ten Hag also wary of being left with a lack of numbers.
Despite arriving with a tag as one of Europe’s hottest prospects, Van de Beek has started just four league games for United and spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton.
Yet the Reds’ woeful start to the campaign, leaving them without a point from the first two fixtures, could open the door to a bigger role in Monday’s clash with Liverpool. More
