Zinedine Zidane tells Gareth Bale ‘we wish you well’ ahead of Spurs transfer and says he’s been ‘spectacular’ for Real

REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane has labelled Gareth Bale as ‘spectacular’ as the winger closes in on a return to Tottenham.
Spurs are set to announce the loan signing of the 31-year-old, which could extend until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

Although fans will have to wait another month to see him in action as the Wales international is currently nursing a knee injury.
Much has been said about the strained relationship between Bale and Zidane, with the ex-Southampton ace starting just once for Los Blancos since March.
But Zizou has stated that the pair remain on friendly terms, as the Frenchman wished Bale well back in the Premier League.
In quotes obtained by the Metro, he said: “I haven’t spoken to Bale. I know what he has done in this team.

“He has been spectacular for this team, nobody can say otherwise. There are negotiations. If he moves, we only wish him well.”
Before adding: “I’ve not had any problems with Gareth. The situation is not firm, it’s not done, I cannot say more.”
Asked what Real are losing with Bale departing, Zidane remarked: “It’s not about that. It’s life, everyone can have an opinion.
“Gareth is our player for the moment and the issue is still to be closed.”

Bale will be joined by his Real team-mate Sergio Reguilon in North London, with the left-back poised to link up with Jose Mourinho’s side.
Commenting on the 23-year-old, Zidane said: “We must congratulate Reguilon on the season he had.
“We have two players per position and I already have two full-backs. I wish him all the best because he had a good season at Sevilla and he deserves to be at Tottenham.”

Gareth Bale beams as he lands in Luton to seal Tottenham transfer return and ends his Real Madrid hell

GARETH BALE beamed as he landed at Luton Airport to seal his sensational return to Tottenham and end his Real Madrid hell.
The golf-mad Wales star, 31, had been frozen out at the Bernabeu by Zinedine Zidane.

But now he has arrived back in the UK on a private jet to complete his season-long loan move to his former club.
Bale quit Spurs for Los Blancos a then-world-record £86million move in 2013.
Seven years later, Bale is preparing to return to North London.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was spotted arriving at the club’s Enfield training base at the crack of dawn on Friday, seemingly to conclude the deal.

Levy looked visibly nervous as he chewed on his fingernails as Bale flew over France, across The Channel and back onto home soil.
Both Tottenham and Manchester United had been keen on brining Bale home.
But the Londoners appear to have won the race.

Spurs opted against an £18.5million move and instead settled for a season-long loan deal, with the Premier League side set to pay just 50 per cent of his wages.

However, that still means Tottenham must fork out a club-high £325,000 a week for Bale – ahead of £200,000 per week striker Harry Kane.
The Welshman will immediately be stuck on a personalised, intensive training regime.
Having been frozen out by Zinedine Zidane for so long, Spurs have some fears over his fitness with just 215 minutes of action for club and country since February.
It’s thought Bale could take as long as FOUR WEEKS to get up to speed and match-readiness.
With a gruelling schedule ahead, it may be tough for Mourinho to resist picking Bale, with Premier League action along with domestic AND European cup games ahead.
With Bale arriving – along with full-back Sergio Reguilon, seemingly on the way – Mourinho has now suggested he has too many players.
Some stars may be shown the exit this summer, with Dele Alli a shock target for Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan, according to reports.

Man Utd go back in for Alex Telles in £18m transfer from Porto as Solskjaer misses out on Reguilon to Tottenham

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly back in for Porto left-back Alex Telles after missing out on Sergio Reguilon.
The Red Devils were looking at Telles, 27, earlier this summer with the aim of adding depth to their squad given Luke Shaw’s injury record.

And A Bola reports Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has renewed his interest with Real Madrid’s Reguilon set to join Tottenham.
Reguilon, 23, was reportedly at Spurs’ training ground on Wednesday for a medical ahead of a £25million move from Los Blancos.
United are thought to have been put off by Madrid’s insistence on inserting a buy-back clause into the deal.
They have now turned their attention to Brazilian Telles who is available for £18m.

Attacking full-back Telles is in the last year of his deal at Porto.
And the Portuguese club risk seeing him leave for free at the end of the season if they don’t cash in now.
Telles’ renewal talks with Porto broke down after he asked for wages of up to £88,000 a week.
The club had to halve their initial £36m asking price to try and get a deal towards the finish line.

Telles joined the Portuguese champions in 2016 from Galatasaray and could arrive at Old Trafford for around £5m less than Spurs are forking out for Reguilon.
He is available without a buy-back clause and was previously on Chelsea’s radar before Frank Lampard coughed up £50m to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester.
Telles spent a year on loan at Inter Milan in 2015-16 but the Serie A side elected not to make it a permanent move.
He bagged 13 goals and 12 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions last season.

Sergio Reguilon at Tottenham training ground for medical ahead of £25m transfer from Real Madrid in blow to Man Utd

TOTTENHAM are closing in on the signing of Sergio Reguilon with the Real Madrid defender reportedly at the club’s training ground.
Spurs look to have beaten Manchester United in the race to prise the left-back away from the Bernabeu, having agreed a deal to bring him to North London.

Jose Mourinho’s side are said to have had a fee in the region of £25million accepted for the 23-year-old.

And, according to the Evening Standard, Reguilon is already at Hotspur Way having arrived at the complex on Wednesday.
They claim that he is set to have his medical on Thursday ahead of finalising his switch from Spain.

It has been suggested that the club could announce his signing on Thursday ahead of their Europa League second qualifying round clash against Bulgarian outfit Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
Spurs are understood to have accepted a number of clauses from Real in their deal to sign the ex-Sevilla loanee.
One of those is that the LaLiga champions have the option to buy him back for £36m within the next two years.
Another is that Real can match any fee that Spurs agrees with another club should they decide to sell him within that period.

Reguilon could be joined by his Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale at Spurs, with the Welsh winger on the brink of re-joining the club on loan.

Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett has fuelled speculation of Bale’s arrival, as he admitted that a deal is ‘close’.
He told AFP: “It’s close but not done.
    “It’s a complicated deal.”

Jose Mourinho hints at Gareth Bale transfer as Tottenham boss reveals he tried to sign Welshman while at Real Madrid

JOSE MOURINHO hinted Gareth Bale could be the missing piece of the puzzle at Tottenham – as he went all cryptic at the prospect of the Welshman’s return.
The Spurs boss refused to comment directly on his club’s bid to re-sign the Real Madrid superstar on a season-long loan.

He said: “A squad is a puzzle and when a new signing completes the puzzle it’s a great feeling for the team.”
SunSport revealed yesterday that Tottenham are in talks to land Bale – who left for the Bernabeu in 2013 for a then-world record fee of £86million.
But when asked about his return, Mourinho said: “Gareth Bale is a Real Madrid player and I don’t comment on players from other clubs.”

The Spurs boss did reveal he tried to sign Bale when he was in charge of Real Madrid, adding: “It was not possible to do it in my time there and the season after I left they brought Bale to the club.”
Tottenham would pay around £20m to take their former star back on loan.
But they know they now have to move quickly as rivals Manchester United are attempting to seal a season-long loan for the former Southampton trainee – who can leave Real Madrid after being frozen out by their manager Zinedine Zidane.
Jonathan Barnett, the player’s agent, insists there are vital details still to be hammered out in talks between the three parties.

He told AFP: “It’s close but not done. It’s a complicated deal.”

Bale’s £650,000-a-week wage bill is thought to be a major negotiating topic in the loan deal.
Spurs, who are also in talks to sign Real left-back Sergio Reguilon, want Real Madrid to continue to pay a large chunk.
Bookies stopped taking bets on the transfer on Wednesday.
Having shortened the odds as low as 1/6, Ladbrokes announced at lunchtime that they had suspended the market.
But Spurs fans are unlikely to see Bale back in their shirt for a month – even if he completes a stunning return to the club in the next 48 hours.
The earliest the brilliant winger is likely to be free to make his second debut for the North London side would be October 17 – a clash with bitter rivals West Ham – as a result of Covid-19 quarantine rules and another international break.
Tottenham welcome back Giovani Lo Celso for tomorrow’s Europa League qualifier at Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria.
But Japhet Tanganga remains sidelined with injury and fellow defender Serge Aurier is a doubt after picking up a knock in training.

Gareth Bale transfer back to Tottenham ‘close but complicated’ reveals agent as bookies suspend betting on move

GARETH BALE’S move back to Tottenham has been described as “close” – with bookies suspending betting on the stunning switch.
The Welshman is in talks with his old side over a loan move that would see him link up with Jose Mourinho.

Jonathan Barnett, the player’s agent, insists there are vital details still to be hammered out in talks between the three parties.
But a deal is nearing completion, amid rival interest from Manchester United.
Barnett told AFP: “It’s close but not done.

    “It’s a complicated deal.”
Bale’s £650,000-a-week wage bill is thought to be a major negotiating topic in the loan deal.
Spurs, who are also in talks to sign Real left-back Sergio Reguilon, want to seal the switch before United can fully enter the running.
And bookies stopped taking bets on the transfer on Wednesday.

Having shortened the odds as low as 1/6, Ladbrokes announced at lunchtime that they had suspended the market.

Bale is thought to be keen to return to North London having left in 2013 for £85million.
Last month, the 31-year-old opened the door to a Premier League return after Madrid pulled the plug on a move to China last year.
He stated: “If [Premier League] options arise it is something I’d look at for sure.
“We’ll see what happens, we have plenty of time in this transfer window and a couple of others as well.

Real Madrid want to get Bale and his £650,000 weekly salary off their mammoth wage bill

“Time will tell but mainly I think the reason is that the decision is in Real Madrid’s hands.
“I tried to leave last year but they blocked everything at the last second. It was a project I was excited for but it didn’t materialise.
“There have been other instances where we have tried to go but the club won’t allow it or they’ve done something. It’s down to the club.
“I want to play football, I am still motivated to play football, so I guess it’s on the club.”

Gareth Bale close to Tottenham return as Spurs hijack Man Utd transfer plans More

Gareth Bale’s first game back for Tottenham would not be until NEXT month… even if transfer is done in next 48 hours

TOTTENHAM fans are unlikely to see Gareth Bale in their shirt for a month – even if he completes a stunning move back to the club in the next 48 hours.
Bale is edging close to making a dramatic return to Spurs on loan as he seeks a way out from his Real Madrid nightmare.

    1

But though Daniel Levy is on the brink of sealing a complicated deal, SunSport understands the 31-year-old is still not planning to travel to London imminently.
And the earliest the brilliant winger is likely to be free to make his second debut for the North London side would be October 17 – a clash with bitter rivals West Ham.
There are complicated issues to thrash out in a contract that would see Real stump up a large chunk of his £650,000-a-week salary just to get him off their wage bill.

Until they are ironed out, Bale will remain in Madrid reporting for pre-season training with Zinedine Zidane’s squad.
Even if they are sorted by the weekend and Bale returns to the UK, he would then have to go into quarantine for 14 days under government rules to control Covid-19.
That would leave him unable to link up with Jose Mourinho’s squad until October 2, with Spurs facing a trip to Manchester United the following day.

It seems impossible for him to be considered for the match at Old Trafford, and then the Premier League season goes on the back burners for another international break.

Given his involvement with Wales, it would mean Bale would not be able to take part in full training with Mourinho and Spurs until the couple of days leading up to the home game against the Hammers on October 17.
So though Tottenham fans are struggling to contain their excitement, they will have to wait for a full month before they will see their hero back in the white shirt again.
