    Return of the Mac
Mancxhester United have finalised deals to bring Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren in as part of incoming manager Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff.
Van der Gaag has been Ten Hag’s No2 at Ajax since last year and helped the Dutch giants clinch the Eredivisie title for a third season in a row.
Meanwhile, former England boss McClaren had the Dutchman as his assistant back when they won the Dutch title with Twente in 2010.
And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that the pair will be arriving to work with Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Speaking on social media, he said: “Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren will be part of new Man United coaching staff, confirmed.
“Full agreement at final stages and set to be signed with both of them”
    Rangnick to juggle two roles
Ralf Rangnick is determined to make the most out of the consultancy role he has agreed to take up at Manchester United once the season comes to an end.
Rangnick joined United in November as interim boss following a deal that will see him being promoted as a consultant for the club in June.
The German head coach was later announced as the next Austria manager, which raised questions as to how he will be able to juggle his next managerial job when he moves upstairs at Old Trafford.
According to The Times, however, the 63-year-old tactician is committed to his upcoming duties and wants his position at the club to be “meaningful”.
Rangnick is already in contact with incoming boss Erik ten Hag via Lars Kornetka, who is a mutual friend
    More on Dybala
Juventus star Paulo Dybala, who was previously linked with Manchester United, is set to leave Turin in the summer.
As mentioned earlier, Dybala will be looking to join a team that will be playing in next season’s Champions League.
If that’s so, the United are ruled out as they look set to finish either sixth or seventh.
And the forward would need a £10million signing-on fee as well as wages of about £200,000-a-week

    Dybala transfer message
Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign outgoing Juventus star Paulo Dybala, who has been previously linked with Manchester United, but there is a catch.
Dybala is only keen on signing for a club that will be playing in the Champions League next season.
And that will make it even more crucial for any suitor to make it to the competition.
Therefore, the Red Devils may be unable to lure the forward to Old Trafford as they will not be in next season’s Champions League
    Man Utd eye Kante
Incoming Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been linked with a sensational swoop for Chelsea star N’Golo Kante this summer.
The takeover disruption at Stamford Bridge has convinced a number of teams that some of the Blues’ prized assets are up for grabs at the end of the season.
According to The Mirror, this has led to United chiefs, including Ten Hag, believing a swoop for Kante is realistic.
The news comes after SunSport exclusively revealed that the West Londoners were fearing the midfielder would be one of a number of players on their way out of the club.
Chelsea are already losing Antonio Rudiger, who is joining Real Madrid, as well as Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, who have been linked with Barcelona.
That is after the club were restricted from doing business back in March following sanctions placed on departing owner Roman Abramovich

“Talks with his management have taken place and Manchester United is seriously interested”

Ince was handed the reins temporarily in February when Veljko Paunovic was given the boot.

The former midfielder will have Alex Rae beside him as assistant manager next season
    Xavi on De Jong
Barcelona manager Xavi has conceded that Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong may leave in the summer.
The Spanish tactician said: “For me, he is a very important player.
“He has been a starter almost always, except when he has been rotated.
“He is a fundamental footballer, but then there is the financial situation of the club.
“He is a player that I like very much, but we are going to see how the situation is”
    Darwin Nunez boost
Manchester United have received a transfer boost in their bid to sign Benfica star Darwin Nunez as his club closes in on signing a replacement.
According to The Athletic, the Portuguese giants are lining up a swoop for Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic.
The Lisbon outfit are expecting to lose United target Nunez this summer and ideally want a deal completed as soon as possible to allow them plenty of time to fill the void.
Now moves are being made to bring Kalajdzic to replace their star striker, who has also been linked with Arsenal
    Juventus want to re-sign Pogba
Juventus are ready to offer Paul Pogba an £8million-a-year payday to re-sign him in the summer transfer window.

The same report suggests it will be worth £160,000-per-week, and will include a huge signing-on-fee as well as bonuses.

    De Jong transfer blow
Barcelona star and Manchester United transfer target Frenkie de Jong is willing to leave nearly £6million in unpaid wages on the table to clinch a move to Manchester City, reports SunSport’s Phil Thomas.
As SunSport recently revealed, incoming United boss Erik ten Hag wants De Jong but City manager Pep Guardiola is also a big fan.
Barca are still fighting their way out of a financial crisis, which saw players defer 40 per cent of wages for an entire year.
And the Netherlands international is still owed a bumper figure, which he could waive to make a move happen.
Guardiola is in the market for a new midfielder to replace the departing Fernandinho
    Laird loved life on loan
Man Utd youngster Ethan Laird spent the second half of the season out on loan at Championship’s promoted side Bournemouth.
The 20-year-old has made six appearances for the Cherries this season and speaking to the club’s website he said: “I didn’t stop screaming for days after the Forest game, I was keeping the vibes going in camp.”
“I realise that there are repercussions to that – losing my voice! I think it’s been very easy to see our feelings about promotion, we’re all buzzing.”
Bournemouth sealed promotion with a win over Nottingham Forest.
    De Ligt up for sale?
Juventus are meeting Paul Pogba’s entourage today to discuss his possible return to the club.

And the Sydney Morning Herald revealed that Man Utd recommended him to Macarthur.
Yorke scored 48 goals for Man Utd in 96 appearances.
Ten Hag’s No2 nearly died during match
Man Utd’s potential next No2 Mitchell van der Gaag once collapsed during a match as a result of a heart problem.
The 50-year-old has been widely reported to be the club’s new assistant manager following advanced talks.
But what fans may now know about Van der Gaag is that he almost died in September 2013 when he was manager of Portuguese outfit Belenenses.
Van der Gaag helped the club win the second division title in the previous campaign and was looking to make his mark in the Primeira Liga early into the 2013-14 term.
However he was forced to take a temporary leave of absence having collapsed during the 1-0 win against Maritimo.
He required two shocks from a defibrillator to save his life.
Ten Hag’s right hand man is known for focusing on coaching defences.
    It dozen look good
Man Utd’s list of released players could hit DOUBLE FIGURES with six first-team stars set to leave the club.
Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Lee Grant could all head out the exit door.
Also multiple young players could go such as, Ondrej Mastny, 20, left-back Reece Devine, 20, midfielders Charlie Wellens, 19, and Connor Stanley, 20, as well as forwards D’Mani Mellor, 21, and Mateo Mejia, 19.

    Following in Ten Hag’s footsteps
Erik ten Hag has spoken about the potential of signing highly rated Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber.
He is just 20-years-old but he has been a star of the title winning team and he’s been capped by the Dutch national team six times already.
A reunion with ten Hag at Man Utd could be on the cards.
The new manager said: “I think all top clubs have Timber in their sight.”
He also commented on Brazilian winger Antony, he said: “If Antony would go — it would be a blow for Ajax because in their current squad there is nobody to replace him.”
    Henderson wanted by Newcastle
Manchester United backup goalkeeper Dean Henderson could be on his way out of Old Trafford over the summer with Newcastle keen to sign him for £20million.
The shot-stopper, 25, was linked with a loan move to Toon in January but the two clubs failed to reach a deal.
Now the Magpies could make a move this summer to sign Henderson on a permanent basis, report The Mirror.
Henderson is said to be keen to play first-team football and could seek a move if he fails to get assurances from Erik ten Hag that he will be first choice next season.
Newcastle reportedly view the England international as the ideal successor to current No1 Martin Dubravka.
    Neves could choose against United
Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is set to leave the club this season with Man Utd and Barcelona keen.
However, Sport are reporting the player is close to agreeing a deal with the Catalan giants.
The player’s agent is Jorge Mendes and he is playing a big part in the deal.
Neves was seen tearful yesterday as he said goodbye to the Wolves fans after their game versus Norwich.
Ten Hag comments land him in hot water
Erik ten Hag worked alongside former Arsenal winger Marc Overmars at Ajax helping to build a talented young team.
Overmars left the Eredivise champions back in February.
This came as a result of sending a series of “inappropriate messages” to female colleagues.
However, Ten Hag categorically stated that he believes Overmars could still have a future at Ajax.
As reported by newspaper Het Parool, he said: “If Johan Derksen can return to TV, Overmars can return to Ajax.”
TV presenter Derksen, 73, seemingly admitted live on air last month that he sexually assaulted an unconscious woman 50 years ago, although he later backtracked on his comments.
And while Dutch prosecutors have opened an enquiry, TV show Today Inside later revealed that he would be returning.
When elaborating on Overmars’ situation, Ten Hag added: “We humans are in this world to help each other and not to shoot each other.
‘I have said many times: this championship is also his championship. We built this team together.
“After the game against Heerenveen, I also congratulated Marc with the title via text.'”
Ten Hag plans to keep Ronaldo
Erik ten Hag has stated that he plans to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at the club and he does have a future at Old Trafford.
He told Dutch media: “I want to keep Cristiano at Man Utd, of course. He has been very important for this club.
“Ronaldo is a giant, because of everything he has shown so far and because of how ambitious he is.”
The 37-year-old has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season.
Ten Hag knows he must re-build
The soon to arrive Erik ten Hag has explained that he is well aware of the task he faces at Old Trafford
He said: “I had choices to work at a different club, with a better foundation. But I chose Man Utd.
“Things have to get addressed there and that’s a challenge.
“The club and I are on the same wavelength about how I want to do this.”

    Tuchel wants Mount investigation
Thomas Tuchel called for an investigation into abuse aimed at Mason Mount after having his FA Cup final penalty saved.
The 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder was subjected to four-letter rants and branded a ‘bottle job’ by online trolls on social media.
Mount’s spot-kick was stopped by Alisson moments before Kostas Tsimikas stepped up to clinch a first FA Cup in 16 years for Liverpool in a 6-5 shootout win.
Chelsea boss Tuchel said: “Nothing I can say will stop these guys doing it. I don’t understand social media anyway. It has a huge impact and I don’t get it.
“I’m not on social media and it keeps me healthy, more healthy than I would be on it. It’s a very thin ice for everybody who is in such a spotlight to be out there. Abuse is not acceptable, be it here or on social media.
“If someone thinks he has the right to write it, we will not be able to stop him — but maybe we can investigate.”

    Christensen shock
Andreas Christensen pulled out of Chelsea’s FA Cup final squad just hours before kick off – leaving team-mates stunned.
The defender told boss Thomas Tuchel that he was not ready to play.
Christensen had played the whole 90 minutes of the previous match at Leeds.
Surprised Tuchel was forced into an emergency reshuffle of his Wembley plans and started rookie Trevoh Chalobah in the Denmark centre back’s absence.
Chelsea went on to lose the final 6-5 on penalties to Liverpool after extra time.
An hour after the final whistle Tuchel confirmed that Christensen is leaving Chelsea when the season finishes next Sunday.
    Perisic prefers Juve move
Transfer target Ivan Perisic would reportedly prefer a move to Juventus, despite claims the Blues have agreed a deal with the Croatian.
The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, and has yet to agree to a deal with his club, Inter Milan.
According to Sports Mediaset, Chelsea have agreed a deal with the midfielder on a free transfer as his contract draws to a close.
But now Get Football News Italy report that Perisic is said to favour staying in Serie A.
And it has been claimed that Turin would be his preferred destination, instead of West London.
    Guess who
This Chelsea legend and serial trophy winner looks unrecognisable with a new hairstyle and trendy goatee beard.
But can you guess who it is?

This former Stamford Bridge favourite used to run the show from midfield each week.
Making an instant impact in London, he spent five-and-a-half years with Chelsea.
And he also won an impressive 52 caps for his country.
    Guessed who it is yet?

Antonio Rudiger wanted his Chelsea career to end on a high, following a disappointing campaign.
The giant defender has agreed a contract with Real Madrid after the Blues failed to agree a new deal with the German international.
Rudiger told The Athletic: “There was a chance but sanctions are not the problem. I don’t want to go too deep in things. At the end of the day it’s not only about one side (helping the other), it’s both sides — Chelsea have been great to me, I have been great to Chelsea.
“As always, I am very, very thankful me, my family. I became a man here. My kids were born here and everything. London and especially Chelsea will always be special to me.
“It’s been five years as normal with ups and downs, but with a lot of positive things. That’s why I’m even more frustrated because I wanted to have a different ending.”
    Chelsea in Lewandowski hunt
Chelsea are reportedly in the chase for Poland legend Robert Lewandowski.
According to Jan Age Fjortoft, the Blues could add the Bayern Munich striker to their ranks next season.
However, the ex-Norway striker revealed that Barcelona are still the favourites for his signature, if he is to leave the Bavarians.

    Chelsea Women win Cup
Chelsea Women did what the men couldn’t by winning the FA Cup.
Emma Hayes’ side recorded a 3-2 win over Man City after extra time – thanks to a Sam Kerr strike.

The Aussie striker had given the Blues the lead in the first half, only for Lauren Hemp to equalise.
Erin Cuthbert put Chelsea ahead again, before Hayley Raso scored a dramatic 89th minute equaliser.
However, it was Kerr who would decide things in the 99th minute and break City’s fans’ hearts.
    Shearer’s Werner claim
Alan Shearer believes Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel went wrong by not playing Timo Werner against Liverpool in the FA Cup fina.
“With Chelsea, Havertz is injured. But I’m surprised Werner’s not playing, because of his pace, because of the high line we know Liverpool play,” Shearer said.
“I know he gets offside a lot but it would have been a huge threat for him to be running behind.”
    Tuchel explains Loftus-Cheek decision
Thomas Tuchel has revealed why he subbed Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of the ill-fated penalty shoot-out against Liverpool.
Loftus-Cheek had barely got involved in the action having being brought on shortly before getting subbed for Ross Barkely as penalties loomed.
And explaining his decision to do so, Tuchel said: “No, that was purely for penalties.
“Ruben has not got a good history, statistically, and Ross has so it was purely because of the penalties.”
    Rudiger’s Real choice
Antonio Rudiger was so intent on a move to Real Madrid he reportedly turned down more lucrative offers from a number of European heavyweights.
Both PSG and Bayern Munich tried to snatch Rudiger from Real’s clutches by offering him more money, according to Diario AS.
And Bayern were the most keen on Rudiger after getting dumped out the Champions League by Villarreal, the report also states.
However, the chance to play for Real was too good to turn down and the defender ultimately opted for a move to the Bernabeu.
    Perisic wants Juve transfer

When asked if he was okay after the game, he replied: “All good” and reassured fans that he would be available for the Champions League final against Real Madrid later this month.
    Vidic names toughest opponents
Man United legend Nemanja Vidic has named the four toughest opponents he faced in the Premier League.

And he pointed to Chelsea’s success in the World Club Cup and European Super Cup as proof that the Blues are capable of challenging for trophies.
He said: “I think we have what it takes to win trophies and we proved it.
“Somebody wanted to convince me that we had a trophy-less season but we have the World Club Cup and the European Super Cup.
“We did everything to win these two matches but we have to accept that our opponents deserve also to win these matches and they did it.”
    Keane’s disdain for Fabregas
Roy Keane once threatened to ‘smash Cesc Fabregas in’ when the midfielder clattered into him.
Fabregas risked Keane’s wrath after tackling the Irishman really hard when Arsenal played Man United in the FA Cup final.
Keane let Gerard Pique know just how close Fabregas was to a beating a few years later.
Fabregas recalled to The Times: “I tackled Roy Keane really hard and I felt really good about it because he was always giving me a tough time.
“A few years later, Gerard Pique [his friend from Barcelona’s La Masia academy] said to me that at half-time Keane said, ‘That Spanish friend of yours, I will smash him, he killed me.’”

    Alisson’s plan to stop Mendy
Alisson devised a secret plot to stop Edouard Mendy from playing mind games on Liverpool’s FA Cup Final penalty takers – by hand delivering the ball to his teammates.
The Chelsea ‘keeper has a history of interfering during penalties when helping Senegal to beat Egypt via spot-kicks in the Africa Cup of Nations final in February.
Alisson was adamant that would not happen again, and he scooped up the ball after each Chelsea kick and walked straight to his pal to give them it.
Only Sadio Mane, Mendy’s international teammate, missed a penalty for Liverpool.
    Rudiger speaks on frustration
Antonio Rudiger is frustrated that he hasn’t left Chelsea with a FA Cup winner medal after yesterday’s loss to Liverpool.

“That’s why I’m even more frustrated because I wanted to have a different ending.”
    Terry reveals FA Cup pain
John Terry revealed he was devastated after witnessing Chelsea’s FA Cup final loss.
But the Blues legend still found the time to praise Liverpool’s Luis Diaz who was the game’s Man Of The Match.
Terry said on Instagram in a message that Diaz shared: “Absolutely devastated, but you are a fantastic player my friend.”
    Rudiger explains quitting reasons
Antonio Rudiger has dismissed the theory that Government sanctions are behind his decision to quit Chelsea.
The German defender is leaving for Real Madrid on a free transfer once the Premier League season finishes on Sunday week.
Strict rules imposed due to owner Roman Abramovich’s links to Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin have banned Chelsea from negotiating new contracts with existing players but Rudiger insists it was other issues which stopped him staying.
But Rudiger, who suffered FA Cup Final defeat to Liverpool on Saturday, said: “There was a chance but sanctions are not the problem. I don’t want to go too deep in things.
“At the end of the day it’s not only about one side (helping the other), it’s both sides – Chelsea have been great to me, I have been great to Chelsea.
“As always, I am very, very thankful me, my family. I became a man here. My kids were born here and everything. London and especially Chelsea will always be special to me.”
    Mo Salah’s classy gesture
Mohamed Salah invited former Egypt team-mate Moamen Zakaria into the Liverpool dressing room to celebrate their FA Cup win over Chelsea.
Salah was forced to watch a large part of Saturday’s final from the sidelines after being forced off through injury.
Liverpool’s epic dressing room celebrations where shared with former Egypt star Zakaria, who has motor neurone disease, after he was invited in by Salah.
    Hav some of that
Kai Havertz, was also another absentee from the squad due to a hamstring injury.
Discussing the problems afterwards, he said: “Kai did not train because of hamstring problems and we thought he would injure himself.
“We did a test on Saturday morning but it was not better.”
    Tuch and go for Werner
Thomas Tuchel has revealed Timo Werner told him he did not want to play in the FA Cup Final after suffering a problem in the warm-up.
Chelsea fans were shocked as the German forward was left as an unused substitute during the penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool at Wembley.
He said: “Timo felt uncomfortable in the warm-up and said he could not play.
“A hamstring as well. We had no options.”

Ten Hag has agreed to cut short a planned holiday to take charge of Manchester United from Monday, cutting short his Ajax contract.
After Ajax’s game against Vitesse on Sunday, ten Hag said: “From tomorrow, my focus will be on United, and I will of course get deep into things there.
“What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around.
“We have to make them function as a team but definitely Ronaldo, he is a giant.”
    Juve’s Pogba deal
Juventus are ready to offer Paul Pogba an £8million-a-year payday to sign, according to reports.
The Mirror claim that the French World Cup winner, who is out of contract at the end of the season, will be offered a mega deal worth £160,000-per-week, as well as a huge signing on fee and bonuses.
The huge signing on fee and the bonuses are said to be a sweetener because of the basic contract.
    Ten Hag’s arrival
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag will start his Man Utd job on Monday, it has been confirmed.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Dutch tactician will arrive on Monday and get to work immediately.
He will joined by Mitchell van der Gaar, who will be part of his coaching staff, and reportedly Steve McLaren.
    Shaw’s new deal
Luke Shaw is being made to wait for his new deal at Manchester United by incoming boss Erik ten Hag.
According to reports, ten Hag has the final word in sanctioning the £180,00-per-week contract for the England defender.
Brazilian midfielder Fred is also said to be in a similar situation – as ten Hag looks for his own signings to create his own identity at the club.

Paulo Dybala has confirmed he will leave Juventus in an emotional message addressing his future.

    Ten Hag’s holiday
Erik Ten Hag is planning his holidays after a successful season with Ajax.
But already the Dutch tactician is thinking ahead about his next job – as Man Utd boss.
“It’s time to turn the switch now,” ten Hag said after Ajax’s final match of the season against Vitesse.
“It’s something that is needed because there is a lot to take care of and I have the energy for it.”
Ten Hag added: “A number of things still need to be organised in the staff and also in the selection [at Man United]. We will be working intensively on this from tomorrow.”
    Sancho’s hope
Man Utd winger Jadon Sancho is hopeful for a fresh under a new boss.
Next season Erik ten Hag comes in at Old Trafford, and Sancho is hoping to pick up his form after a difficult first season at the club.
“To start again fresh, with a new manager coming in, we’re looking forward to seeing what his ideas and plans for the team are. You only have to think positively,” he said.
“My career is only getting started and, hopefully, it will take off soon. This has been a difficult season, especially being a Manchester United player, with what the club has achieved over the years.
“United is known for winning trophies and being up there with the best. This season has been a difficult one for all of us, but I think we still have to show belief again.”
    Eriksen wants Champions League football
Christian Eriksen has revealed that he would like to play in the Champions League again amid transfer interest from Man United and Tottenham.
Speaking to Viaplay, Eriksen said: “I do not think that there are some football players who can just pick and choose between clubs, because there are many criteria that come into play. There are also many clubs that need to see one’s path before that happens.
“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision.
“I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me.”

Vidic made the admissions to The Athletic.

    Ten Hag wants Kante
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been linked with a sensational swoop for N’Golo Kante this summer in a bid to bolster his midfield options next season.
According to The Mirror, chiefs at Manchester United, including Ten Hag, believe a swoop for Kante is a realistic proposition.
The news comes after SunSport exclusively revealed that the Blues were fearing Kante would be one of a number of players on their way out of the club.
    Juventus’ Poga contract offer revealed
Juventus have reportedly prepared an offer to try and recruit Paul Pogba.
Juve won’t be able to match the wages Pogba currently receives at Man United.

“Having played in the inaugural A-League men’s season, I have continually followed the competition, and am aware of both the footballing and fan demands in Australia.

    Arsenal agree Hickey transfer deal
Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £21 million transfer fee with Bologna to sign Aaron Hickey.
Hickey operates mainly for Bologna at left full-back and has attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle, Manchester United and Napoli in the past.
And now it seems that it is the Gunners that have won the race for the Scotland international’s signature.
That’s according to CalcioNapoli24.it, who state that a transfer fee of £21m has been agreed between the two clubs.
They claim that Bologna’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon allegedly flew to London recently for talks with the Gunners.
And those discussions led to an agreement being made for the player.
    Man United’s part-exchange plan
Man United are reportedly hoping to use Anthony Martial in a part-exchange deal with Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Napoli have already rejected an offer from the Red Devils for Osimhen.

But United also have to fend off interest from Arsenal who are tracking the striker too.
    Former United star’s challenges
Luke Chadwick has opened up on the challenges he faced while at Man United.
Chadwick said: “Injuries throughout my younger years took a little bit of pace away and without that, I wasn’t at the level to go on to be a great United player.
“Playing for Cambridge against United was mad really – it was a great way to end my career.
“It was amazing going back there. I remember walking off the pitch at Old Trafford to a standing ovation and it meant so much. I didn’t even know that the fans would remember who I was. It was an amazing end to my career.”

“United is known for winning trophies and being up there with the best. This season has been a difficult one for all of us, but I think we still have to show belief again.”
    Ten Hag’s huge mistake

That’s according to West Ham legend Frank McAvennie.
He told Football Insider: “Well it looks like Cavani is going which is a ludicrous decision.
“He is an unbelievable striker and he is streets ahead of some of the other attackers there, let me tell you.
“When he plays, he scores, It’s as simple as that. But for whatever reason, he hasn’t played this season.
“I know Ten Hag hasn’t even come through the door yet but this looks like mistake number one to me.”

That’s according to The Mirror who imply Ten Hag plans to rebuild his squad around the young quartet.
De Jong fancies City over Utd
EXCLUSIVE: Frenkie de Jong is willing to kiss goodbye to nearly £6million in unpaid wages to clinch a move to Manchester City, writes PHIL THOMAS.
As SunSport revealed, Erik ten Hag wants the Barcelona star at rivals United but City chief Pep Guardiola is also a big fan – missing out three years ago when Barca’s £400,000-a-week after tax was too good for the Dutch star to turn down.

And while the Etihad money men are not keen on paying out the £65million it cost to take him to the Nou Camp from Ajax in 2019, De Jong’s stance on money he is owed may prove decisive.
Barca are still fighting their way out of a financial crisis, which saw players defer 40 per cent of wages for a year.
And midfielder De Jong is still owed a bumper figure, which he could waive to make a move happen. Guardiola is in the market for a midfielder to replace the departing Fernandinho.
But Barca may request Bernardo Silva or Raheem Sterling as part of any deal. Boss Xavi revealed this week that De Jong remains a key part of his plans.
But he conceded that the club could still sell the 25-year-old this summer. He said: “For me, he is a very important player.
Shaw waiting on bumper new £180k-a-week deal
EXCLUSIVE: Luke Shaw will be kept waiting on a fresh £180,000-a-week Old Trafford contract until his new manager has given the thumbs up, writes JOSHUA MBU.
Shaw, 26, has just one more season left on his current deal and so far Manchester United bosses have been in no rush to come up with an extension.

Instead United insiders insist the club will trigger their 12-month option to keep the left back until 2024.
And that will give ten Hag the time to make an informed decision on whether the defender can be a part of his longer term plans.
Shaw has had a stop-start Old Trafford career ever since his £32million signing from Southampton in 2014.
Sparkling spells have been offset by serious injuries and a battle to win over former boss Jose Mourinho.
And although he was back to his best last season, Ten Hag wants to assess him properly before committing to a long-term decision.
United hold a similar view on Brazil midfielder Fred, 29, although they would be more willing to listen to offers this summer at the right price.
    Lew ‘agrees 3-year Barca deal’
Robert Lewandowski has reportedly agreed a three-year contract with Barcelona.
The Pole has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp after snubbing a new deal at Bayern Munich.
He still has a year to run on his existing agreement with the Bundesliga side but they have now confirmed that the forward wants to leave them.
The Times state that Lewandowski is set to join Barcelona.
And they report that he has verbally agreed to sign a three-year contract with them.
Now all that remains is for them to thrash out a transfer fee for him.
Confirming that Lewandowski, who has scored 49 goals for the club this term, wants to go, Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sky Germany: “I spoke with Lewa.
“In that discussion he informed me that he does not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and that he would like to leave the club.
“He said he wants to do something else. But our position has not changed.
“The fact is he has a contract to June 30, 2023.”

One factor which has no doubt increased the interest for the two-time England international is the impending expiry of his current deal with Burnley.

Scoring goals for fun, Haaland made his transfer to the Bundesliga giants in the winter transfer window of 2020.
And in an interview with VG in October of that year, the Norwegian sensation could only think of seven centre-forwards in world football better than him at the time – and it was some list.
The seven was made up of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski from rivals Bayern Munich.
Three of the remaining five strikers also ply their trade in the Premier League with Tottenham hero Harry Kane, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Chelsea man Timo Werner – who has struggled to replicate his form from Germany at Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona boss Xavi has insisted he is open to signing veterans amid the Catalan giants being linked with a move for Robert Lewandowski.
Xavi is hoping to restore Barca to their former glory but the club’s economic situation could slow down his plans.
Barca have been linked with a move for 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski.
The Poland international and Ballon d’Or 2021 runner-up would significantly bolster Xavi’s attacking ranks.
And Xavi has insisted he is open to signing veterans despite trying to build a youthful, competitive squad.
Xavi brought Dani Alves, 38, back to the club on a free transfer.
The Barca and Spain legend said: “I signed Dani Alves at 38.
“It’s not age, it’s performance. Players take care of themselves so much and every year they are more professional.

And he revealed just how confident he was that they would come out on top – after Liverpool beat them the same way in February’s Carabao Cup final.
He told the Wembley press conference: “No regrets. I’m proud of the team.
“We were sure we could make life for Liverpool difficult  – and we did again.
“We struggled in the first 15 minutes then we were excellent and played a goalless draw against maybe the most dangerous attacking team in the world.
“I was sure before the match and I was sure during the game we would win.
“I was sure momentum was on our side and I was sure until the very last minute and unfortunately I was not right.”
Gerro rules out exit for Hammers’ target Watkins
Steven Gerrard killed speculation his Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins could join West Ham with two words: “Going nowhere,” writes GREEME BRYCE.
Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with a big-money summer bid for the 26-year-old England striker, to ease the burden on sole striker Michail Antonio.
But Villa boss Gerrard dismissed it as a total non-starter and said: “We love Ollie and really enjoy working with him.
“To take this club where we need to take it we need goalscorers, we need top players and Ollie Watkins is a top player.
“I will fight as hard as I need to fight if it ever comes up. But it’s not going to because I know the owners and I know Christian Purslow (CEO) and Johan Lange (Director of Football) are on the same page.
“We want to build this around the likes of Ollie Watkins. We are delighted with him.
“He’s our leading scorer this year so for me it doesn’t make sense at all to even listen to speculation about Ollie Watkins. It’s a straight no”

Dwight set to boss A-League club
United icon Dwight Yorke could begin his managerial career with A-League side Macarthur FC.
The former Manchester United striker, 50, enjoyed a one-year spell in Australia when he signed for Sydney FC in 2005.
He is now set to return, but this time his role will be off the pitch.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Yorke is in advanced talks with Macarthur, and a two-year deal is on the cards.
The Man Utd icon gained his coaching badges with the Red Devils who have helped kickstart his new career by recommending him to the Bulls.
Yorke will have a preview into life as a manager when he takes charge of the A-League Allstars for their upcoming game against Barcelona.
When speaking to ESPN ahead of the event, he said: “I’m announcing to the world – with the [APL] and Danny [Townsend, the APL’s managing director] giving me that opportunity – that I’m finally qualified and ready for a leading role.
“I think that will make some headlines. And then if there is an opportunity that does present itself then I have to look at it.”
Rangnick idea to ‘elect a Utd skipper’ blasted
United legend Andy Cole has blasted Ralf Rangnick’s idea that the captain should be “elected” by the players amid Harry Maguire’s poor form this season.
The Red Devils have endured a turbulent campaign.

From the sacking of legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, extending their trophy drought to over five years and missing out on a top-four finish. And things could yet get worse as United could find themselves playing Europa Conference League football next term.
David Moyes’ West Ham could do the unlikely and beat Premier League table toppers Manchester City on Sunday to draw level on points with United and edge them out to sixth-place on goal difference.
But one of the main talking points this season has been club captain Maguire’s leadership and form. The England international has become a lightning rod for criticism and has faced calls for him to be stripped of the captaincy and dropped from the starting eleven.
And interim manager Rangnick expressed last month that he “strongly” believes the captain should be elected by the team and not installed by the manager.
Leaked photos of ‘Ronaldo in United 2022-23 kit’
Leaked photos allegedly show Cristiano Ronaldo posing in Manchester United’s new kit for next season – boosting hopes he’s staying.
United cannot wait for the current campaign to end as they struggle to finish in the top six and reports of two players being pulled apart for fighting this week in training.

The club are about to enter a new era with Erik ten Hag due to take charge after agreeing a deal to join them from Ajax.
And now the shirts that the Dutchman’s stars will be wearing under him have been revealed by the United Stand.
Snaps have gone viral showing the new red Adidas jersey, which appears to have taken inspiration from their 1998/99 treble winning season.
Sporting a white collar, it includes the famous Adidas three stripes down the arms with the manufacturing company’s logo on the right breast, and United’s badge on the opposite side.
