    West Ham 0-1 Man City
37, Rice is late on Foden and City have a free-kick from a shooting position.
It would take something very special to beat Areola from here, mind.
GOAL! – West Ham 0-1 Man City
35, Haaland is the coolest man in the building, rolling the ball into the bottom right corner. Areola went the wrong way.
    Manchester City take the lead!
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
    34, Penalty to City!
Areola is the guilty party, diving in on Haaland.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
32, De Bruyne looks to find Haaland in behind and we see a glimpse of Walker’s pace, sprinting beyond the forward in an attempt to reach the ball.
It had too much on it and Areola can claim it.
The fans inside here attempt to raise their side’s game.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
31, Antonio looks okay to continue and play can resume.
You wonder if these stoppages might just disrupt City’s rhythm.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
30, Antonio is the next to go down requiring treatment. He seemed to land funny on an already strapped up knee.
West Ham substitution – West Ham 0-0 Man City
28, That knock was clearly too much for Fabianski to continue and he makes way for Areola.

    West Ham 0-0 Man City
    26, Goal dissalowed!
Haaland flicks the ball on to Gundogan who squares it to De Bruyne.
The Belgian has the simple task of tapping home, but the flag is quickly raised against Gundogan, who was clearly offside in the build-up.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
24, Fabianski and Haaland exchange words and the game can resume.
It’s been all City inside the opening 25 minutes, but they’ve nothing to show for it so far.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
22, Fabianski requires some treatment after bravely punching the ball clear. In the process, the Polish international takes a Haaland boot to the stomach.
The City players take the opportunity for some water. It’s 31 degrees here an the players will be feeling it.

    West Ham 0-0 Man City
    20, Haaland comes close!
Foden curls in a lovely ball, but it’s inches in front of the on-running Haaland who would have had a sitter with his head.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
    19, A word on City’s kit.
West Ham may feel like they’re playing against 11 parking attendants at the moment.
The high-vis is certainly not hard to miss.

    West Ham 0-0 Man City
    19, City are probing.
Foden spots Grealish in space who scoops one into Haaland. It rolls out to De Bruyne who attempts something similar but West ham stand firm.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
17, Guardiola looks deep in thought as City win their first corner of the match.
It doesn’t beat the first man.

    West Ham 0-0 Man City
15, West Ham try the long ball over the top, but Lanzini had strayed offside.
A chance for City to launch another attack now.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
13, Rice’s interception on Rodri draws a roar from the crowd. But their attack is cut short and City get up the other end with Cancelo.
The full-back drifts inside and finds De Bruyne who hesitates before dragging his shot wide of the far post.
    Big let-off for the hosts.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
12, After an early Manchester City scare, the visitors are having it all their own way now, making West Ham do the work.
Grealish is left in a heap on the floor after a mis-timed tackle by Coufal. He’s lucky to escape without a booking there.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
8, City are looking to apply the pressure.
Rodri feeds one into Haaland and Zouma is forced to shank one clear.

    West Ham 0-0 Man City
7, Grealish tries to tease one in towards Haaland, but Johnson is there to head clear.
The Englishman is finding room down the left though.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
5, City’s first attack ends up in the arms of Fabianski.
Cancelo and Grealish combine down the left, but the winger’s ball in is too close to the keeper.
It looks as though Foden will occupy the right-hand side, with Haaland through the middle.
    West Ham 0-0 Man City
2, An early scare for the visitors!
Cresswell swings in a speculative ball to Antonio and it’s out for a corner.
West Ham keep the pressure on and Antonio gets another chance, leaping highest, flicking his header just over the bar.

The fans are in very good voice for this spectacle.

Tottenham 4-1 Southampton LIVE RESULT: Sessegnon, Dier, Kulusesvki and Salisu own goal see Spurs ease to victory

TOTTENHAM have hammered Southampton in their first Premier League match of the season.James Ward-Prowse silenced the crowd in North London early on to put the Saints ahead.
But a Ryan Sessegnon header saw Antonio Conte’s men draw level before Eric Dier turned the game on its head.
Things got better for Spurs in the second half as a dreadful own goal from Mohammed Salidu made it 3-1 before Dejan Kulusevski added a fourth.
    Worrying for Saints
In truth, a second half collapse made things very easy for Spurs in the end.
They showed a lack of belief after going behind, and hardly troubled at all other than Ward-Prowse’s sensational opener.
    Spurs dominant
Despite the early scare, that was a very impressive Spurs performance.
Kane and Son may not have been on target, but the whole squad performed to eventually ease past Southampton.
    Full-time!
Spurs head to the top of the table after a resounding 4-1 win!
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
90′: Kane tries his luck – from his own half – which perhaps unsurprisingly doesn’t cause Bazunu any trouble.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
88′: Dominant defending from Romero to stop Armstrong in his tracks on the attack.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
86′: Lovely strike by Perraud but he can’t keep it down, as he sees it fly over the bar.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
84′: Kane shows great awareness to slip in Son, but his shot is comfortably saved by Bazunu.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
81′: No goals for Son or Kane despite the four for Spurs today.
I’m sure they’ll be trying to change that in the final 10 minutes…
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
79′: Spurs are heading to the top of the table and they look good value for it today.
Kane looks to find Kulusevski in behind but the Swede is offside.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
76′: Great save by Lloris, who gets down low to deny Aribo.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
75′: Kane has been a bit out of things in attacks today, and his progress is shut down as Aribo clears.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
70′: Handball claims are eventually turned down. and the corner comes to nothing.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
69′: Big shouts for a penalty for Spurs!
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
66′: Perisic is introduced for his first Premier League appearance, replacing Sessegnon.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
62′: The defending from Saints is woeful, as Kulusevski is awarded time to stroke the ball past Bazulu and make this one all but over.
    Tottenham 4-1 Southampton
Kulusevski gets in on the act!
    Tottenham 3-1 Southampton
61′: Royal gets in behind and flashes a cross across the face of goal, and Salisu can’t do anything but turn it into his own net and double Spurs’ lead.
    Tottenham 3-1 Southampton
Salisu turns it into his own net!
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
60′: A bit nervy for Spurs following a Walker-Peters cross, which is eventually cleared.
Good spell this for the Saints.
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
57′: Southampton win a corner off Royal, which is headed away by Kane.
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
54′: Commanding goalkeeping from Bazunu again, as he claims the ball at the expense of his teammate Walker-Peters, who is currently receiving treatment.
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
51′: A fantastic challenge from Walker-Peters stops Sessegnon getting a certain second of the afternoon.
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
49′: Davies’ threatening cross is met by Royal, but his header is way over.
    Tottenham 2-1 Southampton
46′: Spurs thought they had scored in the first 20 seconds of the half, but the offside flag bails Saints out.

Curse of the Goodison treatment room
Everton have a number of players out currently and it is questionable as to whether the physio department could put out a stronger side than Frank Lampard currently.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder will feel his squad needs some strengthening in numerous areas.
Up front being the main concern with many wondering where the goals will come from this season.
    Sun’s out, guns out…..
With the sun beating down today, even Everton fans must see a bright future for the season ahead.

Qatar question rears its head early on
The Chelsea head coach was asked about the early start to the season and the effect the World Cup will have on this season:
You feel it. The players are very focused on the World Cup already which is a good thing because they come in shape and take care of themselves, but it’s also a bad thing because they are also focused on World Cup and not just here. We will see how it influences the players and their performances in October.Thomas TuchelChelsea
    Everton with no striking threat
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured for some time and Salomon Rondon suspended for today’s fixture, Everton are extremely light up front.
Lampard may have to play Demarai Gray through the middle with support from Dwight McNeil and Anthony Gordon.
The sale of Richarlison to Tottenham seems to be already hitting Everton hard with no replacement brought in during the window.
Tuchel unsure of who is number one
Kepa Arrizabalaga was rumoured to be leaving Stamford Bridge but talk is now that he will remain at the club.
Tuchel is also expected to start him against The Toffees today.
This leaves Edouard Mendy out of favour and wondering what the season holds for him.
    Welcome to Everton vs Chelsea
Chelsea travel to Goodison Park today to kick-off their 2022/23 Premier League campaign against a side managed by ex-Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard whose first year in management with The Toffees almost ending in relegation last season.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss the next six weeks after picking up a ‘freak’ knee injury in training on Tuesday, the striker only made 15 Premier League starts last season due to injury and the new season has begun in the same vein.
Seamus Coleman is out while Salomon Rondon is suspended following his red card against Brentford last season.
Having sold Richarlison to Tottenham during the summer, they have no one to lead the attack against Chelsea today.
Tom Davies, Andre Gomes and Andros Townsend are still unavailable but Allan could be back in the centre of midfield despite his recent fitness issues.
Yerry Mina is fit and could start in a back three with new signing James Tarkowski alongside him.
For Chelsea. There is likely to be a debut at the back for Koulibaly, while Sterling could play in the front three with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.
Timo Werner is a fitness doubt with a hamstring issue, with speculation about his future also rife, he is not expected to be considered for a start today.

    That’s all from Fulham
Fulham picked up their first point on their return to the Premier League after an exciting 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers opened the scoring after 32 minutes when Kenny Tete’s brilliant cross from the right found Aleksandar Mitrovic in the far post where he beat Trent Alexander-Arnold in the air and headed the ball to the back of Alisson’s net.
The Reds lacked their lethal edge from last season but saw Luiz Diaz hit the post from a tight angle on the left on 39 minutes.
Neeskens Kebano almost doubled the West Londoners’ lead in the 57th minute when his effort from the right hit Alisson’s right-hand post.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp brought Darwin Nunez on in the second half and he scored his first ever Premier League goal on his debut in the 64th minute thanks to a stunning back-heel after an assist by Mohamed Salah.
But Fulham regained the lead thanks to a penalty from Mitrovic after 72 minutes as he was brought down by Virgil van Dijk inside the box.
However, Salah resued a point for the visitors in the 80th minute when he was set up in front of Marek Rodak by Nunez.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson almost scored the winner during stoppage time when his long-range curling effort rattled Rodak’s crossbar.

    Jurgen Klopp reacts
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claimed his side had a “really bad game”
Klopp told BT Sport: “We got a point from a really bad game from my side so now it’s a question of ‘How can that happen?’
“The attitude was not right in the beginning and then we wanted to fight back but it wasn’t easy any more.
“The pitch was dry, stuff like this, we played really in their cards most of the time.
“The result is fine, I don’t think we deserved more than that but the performance was massively improvable”

    Marco Silva reacts
Fulham manager Marco Silva praised his players, especially Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Silva told BT Sport: “We have to respect the top, top quality they have but we have to do our job and trust in ourselves.
“We showed fantastic organisation from the start until the end of the match. Our first half was almost perfect, the way we controlled and worked.
“I know the quality Mitro [Aleksandar Mitrovic] has. I’m here to take the best from my players and we are going on from last season. Mitro is not just goals and if somebody thinks that they can forget it.
“The job he did this afternoon for the team, his pressure, his helping the midfield and helping the backline, it would have been enough even if he hadn’t scored.
“I have to congratulate everyone from Marek [Rodak] to Mitro, but the work he did without the ball this afternoon was fantastic”
    Credit: GETTY
    Tim Ream reacts
Fulham captain Tim Ream revealed his team did “exactly” what they wanted to do to Liverpool.
Ream told BT Sport: “We did exactly what we wanted to do.
“We want to make it tough for teams to come here. We knew that if we could be aggressive and take the game to them they would find it difficult.
“Whether they were prepared for that or not, that’s on them but we knew what our game plan was and we did it pretty much perfectly.
“It’s a huge boost of confidence for us but it sets the bar for where we need to be for every match”

Bournemouth 2 Aston Villa 0: Lerma and Moore down Gerrard’s side as relegation favourites make dream top-flight return

STEVEN GERRARD was given a rude awakening by former England teammate Scott Parker as Bournemouth marked their Premier League rebirth in style.Gerrard had challenged big-spending Villa to show they could ‘walk the walk’ after limping to a 14th place finish last season.

But it was Parker’s newly-promoted Bournemouth who strutted their stuff in the south coast sunshine to claim an unexpected opening day win courtesy of goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore.
Former Fulham chief Parker had not been shy to bemoan the Dorset side’s lack of summer signings in the lead up to their top-flight return.
But perhaps his moaning was a clever piece of reverse psychology to get a reaction out of his players.
The Cherries boss had to wait just two minutes for £10m new boy Marcus Tavernier to make an instant impact.

Tavernier’s floated right-wing corner caused mayhem in the Villa defence, allowing Colombian Lerma to sweep home from close range after Lloyd Kelly had nodded the ball down.
Bournemouth could have had a second just seven minutes later when Dominic Solanke’s left-foot shot was well saved by Emi Martinez after a mazy run from left wing-back Jordan Zemura.
Villa handed debuts to defender Diego Carlos and midfielder Boubacar Kamara but struggled to ever properly get going.
Danny Ings – preferred up front to England international Ollie Watkins – saw a tame effort comfortably kept out by Mark Travers before heading over from a Lucas Digne cross.

Newly-appointed captain John McGinn also blasted a left-foot volley high over the crossbar.
Bournemouth looked the more cohesive unit, exemplified by a slick move that saw Adam Smith flash a teasing ball across the six-yard box which the lunging Moore narrowly failed to get on the end of.
Ings’ 23rd minute booked for lunging in on the lively Tavernier summed up Villa’s first half frustration.
Gerrard hauled off the ineffective Jacob Ramsey at half-time, bringing on Emi Buendia.
But it was still Bournemouth who looked more likely to add to the scoring with Tavernier’s set-piece deliveries causing the Villa back-line a real headache.
Brazilian defender Carlos was clearly so fed up with watching the visitors’ misfiring forwards toil that he tried to take matters into his own hands on the hour-mark.
Carlos came rampaging over the halfway line before blazing a 35-yard shot well wide of Travers’ left-hand post.

The centre-back’s fellow summer recruit Kamara then curled a 25-yard effort into the stands as Villa were reduced to trying their luck from distance.
Ings made way for Watkins with 25 minutes remaining but he too was starved of service.
It was a similar story for Bournemouth’s top-scorer from last season Solanke, who struggled to get into the game after half-time.
Bournemouth’s first ever Premier League game seven years ago on Monday ended with a 1-0 defeat at home to Villa.
The Midlanders also stayed up at the Cherries’ expense in 2020 so the home fans felt they were due some revenge.
Philippe Coutinho threatened to cut short their celebrations with 17 minutes remaining after working his way into a shooting position but the Brazilian could only drag his 25-yard effort wide.
Villa’s hopes of salvation were ended ten minutes from time as Moore – who scored the goal against Nottingham Forest to seal promotion last season – doubled Bournemouth’s lead.

Villa again failed to properly deal with a Tavernier set-piece and after skipper Kelly recycled a cross back into the penalty area, Moore climbed above a static defence to nod past a helpless Martinez.
As Parker celebrated jubilantly, Gerrard turned away in disgust at his side’s pitiful display.

Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 Rangers LIVE RESULT: Controversial VAR penalty leaves Gers on Champions League brink

RANGERS are in serious trouble as they look to secure Champions League football for the first time since 2010.A low drive into the bottom corner from Teddy Teuma gave Union Saint-Gilloise a deserved lead in Leuven.
And in the second half, Rangers were left fuming when VAR gave a controversial penalty after Connor Goldson was adjudged to have hanballed.
Dante Vanzeir then converted the spot kick to double the hosts’ advantage to give Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men an uphill battle at Ibrox.
    Subtle Sutton
Ex-Celtic player Chris Sutton couldn’t resist a dig at his rivals after their loss this evening.

    Van Bronckhorst surprised at performance
In his post-match interview, the Rangers boss discussed his side’s defeat:
The performance today was really poor. We were never really in the game, key mistakes, giving transitional moments away. Luckily it was only 2-0. I was surprised he gave a penalty, but it was given. We need to change it around on Tuesday and we need to change it around big time. We looked like we weren’t comfortable on the ball and that surprised me. We lost together today. We are still in the tie. Giovanni van Bronckhorst
    The last Mc-Laugh
Rangers keeper Jon McLaughlin has been blamed for USG’s first goal after Teumo’s shot was straight at him. The 34-year-old appeared to fumble the ball as it bounced off him and into the net.
However, McLaughlin did make a couple of key saves towards the end of the game that just about keep his side in the tie.

    VAR from a penalty
USG’s second goal came from the penalty spot, but the awarding of it has caused plenty of controversy.
On the replays the ball looks to deflect off a Rangers defender and on to Goldson’s arm from just a yard away.
    VAR under fire again.
    Bronckhorst beaten
Rangers boss Bronckhorst looked disappointed for large periods of the game this evening.
His first substitution came in the 67th minute. Fans may point the finger, suggesting he should have made changes sooner.
The Dutchman has serious work to do if he’s to turn this tie around next week.

    Well deserved win
USG didn’t look like a team who had never played Champions League football before. The Belgian side were positive in their play, creating a number of chances which the visitors were unable to keep out.
On the other hand, Rangers were very flat and never really got going. They lacked bite in attack, whilst looking shaky at the back.

    USG 2-0 Rangers
82, Wright drives in field and plays a neat one two with Colack before being shoved off the ball. The substitute waves his arms, appealing for a penalty, but the referee looks disinterested.
    USG 2-0 Rangers
81, Tavernier’s corner is plucked out of the air by Moris and the home fans celebrate as though they’ve scored. They are loving every second of this.
    USG 2-0 Rangers

New signings Matondo and Tillman make way. Not the start they would have wanted.

    73, Penalty to Rangers!
The referee took his time before pointing to the spot.

    USG 1-0 Rangers
    68, Rangers come close!
That’s their best move of the match.
Tavernier combines with Colak. The Croat flashes a deadly ball across goal, but no one in white and was close enough to it.
Rangers substitutions – USG 1-0 Rangers
66, Here they are then, the Rangers changes, and it’s a double.
Debutants Davies and Yilmaz are on. Barisic and Jack make way.
    USG 1-0 Rangers
65, Rangers are being given no time on the ball. Vanzeir is on to Goldson in a flash, and the Rangers man is lucky to win a free kick.
Substitutions must be imminent for the visitors. They still look flat.
    USG 1-0 Rangers
63, Tavernier looks to skip past Lapoussin, but the Madagascan stands his ground.
Rangers were in a good position from the free kick. Barisic would have been better floating a ball into the area.
    USG 1-0 Rangers
    59, USG come close.
Nieuwkoop lines one up and shaves the post with a left-footed effort.
    Rangers are living dangerously.
