Tottenham 4-1 Southampton LIVE RESULT: Sessegnon, Dier, Kulusesvki and Salisu own goal see Spurs ease to victory


TOTTENHAM have hammered Southampton in their first Premier League match of the season.

James Ward-Prowse silenced the crowd in North London early on to put the Saints ahead.

But a Ryan Sessegnon header saw Antonio Conte’s men draw level before Eric Dier turned the game on its head.

Things got better for Spurs in the second half as a dreadful own goal from Mohammed Salidu made it 3-1 before Dejan Kulusevski added a fourth.

  • Worrying for Saints

    In truth, a second half collapse made things very easy for Spurs in the end.

    They showed a lack of belief after going behind, and hardly troubled at all other than Ward-Prowse’s sensational opener.

    Despite the early scare, that was a very impressive Spurs performance.

    Kane and Son may not have been on target, but the whole squad performed to eventually ease past Southampton.
