His death sparked a huge outpouring of support for his devastated family including from Sir Elton John at a gig in Aberdeen as well as the Tartan Army ahead of Scotland’s clash with Georgia.
But after taking a few weeks off presenting on Sky Sports, Hayley has now returned to a ‘little normality’ with her focus now on taking care of her mum Yvonne.
She has thanked friends, family, fans and colleagues for their support and said presenting live TV again is ‘just what the doctor ordered’.
In a post on social media, Hayley said: “Back to business. Feels very strange being back at work after a very sad few weeks but being around all my colleagues and friends is definitely helping get back to a little normality.

“I don’t suppose life ever feels that normal again and priority is now taking care of our mum but sport, my tv family and friends is just what the doctor ordered.”
Fans took to the comments to show their support with one saying: “You’ve done your dad proud.”
Another wrote: “Your Dad will always be with you. 🙏🏼 xx.”
A third said: “Sending you so much love Hayley ❤️❤️.”

Whilst a fourth commented: “You are an incredible human. Sending loads of love ❤️.”
McQueen’s funeral took place last month at St Mary’s Cathedral in Coulby Newham on the outskirts of Middlesbrough.
His family gathered along with a host of football greats to say their final goodbyes.
Mourners included Gordon Strachan, Joe Jordan, Bryan Robson, Gary Pallister and Jeff Stelling.
Manchester United left a bouquet of flowers with the message: “In memory of Gordon. With forever-lasting love and respect for a great player and a great man.”
Hayley, 43, had previously revealed the touching tributes paid to her father have helped comfort her and the rest of the McQueen family.
She wrote: “I don’t think anything can prepare you for the pain of losing a parent no matter how prepared you think you might be, I can’t thank everyone enough for the kind words whether it be on here, Twitter or text since his passing.
“Apologies I haven’t replied to everyone but it’s truly hugely appreciated and has been such a comfort.”
McQueen started his career with St Mirren before spells at Leeds and Manchester United.
He was capped 30 times for Scotland and was chosen for the 1978 World Cup but missed out because of injury.
McQueen later became a pundit before being treated for cancer of the larynx in 2011.

I was one of the biggest names on Sky Sport’s F1 coverage before sacking… I still have no idea why they got rid of me

He became a central figure in the coverage of the sport, often reminiscing about his own time in Formula One with teams like Jaguar and Sauber.
However, Sky Sports decided to axe him from the commentary team two months before this year’s coverage started, along with fellow pundit and former driver Paul di Resta.
Both were at the end of their respective contracts but were not offered extensions.
It was speculated that cost-cutting was behind Sky Sports’ decision not to have the two back.

Herbert posted a photo of the Sky Sports F1 team to Instagram to confirm his departure from the broadcaster.
It was captioned: “Going to miss this team.”
Speaking to The Mirror, Herbert has now revealed that he still doesn’t know why the broadcaster decided against renewing his contract.
He said: “I didn’t decide to step away – I thought everything was going ahead!

“And then I got a call in December, I think it was, when I was told things were changing.
“It wasn’t really explained why or what was changing. There was a mention of social media stuff and that was about it, really. I really don’t know.
“I was always aware – at Sky they do these subscriber checks where you’re given points out of 10 – and I’ve always known I was always quite popular on that side.
“It’s a shame, but I’m over it. Moving on.”
Herbert is now presenting his own podcast called Lift the Lid, which he co-hosts with fellow racer Billy Monger.
The two give their opinions on current F1 stories, and were brought together through their own near-fatal crashes.
Herbert said about the podcast “This is great to do with Billy, for example.
“There are other opportunities out there, once again just proving that if you work hard you can find different avenues to carry on being involved in the sport we love.
“So there’s other things going on, which is fine.
“Yes, it’s disappointing, but I’ve moved on.”
The 59-year old added that he didn’t think he would be returning to TV screens this season.
He added: “I did my 11 years at Sky and it was good. Now there are other things I am doing.

From breaking Chelsea legend’s heart to being told to ‘f*** off’ by Fergie, how Geoff Shreeves became Sky Sports icon

ICONIC Sky Sports broadcaster Geoff Shreeves has confirmed he will leave Sky Sports after 30 years at the channel. The big-name reporter is to quit with immediate effect after SunSport exclusively revealed he was to become the latest victim of Sky’s cost-cutting efforts.
Shreeves has quit Sky Sports after 30 years in his roleCredit: Getty
Shreeves was offered a contract renewal on reduced terms but has ultimately decided to depart the channel where he made his name as an interviewer and touchline reporter.
His 30 years with the broadcaster has seen him become a household-name among football fans – thanks to some iconic moments along the way.
From being told to “f**** off” by Fergie to clashing with Kenny Dalglish, here are his most notable moments in his role…
    Breaking Ivanovic’s heart
Perhaps Shreeves’ most iconic moment came after Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona in 2012.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Branislav Ivanovic had starred as part of Chelsea’s backs to the wall defensive performance – with the Blues down to 10 men for the majority of the game.
But Shreeves’ broke the Serb’s heart when he told him that a yellow card he received in the victory would see him ruled out of the final.
Shreeves told Ivanovic: “You know that means you’re out of the final now, unfortunately that means you don’t play in the final.”

It was clearly the first time Ivanovic had been told, and the crestfallen defender was barely able to utter the words “unfortunately” in response.
    Most read in Football
Chelsea would go on to win the 2012 Champions League, with the suspended John Terry and Ivanovic infamously joining the team in full kit.
    Rowing with Kenny Dalglish
As shown by his takedown of Ivanovic, Shreeves has never been afraid of a tough line of questioning.
And one of his most tense exchanges came when he rowed with Kenny Dalglish over Luis Suarez – which nearly saw the Scotsman storm out of the interview.
The interview came after Patrice Evra had refused to shake Luis Suarez’s hand before the game after Suarez had racially abused the Frenchman.
Shreeves pressed Dalglish on the fact that police and stewards were needed to separate the two teams in the dressing room post-game.
Dalglish sought to deflect from Shreeves’ line of questioning and said: “You know something, when we had our FA Cup tie because there was no 24 hour news channel in the build up to the game nothing like this happened.”

Shreeves was clearly shocked by the suggestion Sky Sports had incited the incident and said: “So are you blaming the news channel? What are you saying?”
An angry Dalglish snapped back: “If you want to know what happened in there ask somebody else that was there because I wasn’t.”
Being told to f**** off by Fergie
Shreeves has said that him and Fergie generally enjoyed a “fantastic” relationship and it was common for Sir Alex to close out his interview with “Well done Geoff”.
But there was one point where the two’s relationship boiled over.
In an interview with the Times, Shreeves said his biggest run-in with any manager came when he asked Sir Alex whether Ronaldo had dived for a penalty against Middlesborough.
He said: “The biggest (run-in) was over Cristiano Ronaldo going over for a penalty against Middlesbrough and we had a huge falling out which threatened to get very out of hand in the tunnel.
“Fergie came after me physically, never got there. People jumped in.”
Shreeves stood his ground while repeatedly being told to “f**** off” by Fergie.

He said to Fergie: “Don’t talk to me like that. If you want to behave civilly, fine.
“We sorted it out very amicably, very quickly and it was never mentioned again.”
    Being surrounded by Pep
Ahead of Covid shutting down the Premier League in 2020, Liverpool hosted Manchester City in a clash that would decide the fate of the title.
Pep Guardiola was livid after Liverpool scored a goal despite Trent Alexander-Arnold clearly appearing to handle the ball in the build up.

Shreeves told Sky Sports that Guardiola and his staff surrounded him and his Sky Sports crew and demanded to view why a penalty wasn’t given.
He said: “Pep Guardiola is livid,
“His entire backroom staff surrounded us at half-time to ask ‘Why wasn’t it given?’. To say they are unimpressed is an understatement.”
Liverpool would go on to win the game 3-1 and run away with the title by 18 points.
    Virtual Shreeves
Shreeves became a name known to a global audience through his cameo appearances on the EA Sports FIFA game series.
Beginning with FIFA 13, Shreeves was on hand as a touchline reporter in the same way he does in real life.

Fans of the game series became familiar with Geoff saying the line “He’s a tough cookie, he’ll carry on” seemingly no matter the severity of any injury.

    Whittaker wins TKO R8
The referee leaps in to stop the first serious engagement in about 4 hours.
Belujsky’s corner are fuming with it. But there was only 60 seconds left.
It’s over now. We can never ever talk of this again.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R8
Thankfully – by the good grace of God, Alah, Buddha – this is the final round.
Even the Sky comms team have made a mockery of the ‘glorified sparring’ session.
Hopefully when the MC reads out the offical scorecard, at the end, he just says “who actually cares?”.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R7
Whittaker drops his hands, pokes his head forward and allows Belujsky to tap him on it three times.
I don’t know what this is any more.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R6
Day 1,874 in the Manchester ring and Ben Whittaker is still whacking Vladimir Belujsky with ever potshot in the book.
People are too bored to boo, too disenfranchised to protest.
We are just watching the clock and praying for a leap in time.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R5
Whittaker’s fancy shots are accurate and powerful but they are bouncing off the tattooed bruiser.
Sky commentator Matt Macklin confirms Belujsky would barely be a suitable sparring partner and this fight is nowhere near competitive enough.
I wonder what might be going off in the fridge and suitable omelette ingredient for tomorrow’s breakfast.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R4
Belujsky lands a weak right hand that Whittaker shakes off unhurt.
The underdog tucks up and absorbs a flurry of blows on his arms and ribs, like a little lump of dough getting kneaded.
Belujsky survives another stanza, a few fans in Manchester head to the bar.
Nitto exciting expected here. Whittaker coasting.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky R3
Standard battering from Whittaker up in Manchester.
The 13-6-1 journeyman is eating up the punishment and not yet quitting.
Credit to Whittaker for not celebrating and showboating too much.
Little more than a sparring session here.
    McCormack wins TKO R5
Tony Dixon’s excellent corner pulls their man out after he starts taking too much punishment.
There was no way the Welshman was going to find a wonder punch to win.
McCormack scored a brutal knockdown at the end of the fourth and Dixon was correctly stopped from starting the fifth.
    Well done all round.
    Whittaker vs Belujsky – R2
Light-heavyweight ace Ben Whittaker is now showing off his skills against limited journeyman Vladimir Belujsky.
The former Team GB starlet dances and prances while slashing in hooks and uppercuts and bollo punches.
Belujsky is cannon fodder tonight. A pin cushion. A human tent peg.
    McCormack vs Dixon – R3
A violent one-two spanks Dixon’s face and then an uppercut turns his legs to jelly.
McCormack has such a pro style, he already looks a punishing counter puncher with a range of ways to win.
A little right hook stumbles Dixon again and he bravely hangs on to last another round.
    McCormack vs Dixon – R2
McCormack trainer Ben Davison tells his man: “He was gone but you turned your back and let him off, I don’t want to see that again.”
Dixon is no journeyman, he is trying to win the fight but he seems a level or two below.
McCormack’s punches are so rapid, if Dixon dares to engages he always gets punished.
Every shot the Geordie thows has bad intentions, nothing is wasted or tentative.
    McCormack vs Dixon – R1
Pat McCormack enjoys his first 10-rounder now against Tony Dixon at super-welter.
The Geordie wonderkid is tipped for professional greatness and Dixon is a sensible test for fight five.
Both men swap body jabs and then McCormack slashes a right hand into Dixon’s head.
Dixon gets stunned by a vicious right and is in deep trouble, he froze and wobbled.
It’s a miracle he heard the bell and will start the second.
    Jonas wins TKO R8
Referee Marcus McDonnell wisely steps in and stops the slaughter.
Kandi Wyatt had been punched all over Manchester by Liverpool’s talented two-weight world champion.
Jonas doesn’t need learning fights at this stage of her career.
And female fighting does not need painful batterings to push its cause.
    Jonas vs Wyatt – R7
Pointless fight up in Manchester where Natasha Jonas has made a punch bag out of Kandi Wyatt.
The Liverpool ace has won every round and really beaten up the overmatched visitor.
Jonas is able to showboat but the bout is impressing nobody as it’s far too one sided.
Wyatt’s corner are too stupid to pull her out so hopefully referee Marcus McDonnell steps in soon.
    Price wins TKO
Beech Jr’s corner pull him out over the cuts he has suffered.
Beech was still standing and throwing.
But the damage was growing around his eyes and the blood was flowing.
Price celebrates but theres still lots to imrove on and he won’t strike fear in future opponents.
Price vs Beech Jr – R6
Beech keeps trying to make it a close-range and scrappy fight.
Price prefers to use his long legs and levers from range.
Beech Jr has a cut opening around his left eye and dripping down into his vision.
It was an accidental clash of heads but Price had scored plenty of legitimate points before then.
Price vs Beech Jr – R5
Beech misses a wild lead left hook in an effort to stop Price’s flow.
Beautiful long jab from Price, like a praying mantis landing a dig.
Beech throws a couple of hooks at Price’s body during a clinch but he gets his own torso tagged back as punishment.
Price vs Beech Jr – R4
Beech down again as soon as the round starts but it’s ruled a push and Price gets a verbal warning.
Beech’s team are fuming their lad has not thrown more punches and accuse their charge of showing too much respect to his opponent.
Price is disciplined and precise but there is no magic on show so far.
Price vs Beech Jr – R3
Beech has got over any early fears he might have had and ventured forward more.
Beech touches the canvas but it’s a clear slip and is not counted.
    These rounds are tight.
This is Price’s first fight up at 9st feather and he needs to impress.
Price vs Beech Jr – R2
Southpaw Price starts brighly with a little right hook around the Beech guard.
But Beech Jr lands a lopped lead left hook of his own that makes a loud slapping noise on Price’s cheek.
Price bullies Beech back into the ropes but smothers his work.
Price vs Beech Jr – R1
Back to Sheffield now where red-hot Leeds prospect Hopey Price faces respected James Beech Jr.
Price starts the featherweight clash with lots of crisp southpaw jabs.
Beech Jr tries to barrel forward but Price’s footwork glides him smoothly out of danger.
    Jeffers caked
The winner beams: “I am so happy, that was an awful performance from me, so s***. But I am a dog.
“I am so much better than tonight but it was just about winner, I let him have the tenth round.”
    Jeffers wins UD
The three ringside judges called the hard-to-score clash: 97-94, 97-93 and 97-94.
Jeffers only took the fight on two-weeks notice and earns a career-changing win.
    Chelli vs Jeffers – R10
Final round of the close super-middle clash between London’s Chelli and Manchester’s Jeffers.
Chelli bobs and weaves but it’s far too close to showboat defensively.
Chelli’s looped right hand continues to fail but Jeffers looks like he’s taking a round off.
Chelli is pouring on the pressure and it could be crucial if the cards are close.
The bell goes and Jeffers roars with celebration while Chelli looks deflated.

Premier League to announce HUGE change from next season – and fans fear the ‘country won’t be able to cope’

THE PREMIER LEAGUE are set to announce a huge change from next season but fans fear the “country won’t be able to cope”.With just six weeks to go until the start of the new season, changes are already being made for the 2024/25 campaign next year.
The Premier League are planning to show every Sunday match live on televisionCredit: Getty
The Daily Mail report that the Premier League plan to have every Sunday match shown live on television from the start of that season.
The revamp is part of planned alterations to the league’s broadcast rights strategy, with the number of televised matches increasing from 200 to 270.
However, the changes mean that fans will face midday and 7pm kick-off times to accommodate the additional televised games.
Friday and Monday evening matches will also increase as part of the proposals.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
The Premier League are keen to attract higher offers from broadcasters, with their current domestic rights deal worth £5billion.
Clubs playing in the Europa League stand to profit from the changes as they will receive £1million per televised Sunday match.
Supporters are not convinced, though, with one tweeting: “Fans don’t want 7pm. This country can’t accommodate (the) travel.”
Another wrote: “They could achieve this by changing the ‘normal’ game time to 2pm Sunday, rather than messing up away fans’ chances of getting home.”

A third also commented: “3pm blackout must stay cause of fans in stadiums but Sunday 7pm will keep fans there.”
Meanwhile, one more argued: “We don’t want changes to the times, just put them all on the TV. Simple.”
The proposed changes come ahead of the next tender document for broadcasters being released in October.
According to the report, the number of television packages available is set to decrease.
Instead, each package will contain more games, with the 20-match package currently held by Amazon Prime set to disappear.
The Premier League hope that this will increase the value of the deal they can agree for the period from 2024 to 2027.
Sky Sports and TNT Sport, formerly BT Sport, are expected to table major bids amid interest from Amazon, Apple TV and Disney.
