And the result confirmed the Red Devils’ status as a Champions League competitor for next season, leaving bitter rivals Liverpool out of luck.
Following the Old Trafford thrashing, Ten Hag was spotted out on a bike ride in Cheshire on Friday.
With the summer fast approaching, he was seen with his jacket draped over the front of his bike.
He donned a long-sleeve light grey shirt, paired with black trainers and dark grey trousers.

However, despite good progress in his first year, he believes there is still much work to be done.
This begins in the summer, with Ten Hag begging Man Utd bosses to get him “better players”.
Speaking after the win over Frank Lampard’s struggling Chelsea, he told Sky Sports: “It is a good base to build on but standards have to go up and demands have to rise.
“We have to work in the summer with this squad but we also have to strengthen in the window with this squad.

“We want to compete for the title but it has to be realistic. It is what is there.
“Now, we are far away so there is a lot of work to do but we need better players if want to compete for the highest.”
Harry Kane tops the list of transfer targets for United, with Ten Hag said to be “obsessed” with the Tottenham ace.
However, knowing Daniel Levy’s tough negotiating skills, United have drawn up a six-man shortlist of strikers if Kane proves to be unattainable.
Elsewhere, stars such as Declan Rice and Mason Mount have been linked with moves.
Defender Kim Min-jae and Jermaine Frimpong are other stars tipped to be targeted by the Red Devils this summer.
Ten Hag has been spotted out on his bike before.
He was spotted enjoying a cycle with wife Bianca early in the season, before being pictured out and about on Valentine’s Day. More

‘SIX strikers on Man Utd’s transfer shortlist’ if they can’t get Kane after joke they’d have to ‘KILL’ Levy to sign him

MANCHESTER UNITED will turn their gaze towards as a shortlist of SIX strikers if they fail to land Harry Kane.England captain Kane, 29, has been earmarked to leave Tottenham following the club’s struggles this campaign.

Man Utd want to land him, with manager Erik ten Hag said to be “obsessed” with Kane.
However, Spurs will not be an easy club to negotiate with, owing to chairman Daniel Levy.
According to the Manchester Evening News, one source who has worked with Levy joked United would need to “kill him” in order to land Kane.
But after securing Champions League football after a 4-1 win over Chelsea, the Red Devils are reluctant to be drawn into a prolonged saga to land the 30-goal star.

Instead, they will turn towards a shortlist of six frontmen if Kane proves to be unattainable.
MEN’s report states Napoli ace Victor Osimhen is top of this list.
The Nigerian’s 23 league goals fired Napoli to their first Serie A title since 1990.
However, a £130million price tag could prove to be too hefty a fee for the Red Devils’ liking.

Keeping in the Italian top flight, United are said to be keeping tabs on 20-year-old Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who has eight league goals from 18 starts this season.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani is another star on their radar.
The 24-year-old scored in the World Cup semi-final in Qatar, and has enjoyed a strong season in the Bundesliga, netting 14 goals and adding 13 assists.
Ten Hag is also said to be an admirer of Ajax star Mohammed Kudus, 22, and Benifca’s Goncalo Ramos, 21.
Both have hit double figures in their league campaigns, though Kudus has enjoyed his most prolific period coming off the right flank, so represents a versatile option.
Finally, Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson is wanted, but a transfer for the teenager seems highly unlikely given the contract extension he signed last month.
This being said, with the Irish ace admitting his idol growing up was Wayne Rooney, there may be room for a transfer in the future.
While striker will be a position Ten Hag is desperate to address, other positions such as centre-back and midfield will need additions if the club are to fulfil his aim of fighting for the Premier League title.
In these terms, Prem stars Declan Rice and Mason Mount have both been linked with a move to Old Trafford, along with defenders Kim Min-jae and Jermaine Frimpong.

How Luton Town and Coventry City have an embarrassing thing in common as they face off in £200m Prem battle

THE biggest-money game in football isn’t the Champions League final for the top clubs in Europe – it is the one to get in to the Premier League. And on Saturday afternoon two teams who couldn’t be further removed from the glamour of Manchester City or Italy’s Inter Milan will battle to triumph in a match estimated to be worth more than £200million to the winner.
Coventry City keep getting evicted from their troubled stadium

Luton Town, who will have to knock down one side of their dilapidated 118-year-old ground to meet top flight standards, will face Coventry City, who keep getting evicted from their troubled stadium.
If Luton win, they will be the first side to go from the non-league up to the Premier League. On the other hand, Coventry were just 15 minutes away from going out of business a decade ago because they didn’t have anywhere to play.
As former Manchester United striker Mark Robins, 53, who manages Coventry, says: “It’s one for the romantics.”
Premier League fans have been shocked by the prospect of watching the beautiful game at Luton’s Kenilworth Road. The turnstile to the cramped away end goes through Victorian terraced houses.

Multi-millionaire stars such as Man City’s Erling Haaland will make their way to the tiny dressing rooms via a potholed car park and a door under a concrete bridge.
This week the club’s chief executive, Gary Sweet, joked about the way in under people’s homes, saying: “Haaland isn’t going to walk through that entrance, he’ll go through the other s*** entrance we’ve got.”

Away fans hoping their section of the ground is going to be redeveloped will be disappointed.
The club plans to knock down the neighbouring Bobbers Stand, containing executive boxes, and put up a temporary one in 14 weeks at a cost of £10million to fit in cameras and pundits.

The headache faced by Coventry isn’t much better.
Their stadium is owned by retail magnate Mike Ashley, 58, much hated by Newcastle United fans when he owned their club.
Ashley, who isn’t part of Coventry’s football set-up, bought the Coventry Building Society Arena in November last year. He is now leasing it to the football club for five years.
Whatever happens with the stadiums, fans of both sides will just be excited by the prospect of a return to the big time for two teams that were at their peak in the 1980s.
Coventry pulled off one of the greatest FA Cup final shocks in 1987, beating Tottenham 3-2.
A year later Luton defeated Arsenal by the same scoreline in the League Cup final.
The past two decades have been a struggle for survival for both clubs.
Twenty years ago, Luton was taken over by chairman John Gurney, whose pie-in-the-sky plans included building a Formula One racetrack around a 70,000-capacity stadium over the M1 motorway.
He held a Pop Idol-type vote for a new manager, charging fans 50p to take part, and talked about merging with rivals Wimbledon.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards will be hoping to do the unthinkable by taking the Hatters up to the top flightCredit: Damien McFadden
Even though the fans wrestled back control of the club from Gurney, their problems were far from over. In 2006 their then-manager Mike Newell promised to tackle a “bung scandal” in the game, which led to an investigation of the club’s dealings with players’ agents.
Two years later, they were deducted ten points “for paying agents via a third party”, then docked a further 20 points for being in administration, when they had no money but those put in charge believed they had a chance of saving the business.
They started the 2008-2009 season in the fourth tier with minus 30 points — then the worst penalty ever handed down by the Football Association. Their then-manager Mick Harford was unable to prevent relegation to non-league status.
But former England striker Harford, 64, who played in Luton’s League Cup final, saw it as the moment the Bedfordshire club was reborn, because it was in the hands of devoted fans. He told The Sun: “I said to the players, this is the time the new Luton Town starts.”
The club had so little money that the players trained on a public field where locals complained when balls hit their dogs.
Midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, 29, who has been with Luton since their non-league days, recalled: “We were on a dogs’ field with a few Portakabins.”
He was part of the team that won promotion back into the football league in 2014 and will be the first player to climb up all the divisions with one club if Luton win today.
Locals know how much Premier League action will mean to the team and the town.

The stadium’s wooden boards that make up some of the stands rock when the fans roar.
Musamoth Lucky, who lives in a housing association property over the ground’s entrance, felt the walls shake when the team won the home clash that put them in the play-off final. She said with a smile: “My living room was vibrating.”
The town council owns Luton’s Kenilworth Stadium and is considering plans for a new 20,000-capacity ground which would be owned by the club.
All the shareholders are local businessmen and Luton Supporters’ Trust has a one per cent share.
Kevin Harper, from the trust, says: “It will be sad to leave, but if we are to have any chance of competing in the Premier League we need a bigger stadium.”
Coventry City appear to be a cautionary tale for any club thinking of a stadium upgrade.
In 2001 there were plans for a 90,000-capacity ground with a retractable roof, but that was soon scaled back.
In the top flight for 34 years until May 2001, rising debts from the new ground forced Coventry to sell their best players.
Before the stadium was even finished, it was sold by the club in 2005 to property developers and rented back at a high cost.

In 2013 the club was forced to ground share with Northampton Town following a rent row.
Supporter Ian Davidson, 70, says: “I was told we were 15 minutes from going out of business before we went to Northampton.”
The club have had points deducted for going into administration and failing to fulfil fixtures due to the state of their pitch, which they used to share with Wasps rugby club. In 2017 they were relegated to lowly League Two, before climbing back up the leagues.
Premier League status would be a much-needed boost for Luton. It is estimated that half a billion pounds has poured into Brighton since they made it into the world’s richest football league in 2017.
Nearly a third of all children in Luton live in poverty, and its jobless rate of 8.5 per cent is almost twice the national average.
Gary Sweet praised the local community, saying: “It’s an industrial town, tough, hard-working and kind-hearted. More is donated to charity than anywhere in the UK.”
Neither Coventry nor Luton have splashed cash in the promotion push. Their wage bills are in the lowest three in the Championship.
Gary claimed: “A couple of Championship clubs spent more on agents fees than we did on players.”

For that reason their rise has been described as a fairytale.
Mick Harford, who is in charge of recruitment at the club and is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, concludes: “They should make a film out of it if we win.”

I’d rather be in Leeds or Leicester’s shoes on the final day than Everton’s – it will be catastrophic if they go down

IT WILL be catastrophic if Everton get relegated this weekend. They are a huge club and to taste the drop for the first time in 72 years would be disastrous.
Everton are dealing with the most pressure heading to the Premier League’s final dayCredit: Getty
On paper you want to be in Goodison boss Sean Dyche’s shoes going into this final day with a slight advantage over Leeds and Leicester, facing a Bournemouth team who are safe as houses.
But it will not be that simple. If Everton let the Cherries play, they will dominate the ball and cause a lot of problems and really hurt them.
I can see a scenario where Everton could either win comfortably — or lose comfortably and then everything is wide open.
I know Dyche’s boys can afford not to win and still stay up, but imagine holding out for a draw and then Leicester go and snatch a late goal?  Gut-wrenching.

That’s why, in a strange way, you’d almost prefer to be in the shoes of Leicester or Leeds. You know what you need to do — win — and then pray for a miracle.
When you know you can afford to win, lose or draw, that can play games with your mind. Do I really need to go in for this tackle? Do I really need to push on and attack?
Out of the three, I see Leicester’s game as a good one, against a West Ham side who have a European final to prepare for and just want  to coast through with no injuries.
Leeds have it toughest, no doubt. They need a swing of goals going for them and they need to get on the front foot from the first minute against Tottenham.

But just imagine how hostile Goodison Park, Elland Road and the King Power Stadium will be. The fans will be nervous. The players will be nervous.
You need to start well or it turns nasty and then nine times out of ten it is game over. Few players rise to the challenge in those circumstances.
The worst thing you can do as a player in these situations is overthink it. It doesn’t just start at breakfast on the morning of the game.
It starts two days before, over- thinking every scenario, figuring out in your squad who wants it and who is on board and who isn’t.

Whenever there is a big game, that week leading up to it would bring  a different intensity. You get some people who train two or three days before like it is the game with full tempo, it is brilliant.
There are also some who have some nerves, and they get a little kick and they are rubbing their ankle or stretching their hamstring a bit more.
You then start thinking: “He doesn’t fancy it. He is going to crumble.”
It sounds strange but not everyone in a fight-for-your-lives situation is up for it. There are fears and emotions.
Leeds need to beat Tottenham on Sunday and hope Everton will slip against Bournemouth and Leicester fail to beat West HamCredit: Getty
They will want to play but won’t want to be the guy that gets the  club relegated because of a mistake or embarrasses himself.
It is the over complicating of things that is the killer.
That’s what we did with Watford when we went to the Emirates on the last day of the 2019-2020 season needing to beat Arsenal and match Aston Villa’s result at West Ham.
In the first 20 minutes we were 3-0 down. We got it back to 3-2 and probably should have won the game in hindsight.
Leicester will have to beat West Ham to avoid relegation to the ChampionshipCredit: Getty
The difficulty for us was there was no crowd due to the pandemic, so we heard everything from the bench on what was happening in the other game.
Staff members had it on their phones and were sharing it constantly. It was carnage — you’re thinking: “What if we do get relegated?”, on top of the pressure to win.
It is better just not to know. We got to 3-2 and there was a drinks break straight after with 15 minutes to go.
Instead of us being on a high after just scoring and just getting back out there and continuing to play how we were playing, our thought was: “S**t we need to score immediately” and we left ourselves open.

We had Hayden Mullins on the touchline as Nigel Pearson had just been sacked. I am confident we would have stayed up had Nigel been kept on, but the club panicked.
That is nothing against Hayden, he did really well given the madness behind the scenes. More
