Sienra, also a doctor of law, was a legendary sailor for his native Uruguay.
And he represented his country at the 1948 Olympic Games in London, coming second in Race 2 of the Firefly class and sixth overall.

And at the start of the year he gave an interview declaring he still felt in good health.
Sienra said: “I feel good, I feel fit. But I don’t get into a sailing boat anymore.
“The last time I did that was when I turned 100. At that time we made a multi-day trip to a paradise island.”
Tributes have now poured in, with one person saying: “A friend tells me that Dr. Felix Sienra, a Uruguayan sailor who finished 6th in the 1948 London Olympics, died at the age of 107. RIP.”

Another added: “RIP Felix, the oldest living Olympian.”
Meanwhile, Euro Weekly adds Sienra was possibly the last “surviving contemporary witness” who saw Uruguay’s 4-2 win over Argentina in the first-ever World Cup final in 1930.
Reflecting on the event, Sienra also said this month: “I then celebrated the win with friends. We grilled fish and drank a lot of wine. That night was the first and last time I got really drunk.”
Sienra’s death now means that German Willy Busing is now the oldest living Olympian at 101.
The eventing rider won silver and bronze at the 1952 Games in Helsinki, and turns 102 on March 2nd. More

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing when the engine stopped working.
It crash landed upside down after taking off from Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary, around 200km (124m) away from the capital, Nairobi.
Rudisha, who won Olympic gold at London 2012 and Rio 2016, praised the “incredible” pilot for managing to keep the plane as stable as possible.
Rudisha was treated at hospital in the town of Makindu for minor injuries before being discharged.

Detailing his ordeal, he told Nation: “All was well close to seven or eight minutes into the flight when the engine of the plane suddenly went quiet.
“He [the pilot] saw some clear space where he tried to land the plane but one of its wings hit a tree as the plane started to spin before landing on the rocky field.
“We thank God we all came out alive with some soft tissue injuries that were treated before all were discharged save for one.
“It was a scary episode where you hold your heart in your hand as you pray to God. The pilot did an incredible job to keep the plane afloat and stable for long.”

One passenger, Kenya Masters Athletics chairman Stephen Ole Marai, was transferred to hospital in Nairobi for further treatment.
Marai said in a statement: “I had experienced some breathing difficulties after the accident but I am fine. All will be well since I am out of any grave danger… we thank God.”
Rudisha had been at Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary for the Maasai Olympics, for which he is a patron.
The Big Life Foundation, who organised the event, confirmed an investigation into the crash will take place.
A statement read: “As is normal following any crash involving an aircraft, the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority will investigate.
“Until they have completed their report, it is not appropriate to comment further.
“The best wishes of Big Life and all involved in the Maasai Olympics are with the injured passenger for a speedy recovery.”
Rudisha’s latest brush with danger comes three years after he crashed his car into a bus head-on when one of his tyres burst.
He shared pictures of his mangled vehicle at the time, having managed to walk away from the accident.

Sir Alex Ferguson almost managed Team GB at London 2012 Olympics but Man Utd BLOCKED him ahead of legend’s final season

Lord Coe wanted to get Sir Alex onboardCredit: Reuters
Coe, 65, wanted the former Manchester United boss to lead out the men’s British football team, which was a mix of Under-23s Premier League and Championship stars plus three over-aged members.
The pair held several conversations during the 2007-08 season – including one in a SUPERMARKET aisle – and Ferguson agreed to the proposal.
Lord Coe recalled: “We got very close to him taking over. I came up with the idea because we were having a bit of fragility around our Celtic cousins.
“It suddenly occurred to me that the one unifying influence in all that would be having a not necessarily English coach.

In the end, Fergie never took on the role – he went on to win a 13th and final Premier League crown before announcing his shock retirement from football in May 2013.
It appears resistance from Manchester United, the FA and British Olympic Association meant Fergie never took the reins like Sir Matt Busby did with the British side at the London 1948 Olympics.
Stuart Pearce, then the England Under-21s chief, ended up leading out the players on home soil a decade ago.
But it was the wrong call as the Brits were disappointingly defeated on penalties by South Korea in the quarter-finals in Cardiff.
Coe added: “We got pretty close to it. I’ve always laughed with Alex afterwards.
“I bump into him fairly regularly. He often wonders whether he missed out on a really good experience. The players would have benefited a lot from him.
