Man Utd blow in Gabri Veiga transfer race as Celta Vigo midfielder ‘dreams of joining Arsenal’

MANCHESTER UNITED and their rivals in the chase to sign Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga have allegedly suffered a huge blow. And that is because the 20-year-old Spanish Under-21 international is “dreaming about joining Arsenal”.

A host of Premier League teams, including both of the above and Man City and Newcastle, are all interested in the midfielder.
A report in today’s Faro de Vigo has also stated that Serie A leaders Napoli are “willing to activate” his £35.2m release clause at the end of the campaign.
But it seems that Veiga has no desire to move to Italy – with the publication instead saying that he wants to “fulfil the dream of signing for Arsenal”.
They are allegedly his “favourite” team and both he and his representatives like the club’s commitment towards youth and the sporting project being led by Mikel Arteta.

And it also adds that the prospect of living in London also appeals to the young ace.
Arsenal are not thought to have yet tabled an offer for the youngster as they allegedly prepare for the bidding auction to begin.
Veiga has shone bright this season in LaLiga as he has bagged nine goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
And Celta president Carlos Mourino recently accepted that holding onto Veiga is virtually impossible – not least financially.

He also revealed that at least four Premier League clubs are seriously interested in signing him.
Mourino said: “We want to keep Gabri Veiga but it will be impossible due to his release clause.
“We don’t want to sell, but they are going to buy him from us. And we can’t do anything there.
“We know some of his offers and it is impossible to reach them.

Tony Adams: Arsenal might be eight points ahead in Premier League title race.. but it’s STILL Man City’s to lose

IF Manchester City were eight points clear with ten games to go, there would not even be a question about the title race already being over. But because it’s Arsenal in that position, I still don’t think they’re favourites to be champions.

Erling Haaland and Co will be desperate to close the gap for champs Man CityCredit: Rex
Speaking from personal experience, I know just how difficult it is to get over that finishing line for the first time.
Arsenal are going to get tighter and tighter with every game they play.
In our last ten games of the season we were scrapping at home against teams who had absolutely nothing to play for.
We lost 2-1 at home to Derby and Dean Saunders scored twice. I was ready to rip his head off.

I was screaming ‘Jesus Christ, why are you trying so hard? Do you want Liverpool to win the title again?’
He told me he was  trying to win the Golden Boot and I said ‘well just stop it’.
But that’s how it’s going to be for Arsenal over the next two months because every game is going to feel like a cup final.

City might have as many as 18 more games to play but Pep Guardiola has so much talent at his disposal that he can pick one team in the league and another for the cup competitions.

They’ve won the title before and because they’re coming from behind they will be able to play with much more freedom than Arsenal.
Speaking from personal experience, I know just how difficult it is to get over that finishing line for the first time.Tony Adams
It’s going to be so tight and right now I’m experiencing a proper Fever Pitch moment because I’m watching every game from the edge of my seat like a proper fan.
Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise that Arsenal have been knocked out of the Europa League because it was never going to be their priority once they hit the top of the league.
We all saw what happened in that competition when they rested some of their top boys and they’re definitely not going to win the league with their back-up players.
Even with their best players available, they might not do it.
I might be the only person saying this but I still think it’s  City’s title to lose. More

Real Madrid are also thought to be keen, with Veiga understood to have a £35million release clause.

Sides such as Chelsea, Man City, Man United, Liverpool and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
However, they could all be set for disappointment in their pursuit of Bellingham as Dortmund are determined to keep him at Signal Iduna Park.
According to the German media outlet Bild, Dortmund are hoping to keep hold of him for one more season.
The club are planning to offer him a new contract that would see his salary increase by 150 per cent up to £13million for the year.

The outlet also claims that his contract would include a release clause of £131m.
This would allow the 19-year-old to leave the club to potential buyers while also guaranteeing the Bundesliga side a large transfer fee.
This means that interested clubs would have to wait another year to sign the former Birmingham City prospect.
The report suggests that Real Madrid are currently the favourites to sign Bellingham.

Man City ace Erling Haaland caught using mobile phone while driving £300k Rolls-Royce on dual-carriageway

FOOTIE sensation Erling Haaland has been being caught using his mobile phone while driving his £300,000 Rolls-Royce. The Man City star was spotted holding the smartphone while at the wheel.
Erling Haaland has been caught using his mobile phone while driving his Rolls-Royce
The striker can be seen with the device in his left hand while steering the wheel with his right
Photos seem to show the hotshot striker looking down into his lap as he clasps the device in his left hand, with his right hand on the steering wheel.
Norwegian Haaland, 22, was driving his white Rolls-Royce Cullinan on a dual carriageway in Manchester’s New Islington, close to City’s Etihad Stadium.
The incident occurred the day after Haaland bagged five goals in a 7-0 Champions League win against RB Leipzig on 14 March.
Anyone caught driving while using a mobile phone faces six penalty points and a £200 fine.

And if the driver only passed their test in the past two years, their licence can be revoked.
An onlooker said: “Erling has hardly put a foot wrong since he moved to City.
“But he needs to pay more attention to the road when he’s driving and needs to brush up on the law when he’s driving.
“It’s a silly mistake but could be a dangerous one for him and for other road users.

“The last thing City fans want is for him to have a bump which rules him out of a game.”
Road safety groups also criticised £375,000-a-week Haaland, who has bagged 42 goals in 37 games for the Sky Blues.
An AA spokesman said: “It’s a straight red with no excuses.
“Holding your phone while driving is dangerous. For someone so effective at scoring, this is definitely an own goal.”
The laws around using phones while driving were toughened up in March 2022.
At the time then Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “I will do everything in my power to keep road users safe, which is why I am taking a zero-tolerance approach to those who decide to risk lives by using their phone behind the wheel.”
An RAC report in 2020 found that one-third of drivers thought other motorists using their mobile phones at the wheel was one of their top safety concerns.
And statistics published last year revealed that in 2020 17 people were killed and 499 injured in crashes where the driver was using a mobile.

Sanchez incurred the wrath of the Emirates faithful with his move to Old Trafford, where he was pocketing a whopping £391,000 a week before bonuses.
But the Marseille man insists his departure from North London wasn’t driven by financial gain.
The 34-year-old said: “It wasn’t a money thing, so everyone knows,’ he said. ‘It was the same with United and City.

The star striker joined the reigning Prem champions last summer following a £51million deal with Borussia Dortmund, despite interest from some of Europe’s biggest hitters like Real.
According to AS, however, Los Blancos are planning to reignite their bid for the Norway international and are confident they will have their man by next year.
In fact, the Madrid giants are planning a world record offer in the range of £200m, which will eclipse Neymar’s £198m move to Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017.
The reigning European champions are confident the 22-year-old has a release clause, which activates every year from 2024 until his contract ends in 2027 despite City denying it.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side plans to stay in touch with the Norwegian’s camp until next year in order to be in pole position when the time comes to swoop in.
Real also believe Haaland can still leave the Etihad even if manager Pep Guardiola, who played an integral part in his signing, stays in Manchester.
The Spanish champions have major plans for the coming years as they will move for the ex-Red Bull Salzburg star even if they get PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Real are planning to form a Galacticos-type trio to spearhead their attack consisted of Haaland, Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
