    Spoils shared at Vicarage Road
A late equaliser from Southampton has kept their hopes alive of making it to the fifth round.
Martins scored early on for The Hornets before Armstrong ensured that The Saints get a replay.
The winners of this one could potentially be heading to Anfield in the next round.

The Welsh club would welcome Newcastle Utd to the Racecourse Ground.

Man City will have a tricky tie as they travel to Luton Town.
They found it hard work earlier in the season when they played.
After falling behind to an Adebayo goal, Bernardo Silva and Grealish managed to fire them to victory.
It certainly will be a cauldron of noise for the FA Cup fifth round.

Maidstone Utd were just one ball away from their dream draw.
With only four teams left in the pot, it seemed fate was going to give them Man City in money-spinning tie.
There were groans up and down the country as they drew Sheff Wed or Coventry.
Even fans of other clubs wanted to see the minnows get the financial rewards they deserve from making it this far.
Glen Johnson had other ideas sadly.

Players from both Wolves and West Brom have returned to the field of play at the Hawthorns.

Copy linkCopiedWest Brom vs Wolves suspended
West Brom’s clash with Wolves has been delayed due to crowd troubles in the Hawthorns Stadium.

    Spiky…
Erik ten Hag was asked by the BBC about Marcus Rashford’s absence today.
“He reported ill”, was his first response when asked where he was.
Pushed further on nightclub reports and pending disciplinary matter, he snapped back: “It’s an internal matter. I’ll deal with that.”
    Copy linkCopiedThe danger men
Will Evans is the man that the minnows will be praying can fire them to giantkilling glory.
The 26-year-old forward already has 17 goals this term for the play-off chasing Exiles and he knows it will just take one more against United to achieve legendary status at the club.
For United, they could look to Rasmus Hojlund who leads the line today.
He has two goals in his last three games and showing a bit of goal-scoring form.

    Copy linkCopiedMan in the middle
    David Coote is today’s referee.
He’s issues 19 yellow cards in his last four games in the middle.
The game previous to those he showed ten yellows and two reds cards.
    Copy linkCopiedTen Hag excitement
Erik ten Hag has said games like this highlight the ‘charm’ in cup football.
And he reckons his side are well equipped for teams raising their game against Man Utd.
He said: “I think we have the experience often to go into an opposition who play their biggest game. I think exactly every game against them, they want so much to win more than against any other opponent.
“So that attitude from the opposition, that is usual for us. But it’s not about them. It’s about us. If we show the right mentality there, it’s all about that.”
“We will manage the whole situation, of course, but also don’t make an item from it. It is what it is.
“And you know, that is also the charm from cup football. Take it as it is, act professional and make sure you get a win and go into the next round.”

In fact, midfielder Nathan Wood wanted to grab his shirt post-match – but the England striker will not be playing here at Rodney Parade.

    Copy linkCopiedThe gulf
We know it’s a tall ask for Newport this afternoon but just how big is it?
Well, there’s a huge 73 places between the pair in the English football pyramid.
Newport occupy 16th in League Two, with United hoping to climb up the table now some key men return.

    Copy linkCopiedGraham Coughlan massive red
Newport boss Graham Coughlan is looking for the biggest result of his managerial career today.
But he’s also a massive Reds fan – who watches the side across Europe!
He told the Daily Mail: “I followed United years ago, when they couldn’t win an argument, never mind a game.
“It was tough being a follower at that time because Liverpool were dominating, and you had to go to school every day and just get hammered. They’re going through a similar period now, like they experienced in the eighties, but they’ll come through and get to the other side of it.
“I was there the last time they lifted a trophy, the League Cup. Me and the kids were there. I was there the last time they lifted the FA Cup.
“I’ve been to finals that they’ve lost. They gave me one of the best nights of my life in Barcelona. The FA Cup final in 1985. I was there when Liverpool beat them in the League Cup final in 1983. My missus will always accompany me when the big European games come around, the kids come with me for the league games.”

A bit of a strange scenario as the fifth round draw is due shortly.
It was supposed to come before Liverpool’s tie with Norwich City.
But it was put back to half time – so will be on the way shortly.
    Copy linkCopiedRashford illness
On that Rashford illness, the United star faces disciplinary action for missing training after back-to-back nights out in Belfast.
Rashford is in hot water after he ‘was too ill on Friday’, despite being spotted in Thompsons Garage nightclub hours earlier.
Rashford trained on Wednesday and was pictured in Lavery’s Bar that evening ahead of a planned day off.
He is believed to have been in Northern Ireland to see his pal and former academy team-mate Ro-Shaun Williams, who is signed for Larne FC.
The striker was then seen in Thompsons on Thursday and flew home by private jet the following morning.

The Manchester United team and entourage have just arrived into Newport.
Thousands of home fans are in the streets to welcome them.
United are one of only two teams the League Two team have never faced from the top four divisions – Liverpool being the other.
Tickets for this game at Rodney Parade sold out in just little over half an hour on Monday.
There will be a capacity 9,500 packed in with 1,400 from United.

    Copy linkCopiedTaking no chances
Erik ten Hag has said he’ll be taking a strong team for today’s fixture and is taking no chances.
But he WON’T have Marcus Rashford – more on that shortly…
The United boss said: “We’ll have a strong side.
“We have still some injuries like Victor Lindelof and Tyrell Malacia.
“Marcus Rashford was ill, Jonny Evans was ill so we have to see how they recover.
“But for the rest, we have players returning like Lisandro Martinez, like Luke Shaw, like Harry Maguire, like Casemiro which is a good thing.”
    Copy linkCopiedGAME DAY!
Hello and welcome to today’s FA Cup fourth round coverage as League Two Newport aim to take the ultimate scalp against Manchester United.
County sit 16th in the fourth tier and are – of course – long odds to topple 12-time winners United.
But some might say it’s as good a time as any to take on Erik ten Hag’s men.
Nevertheless, there’s a major gulf between the two sides in all aspects.
It will be a good test for County – but one they’ll certainly relish.
    Will United? That’s the question…
A place in the fifth round is up for grabs and we’ll have all the action here!

Manchester United had to do it without Marcus Rashford today.
The forward is in hot water after reporting ill when not making training on Friday.
It later emerged he’d been out in Belfast on the Thursday night – and Erik ten Hag was spiky when questioned pre-match.
“He reported ill”, was his first response when asked where he was.
Pushed further on nightclub reports and pending disciplinary matter, he snapped back: “It’s an internal matter. I’ll deal with that.”

United return to Premier League action in midweek with a tricky trip to Wolves on Thursday.
High flying West Ham and Aston Villa come next before a trip to Luton on February 18.

    Copy linkCopiedMore from Coughlan
The boyhood United fan was asked what his biggest memory of today would be – and he said losing the game!
He also reckons his family in the stand – 14 of which traveled from Ireland last night – will be just as dejected.
He continued:” My biggest memory will be? Getting beat I suppose. You want memories to be successful. I’m a bad loser. There’s a real good bond in that dressing room and they represented the club immensely today.
“It wasn’t to be but I’m so proud of the lads. We needed those little moments and it didn’t fall for us.
“My family will probably be feeling the same as me, a little bit dejected. It hasn’t sunk in for me yet what we’ve achieved. We’ve just come up a little bit short on the day.”
    Copy linkCopiedCoughlan reacts
The Newport manager says scoring twice against United today will live with his players forever.
He was full of praise for the character of his side and admitted he was dreaming of a replay at one stage.
He told Match of the Day: “The best team won, they were clinical when they got their chances.
“At 2-2 the ball comes off the post and it fell to Antony. I did think at 2-2 we could possibly force a replay if we could weather the storm. Class saw them through.
“A lesser team might have chucked the towel in but I spoke about character at half-time. The lads reacted really well in the second half.
“When you score two goals against Manchester United, that creates memories. That will live with our boys forever. I’ve challenged our lads to push on.”

At the end of the day, United got the result they came for.
They’ll be back on the road in the next round, too.
United head to the winners of Bristol City vs Nottingham Forest, who’ll contest a replay.
    Copy linkCopiedTen Hag reacts
The United boss continues the spiky nature of speaking to the press that he started the day with.
He also didn’t appear to be in the picture when the benches exchanged handshakes at the end….
He told Match of the Day: “The first 35 minutes minutes were very comfortable leading 2-0. It should have been 3-0 or 4-0. They created chances out of nothing.
“Our defence transition was not great. We had to start again to win this game and we did. Well done boys.
“We controlled the game, maybe we went a little bit slower. We had the chance to go 3-0. Garnacho hit the crossbar. They had nothing, really nothing and then they scored a goal.”

Speaking of which, Bruno Fernandes was awarded the Emirates Man of the Match for his display today.
    Copy linkCopiedBruno reacts
United skipper Bruno Fernandes was disappointed with today’s score, admitting it ‘wasn’t perfect’.
He told Match of the Day: “It wasn’t the result we wanted.
“We wanted to win and we got it, but the result wasn’t the perfect one for us.
“We didn’t want to concede goals. Their first was an unbelievable shot but we had to kill the game before letting them get a second.”

The numbers behind that 90 minutes of football.

United have got past a huge banana skin here at Rodney Parade but it’s not been convincing.
The League Two side had them rocking after Bryn Morris and Will Evans scored either side of half time to come back from 2-0 down.
United got through in  thanks to Anthony’s tap-in after Luke Shaw’s cracker bounced back of the right post – and then Rasmus Hijlund made the game safe in injury time.
If this was a League Two game you would say United deserved it but when you consider the gulf in class between the teams you have to say Erik ten Hag’s team have been poor.
Lots for Ten Hag to ponder going forward.
Newport meanwhile can be proud and they banked £400,000 from this tie.

    Farewell
That’s all from us tonight – this game will be rearranged for the replay, although no firm date has been given just yet.
    Have a good evening.
    Copy linkCopiedMauricio Pochettino
On tonight’s performance: “They have amazing players in attack. They didn’t score and we kept a clean sheet. We face a team like Aston Villa, it is difficult.
“Of course, we didn’t score but we created chances. I trust and believe in my players, for sure, playing in this way that we are going to score. Emiliano is an amazing keeper, he was really, really good and sometimes you need some luck to score.”
On Levi Colwill: “We don’t believe it’s too bad. A smaller issue. He didn’t feel comfortable. We knew before we might not start with him but then he was ready to play, but then he felt something.”
On Petrovic: “He’s doing fantastic. We need to give full credit. He arrived from the MLS, he’s really young, he’s competing really well. The way he behaves in the goal, it shows his quality and character. It’s amazing.”

    Copy linkCopiedUnai Emery
“Very happy and proud of our work. I was aware about how we need to be competitive like before.
“We struggled in the first half, but we spoke in the dressing room about how we won here before and were competitive facing matches like tonight.”
The Spanish boss also says he is excited to get his side back to Villa Park having played the last four games away from home.
“In the second half we were getting progressively better and we finished strong.
“We were as well trying to win the mach with our game plan like we prepared before. I have to accept the draw and we are going to be motivated with our supporters [at home].”

We’re just waiting to hear from the managers here inside the press room. Sadly no more food or beverage updates to bring you.
But we’ll have word from the managers as soon as they arrive.

Cole Palmer will surely be running over those chances in the dressing room now.
Twice Aston Villa players passed him the ball inside the box and twice he was unable to find the back of the net.
It wasn’t quite the horror show of the Riverside a couple of weeks ago, but an England international and player of his technical quality really should be doing better with both of those changes.
The first was hit straight at the keeper and the second was a total mishit.

Copy linkCopiedFT: Chelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
All over here at Stamford Bridge in what was a proper cup tie – fast, frantic, often lacking in quality but never in excitement.
Chelsea dominated possession and probably had the better opportunities, with Cole Palmer having two clear attempts that he should have done better with.
Both of those came from Aston Villa mistakes, who were often guilty of overplaying at the back.
But the visitors also had their fair share of chancesm, with Djordje Petrovic making two very good saves to keep Unai Emery’s side at bay.
Neither manager will have wanted that one to end in a draw, but probably a fair result overall.
Copy linkCopiedFULL-TIME: Chelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
We’re heading for a replay at Villa Park.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    90. In case you were wondering – yes, the game will go to a replay if there is a draw here tonight.
Replays are vaild in the third and fourth rounds but from the fifth round on matches go to extra-time then penalties.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    90. Another sub for the visitors, with Leon Bailey replacing Moussa Diaby for the final couple of minutes.
The fourth official also tells us we’ve got just three minutes to play.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    89. Another sub for the Blues, former Villa man Carney Chukwuemeka replaces Enzo.
Huge roar from the home end and huge boos from the away end, of course.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    87. Almost a goal for Ollie Watkins!
Enzo Fernandez is beaten too easily by Zainolo who drops in a cross – Watkins gets ahead of Thiago Silva but his hooked effort goes right across goal and past the far post.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    86. Both sides really pushing hard for this winner. Villa earn themselves a corner and after the ball is half cleared, it drops to Ezri Konsa who flashes an effort just wide of the post.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    82. Villa nearly the architects of their own downfall again – this time its Boubacar Kamara with a loose back pass that almost falls at the feet of Conor Gallagher.
Thankfully for the visitors, Emi Martinez is alert to the danger and puts in an excellent tackle on the edge of the box before Gallagher can get the ball under control.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    82. Now it’s Unai Emery’s turn to make a couple of changes – Nicolo Zainolo is coming on for Youri Tielemans and Matty Cash is being replaced by Diego Carlos.
Copy linkCopiedCole Palmer has had a couple of good chances but couldn’t find the net
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    76. Two more substitutions incoming for the Blues, with Poch desperate to stem a tide of VIlla attacks.
Armando Broja is coming on for Noni Madueke and Raheem Sterling is replaced by Mykhailo Mudryk.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    74. Villa really finding their feet now and force Petrovic into two excellent saves within 90 seconds.
First, Ollie Watkins is set free on the right and fires across goal, but it is comfortably batted away by the Serbian.
The second was certainly not so easy – this time Matty Cash is set free down the right and cuts inside onto his left.
His effort looks like it will sneak into the far corner before Petrovic turns it round the post and out for a corner.
Copy linkCopiedView from SunSport’s Jordan Davies at Stamford Bridge
The end of the first half has spilled over into this opening period of the second half – a real lack of cutting edge from both sides.
As I am typing, Cole Palmer has missed an absolute sitter of a volley from another Villa mistake at the back, this time from Emi Martinez.
Other than that, a lot of the noteworthy action is away from the pitch.
Mauricio Pochettino has been left gobsmacked by several refereeing decisions, having to calm down his own bench from harassing the fourth official
Noni Madueke was forced to change his boots after one of them had ripped at the sole. Will be interesting to see if a change of footwear will change his fortunes in front of goal. Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell is on, and has taken the captain’s armband.
Aston Villa look relatively comfortably, but for the odd mad moment at the back, but Ollie Watkins needs more service to trouble Chelsea’s backline.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    71. Absolutely frantic stuff here again, the temperature and pace of this game has gone through the roof.
Both sets of fans now in full voice – this is the loudest I’ve heard Stamford Bridge in weeks – and the game has become frantic and end to end.
Both teams believe they can win it.
We’re surely in for a thrilling final 20 minutes.
Copy linkCopiedNoni Madueke fires in a cross from the rightCredit: Getty
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    65. Here comes the change for Chelsea, with Chilwell replacing youngster Alfie Gilchrist, who has looked assured all evening.
A full reshuffle for the Chelsea back four now – Disasi slides over from centre-back to right-back and Badiashile moves from the left to the centre.
Chilwell takes up his usual position on the left and also collects the captain’s armband.
    Copy linkCopiedChelsea 0-0 Aston Villa
    62. Ben Chilwell, who played so well on his return to action against Middlesbrough, is now preapring to come on.

Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool LIVE: Xabi Alonso CLEAR favourite for Reds job after bombshell statement – updates

JURGEN KLOPP has announced he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season – and former star Xabi Alonso is the bookies’ favourite to replace him.The German took over at Anfield in November 2015 but he has now decided to call time on his Liverpool career.
But he revealed he is running out of energy and cannot continue in the job year after year.
Follow ALL of the latest updates below…
    Alonso on Liverpool speculation
Xabi Alonso has broken his silence after being linked to the Liverpool job following Jurgen Klopp’s summer exit.
He said: “I was surprised by Jurgen’s news. I have huge respect for Jurgen and Liverpool.
“At the moment I am really happy here and enjoying my work. Each day and game is a challenge. We are in an intense and beautiful journey here at Leverkusen.”
“Speculation is normal, but I have great respect and admiration for what Jurgen has done at Liverpool in the last nine years, and how he’s done it.
“He has a connection with the fans, he’s done a great job, but my focus is here at Bayer Leverkusen.
“I have great motivation to do a good job here, I’m very happy with the team, with the club, with everything, so that’s my focus.
“My focus isn’t on May, it’s on tomorrow ahead of our game against Gladbach and helping my players to be ready. But what I will say is it was surprising what happened at Liverpool with Jurgen leaving.”

    Copy linkCopiedKlopp was ‘in tears’
Jurgen Klopp admits there were “tears” when he told Liverpool’s staff and players that he’d be leaving at the end of the season.
Klopp informed Reds chiefs of his decision to step down last NOVEMBER, although players and staff only learned of his exit today.
And the Kop icon revealed there was a wave of emotion when he informed them that he’s moving on to pastures new.
He said: “I had some talks in the last days when I had to tell other people before the public.
“There were some tears. That’s normal when we were so long together.
“The club needs time to plan the future while we are in the present.”

    Copy linkCopiedKirkland on Klopp departure
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has hailed Jurgen Klopp fr treating everyone the same while in charge at Anfield.
He said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I’m actually at Anfield with the LFC Foundation today, we got the news, obviously. Going back a couple of years, I’m sure I’m right in saying he said 2024 would be his last year at Liverpool, I’m not sure if I’m right in saying that. First and foremost, what he has done for the football club, the trophies he’s done since he’s been here, he’s transformed the football side of things.
“But as a human being as well, the things people might not see, what he does and being around the club and working for the foundation, he’s an unbelievable person. He treats everybody the same, doesn’t matter whether you’re Mo Salah or somebody taking the rubbish out at Anfield or the training ground. He treats everybody the same, he gives you that hug, the smile, he just makes you feel good when you’re around him. Just gives you a sense of ease when you’re around him. He’s just a wonderful human being. He’s certainly going to be missed. I’m sure it’s the right decision for him.
“Yes he’s going to be a huge miss, we thank him and he’s still got a lot to play for this season and we hope he can go out and do what he deserves and win more titles and win more cups before he does step down.”
    Copy linkCopiedKlopp wished luck
Fulham boss Marco Silva has wished Jurgen Klopp good luck on his next chapter.
He said: “A big surprise for all of us.
“Almost eight years and 500 games and it’s been a big success.
“A really nice guy and I wish him all the best.”

Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic has hailed Jurgen Klopp after his announcement to leave Liverpool
He said: “Jurgen Klopp is an outstanding person.
“I was lucky enough to get to know him here. He has shaped our club and Liverpool like no other.
“I am sure that there will be another station in his coaching life, there will be a place where he will do a similarly good job.”

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that he understands Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave Liverpool.
He said: “I can understand him, I think we have the best [job], but it is very tough.
“You need energy and have to push every day, improve day by day.
“You can’t stop your improvement and studies for a new idea.
    “Football is always in development.”

Erik ten Hag has sympathised with Klopp’s time at Liverpool.
He added: “I can understand that. Nine years is a long time.
“I think it’s a period by building up, achieving targets but also I think setbacks and going into difficult periods.
“The PL is very intense, the combination with European club football, when you’re there nine years it’s a long period and I can understand he is running out of energy and that is one of his arguments to step down.”

Copy linkCopiedTen Hag on Klopp exit
Erik ten Hag has claimed that the Premier League will miss out after Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool.
He said: “It’s no good for the Premier League.
“He has made an era there, he built the club, he brought the club back where they belong, so congratulationss on that.
“He has done an amazing job in Liverpool.”
    Copy linkCopiedLiverpool ‘face decline’
Pennant believes that Liverpool could fall into a slump similar to Manchester United’s post Fergie era once Jurgen Klopp leaves.
He Lord Ping: “It is possible that Liverpool could face a post-Fergie style decline. But the squad is so young and being built, whereas Fergie left Man Utd with a team on the decline and they needed to freshen up.
“Then they had David Moyes come in who chose the wrong players.
“Liverpool don’t need a change, they have young players who Liverpool can look to for the next five or six years.
“The core team is very, very good so I don’t think we will see a Fergie decline.”
    Copy linkCopiedEngland ‘should consider Klopp’
Pennant has also suggested that England should make an approach to Jurgen Klopp about replacing Gareth Southgate.
He told Lord Ping: “Klopp knows England, he knows the players and the style. I think England would be crazy to not try and tap him up, he knows all the best youngsters and he knows how to get the best out of them. His teams have played against them all. He knows more than anyone about them and how they play.
“He knows the English game well and he has an attacking style, his teams are always on the front foot. So as an England fan I think they would be crazy not to throw the kitchen sink at him. With the talent we have got, maybe we could win the World Cup in 2026.
“Any manager would be tempted with a strong team at a World Cup, especially when England have the players to win a World Cup. If they come knocking and the deal is right, he’s not putting too much on his body, so I think it would make sense for Klopp. There will definitely be a bidding war but England will be stupid to miss this boat.”

Copy linkCopied’Klopp eyeing Madrid’ – Pennant
Jermaine Pennant has admitted that he thinks that Jurgen Klopp has announced his decision to leave Liverpool as he wants the Real Madrid job.
He told Lord Ping: “There are only two reasons I can think of. It could be a personal issue, where he’s letting them know now instead of at the end of the season, so they can find a replacement. But that’s just speculation.
“Or there is a massive opportunity to go to Real Madrid. If he’s going to manage them for a long period, I think 100% he’s got Real Madrid in his sights. We know how demanding the Premier League is and it’s just as much for the management and coaching staff. The Premier League is the hardest, most taxing league in Europe. He’s come out and said he can’t give much more. Meaning he’s getting down to his bare bones.
“I don’t think there’s a risk we won’t see him manage again but you won’t see manage one of the top clubs in the Premier League.
“Real Madrid have Mbappe going there, they have Bellingham, so it could be Real Madrid.”

Jorg Schmadtke is set to follow Jurgen Klopp out of the exit door at Liverpool
He said: “Liverpool is a very special club so to have had the opportunity to work here has been a huge honour for me, even though I knew from the outset that it would only be for a short period.
“I would like to thank everyone – the owners, manager, staff, players and fans – for the support I have been given and offer my best wishes for the rest of this season.”

    Copy linkCopiedKlopp already getting interest
Jurgen Klopp has emerged as a managerial candidate for Barcelona after announcing that he would be leaving Liverpool, reports suggest.
This surprise move has opened the door for Barcelona to make an attempted swoop for the 56-year-old.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is a long-term admirer of Klopp.
And given the club’s struggles with current boss Xavi Hernandez, the Blaugrana may be prompted into a change of leadership at the end of the season.

    Copy linkCopiedOwen picks Klopp replacement
Michael Owen has backed Xabi Alonso to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.
He told BoyleSports Premier League odds: There’ll be loads of options available to Alonso in the future, and I would have thought that he would probably have his eyes set on the teams that he played for – like Real Madrid or Liverpool – when the opportunity comes up.
“I’d have thought Alonso’s more realistic aim would be one of these clubs, but his thoughts could be subconscious. He’ll be fully engrained in what he’s doing now, though, and he has to make his name first.
“He’s doing a great job. When the time comes in the future, then the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid may be more tempting for him.”

    Copy linkCopiedKlopp thanks supporters
Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool’s supporters and asked them to accept his decision.
He said: “The message to supporters: I really would like you to accept the decision. That would be nice. And then if I can ask for one more thing, after telling you don’t sing my song too early, after telling you be loud in the stadium, stuff like this, if I could ask you for one more thing it would be: don’t make these games about me, because there’s no need.
“The only thing I always wanted was the full support for the team, it’s not for me. I know about our relationship, I don’t need any kind of proof.
“We will have a moment, maybe the last matchday here or somewhere else – I mean in other countries or other competitions. There’s enough time to do these kinds of things. Let’s now really go for it.
“The outside world want to use this decision, laugh about it, want to disturb us. We are Liverpool, we went through harder things together. And you went through harder things before me. Let’s make a strength of it.
“That would be really cool. Let’s squeeze everything out of this season and have another thing to smile about when we look back in the future. Thank you.”

Thomas Tuchel has spoken about Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool.
He said: “I have to digest that first.

    Copy linkCopiedClub reaction
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he and the club have a good relationship although they didn’t have a “party” when he said he was leaving.
Klopp said: “They didn’t smash a party! We developed a really good relationship over the years, but I explained it and they know me now for so long that they know I don’t say these kind of things and leave a little bit of the door open, ‘Come on, try to convince me’ and these kind of things.
“As I said, we’ve known each for so long and that good. That was clear and they accepted, they just accepted it. Nobody was really happy. The few people I have told so far, who I told so far, were not really happy.
“I am not happy with it, I just know it’s right. What are the alternative scenarios? What are they? Usually as a manager you get the sack. You have a bad spell before – five, six, seven weeks – and everybody is relieved when you part ways. I’m not sure what’s the other one… you get ill and you have to stop.
“And unfortunately, or fortunately, I have to do it like that. I don’t like that we have to make that fuss of myself, I don’t consider myself as that important but I know that the outside world sees that slightly different.
“That’s why we do that. Doing a press conference, doing an official announcement is a rare thing to do in that situation; we just want to make sure that everybody who is with us gets informed in the best possible way. But after this I’m completely in the Norwich game, I’m completely in the Chelsea game, in the Arsenal game, whatever game is coming up.
“I’m completely in that. There is no need for any farewell parties now, there is a long season to go. I want to be 100 per cent in it, and I am. I am. Nobody has to worry about my mindset. It would be really cool if you just could accept my decision as a difficult one but the right one. That’s it. Because as much as I love everything, I still think it’s the right one – that could show you it is probably the right one.”

Copy linkCopiedKlopp wants to try a ‘normal life’
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that the season will not be disrupted and that he is keen to try a normal life before he is too old.
He said: “100 percent that is up to us I would say. I had a similar situation at Dortmund but it is up to us.
“I am committed to the season, we have 30 games coming up which is almost a full season, it is all about us. The way we grew together in the last few years is exceptional and I always said nothing has to happen because of me.
“So nobody has to make the games about me if I can ask for that it would be really nice. We just support each other, I am fully here, I don’t think anybody realised any difference in the last few months,.
“When I made the decision it was a relief as well it was like there was a finishing line. If I could stay here in a role I would be over the moon, but I can’t.
“We only get disturbed if we let it happen as a club and I am sure the team and the crowd will be fine.
“I think it is worth to live in the moment and push each other as much as we can and go for everything. And next season there is no reason for that to be 100 per cent.
“There are still people working on it, so the club is in good hands and the future is bright.
“If you look at my career, I would say it is not possible, ending up as Liverpool manager is a fairytale, but it is only possible if you are very busy and dedicate your whole life to it.
“I came here on the first day and said I am normal guy, but I don’t live a normal life and I don’t want to get to old before I see how it is. I need to give it a try and it is the right moment for me and for the club.”
    Copy linkCopiedKlopp on why now
Jurgen Klopp has insisted now is the right time to make the announcement as it gives Liverpool the chance to plan for his exit.
He said: “Of course, I would not have said anything to anybody until the end of the season and then say good by but it is not possible.
“It is not possible in the world we are living in to keep things like this secret.
“There are so many things that are influenced by it, personal situations like my staff need to know early and the club needs to know.
“You can not plan anything without making it public and that means the club needs time. Over the years, my role was a dominant one, it was not intentionally.
“I really don’t want that but I have to because if you have to make a decision like this, it is better to do it slightly early rather than too late.
“This club is a wonderful platform and basis for the future and the only thing that could disrupt that now is that you can not make the right decisions because you are running out of time.
“That was important to me that I inform everybody as early as possible.”

Copy linkCopiedKlopp insists he is healthy
Jurgen Klopp has insisted that he is healthy and that part of the reason he is leaving Liverpool is that he has got the club back to a good position.
He said: “I am okay, I am healthy so as much as you can at my age, just a few bits and bobs, nothing anyone has to worry about.
“I told the club already in November, the job I do people see from the outside, when I am on the touchline or in training but the majority of things happen around these things.
“That means that a season starts and you already plan the next season.
“We were sat there together about potential signings and summer camp and the thought came up that I was not sure that I would be here any more. And I was surprised that I thought that about myself and then I started thinking about it and of course, last season was a super difficult one.
“And there were moments that at other clubs the decision would have been to have split or finish it. For me it was super important that I can bring this team back on the rails and it was all I was thinking about.
“When I realised pretty early that the team had a super age group and a massive potential. I could start thinking about myself again and that was the outcome. I think it is 100 per cent right.”

Jurgen Klopp may be leaving Liverpool in the summer but there is still plenty for him to win.
The Reds are currently leading the race for the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, they are also still competing in the Europa League and the FA Cup.
Should the German mastermind a treble-winning season, he would take his trophy haul as Liverpool manager to ten.
