    Chelsea legend Petr Cech wins man of the match for ice hockey team after making whopping 62 SAVES in close win

    LEGENDARY Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has embarked on a new second career in ice hockey – and he’s tearing it up in that too.The 41-year-old is playing for semi-professional ice hockey side Oxford City Stars as a goaltender – with the team playing in the third division of British ice hockey.

    It’s his third club in the sport, after playing for Guildford Phoenix and briefly training with NHL side Chicago Blackhawks.
    The former Blues and Arsenal goalkeeper played junior hockey growing up in the Czech Republic.
    And his latest match for the club saw a star performance from the former goalkeeper after he pulled off a remarkable 62 saves from 64 shots.
    Oxford City Stars tweeted: “YOUR STARS MAN OF THE MATCH… Could have been a number of people, but with 62 saves from 64 shots on Goal, its #39 PETR CECH”

    It was the second time Cech has won the accolade, having also won man of the match on his debut for the club.
    The goalkeeper initially balanced his semi-professional ice hockey career alongside being a technical director at Chelsea.
    But the goalkeeper did not make it beyond the Roman Abramovich era after being let go by Todd Boehly shortly after he took over.
    A legendary goalkeeper for the Blues and later for Arsenal, Cech made 633 appearances in English football and picked up 14 trophies along the way.

    Cech holds the record for keeping the most clean sheets in Premier League history with 202.
    He also holds the record for the most clean sheets kept in a single season, 24, which he did with Chelsea in 2004/05 under Jose Mourinho.
    He’s the only goalkeeper to win the Premier League’s golden glove with two different teams and was inducted into the Premier League’s hall of fame this year. More

    RYAN REYNOLDS’ dream of owning an ice hockey team collapsed prior to his venture into Formula One.He and fellow actor Rob McElhenney have joined forces again to purchase a 24 per cent stake in the Alpine F1 team for £171million.

    It adds to their growing sports portfolio as they are also chiefs at League Two side Wrexham.
    Reynolds has been keen to branch out into a new sport away from football and he was in the running to buy the Ottawa Senators.
    The NHL side are for sale after owner Eugene Melnyk died last year.
    Reynolds was keen to purchase the team and join in a consortium with real estate developers The Remington Group.

    Their reported bid was valued at more than £786m.
    However, the Canadian star withdrew his offer at the final hour after he was denied a request for an extension as he looked to secure a new stadium for the ice hockey outfit.
    Prior to pulling out, Reynolds met with the mayor of Ottawa and attended a Senators game.
    Businessman Michael Andlauer now looks set to purchase the club.

    Reynolds’ bid is set to beat offers coming from two different consortiums involving rapper Snoop Dogg and pop star The Weeknd, who were both reportedly interested in the Senators.
    For now, his focuses are on Wrexham following their promotion from the National League as champions and Alpine, who sit fifth in the constructors standings.
    Speculation suggests Reynolds’ net worth is valued at £282million. More

    The legendary goalkeeper began a fresh chapter in his career by becoming the Chelmsford Chieftains’ new goaltender at the age of 40.
    But the Czech hero opted to drop his iconic No1 shirt, which he donned at Rennes, Chelsea and Arsenal.
    Now Cech wears the No39 shirt.
    He does so in homage to legendary Czech goaltender Dominik Hasek, who was also known as The Dominator.

    That number has a special meaning for the Prem legend, who would cut out articles about his favourite goalies, including Hasek, from the age of six to add to a fat scrapbook.
    The four-time Premier League champion insists he still “loves” football, which is why he is also working on his coaching badges.
    But the former Czech Republic international is also living a childhood dream as an ice hockey player.
    Cech told the Mail: “When I was a kid, I wanted to be an ice hockey player.

    “For some reason when you see the goalies with the gear, the pads, the gloves, it resonated with me.
    “Don’t get me wrong, I love football. But in terms of playing, I felt being an ice hockey goalie was more fun.
    “But as a family, we couldn’t afford to buy all the equipment – the stick, the pads, helmet, gloves, everything. It was super expensive.
    “So my dad [Vaclav] took me to football. The timing collided and in the end, football won.’ More
