TYSON FURY has reportedly tested negative for Covid-19 and will return to the UK after his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder on July 24 was postponed. The Gypsy King was allegedly suffering with the disease but has now been given the all clear and will fight the Bronze Bomber on October 9.

According to journalist Dan Rafael, Fury has been given the all clear by his doctor to travel back to the UK after testing negative for Covid.
News of a Covid outbreak in the 32-year-old’s training camp broke earlier this month, delaying the bout until further notice.
Although Fury was expected to recover before the fight, he would have missed several days of crucial training – giving Wilder an unfair advantage.
The reigning WBC heavyweight champion is yet to confirm his positive Covid test and has not commented on his health since the news broke.
But he has promised to come back stronger when he meets Wilder in October for a third time.
Fury said: “I wanted nothing more than to smash the big dosser on July 24, but I guess the beating will have to wait.
“Make no mistake, I will be back and better than ever. We will fight October 9 – and I will knock him spark out!”
Should the October bout go ahead as planned, it will be Fury’s first fight in 19 MONTHS – stopping Wilder to win the WBC crown in February 2020.

Co-promoter Frank Warren has expressed his frustration at the Brit’s wait to return to the ring.
He told BT Sport: “It’s looking some time in October, which is a great shame it’s been postponed, but it is what it is.
“Unfortunately, they in the camp and himself got tested positive for Covid. There’s nothing we can do about it.
“It’s the times we live in, so the fight is postponed. Pushed back. Very frustrating. Really frustrating for Tyson.
“By the time he gets into the ring, he will have been out for nearly 20 months. That’s a long, long time.”

And Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum has revealed the boxer delayed having his second vaccine dose because he didn’t want to risk falling ill before the fight.
Arum said: “He got vaccinated in Miami. He got the first shot.
“And then he said he didn’t want to get the second shot because he didn’t want to get sick so close to the fight. So, he got Covid instead.”
Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, meanwhile, believes Fury’s fight with Wilder was never going to happen in July due to low ticket sales.
He said: “They sold no tickets. Basically, you could go online and check… This was going to do very, very poor pay per view numbers.”

Former undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk will provide Joshua with one of the toughest fights of his career, which Joyce reckons his fellow Brit will pass.
He told Boxing News: “I will happily take on whoever wins, but I would love the opportunity to fight Joshua.
“I think he will want to fight (Tyson) Fury so we will have to see what happens there, but I am on the WBO track and looking to be made mandatory.
“I think Usyk could be a tricky fight for Joshua, but he should knock him out sooner or later you would think.
“It is heavyweight boxing, so you never know, but Usyk is no joke.
“He is an Olympic gold medallist, a very skilled southpaw, so he will probably pose Joshua problems with his good footwork and ringcraft.

“I do think Joshua will get to him, sooner or later.”
Joyce, 35, is gearing up for a showdown with French heavyweight Carlos Takam, whom he’ll face at the SSE Wembley Arena a week on Saturday.
And the Juggernaut reckons his clash with the battle-tested Takam will do wonders for his world title bid.
He added: “I chose Takam as a good move for me.
“It is all about getting the right fights and I think this is one to get people talking. It will keep me ready too for when I get my turn to fight for the world title.
Joe Joyce will face Carlos Takam a week on Saturday

“He is a respected opponent who has been in with the best, like Joshua and also Chisora, who has been mentioned to fight me but I don’t think he wants it.
“It is going to be a great fight.
“Maybe you will see a bit of both, depending on which Takam turns up, although I think I know what kind of style he will have.
Whatever works to get me the win is what you will see.
“It is going to be a tough test and a real hard fight, also good stylistically to watch. So tune in!”

Money was widely criticised for not being able to stop the boxing novice in their Miami showdown, a bout Tyson believes is a sign the sport has taken its toll on him.
During the latest episode of his Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, he said: “You see, Floyd [Mayweather], he is damaged.
“He is damaged. He wants to come back and fight. You see, that’s what that does.
“I came back, that’s not right. It f**ks you up. It is damaged.
“Listen, I didn’t feel that way, I never wanted to do this s**t again, and I don’t know what it is, I wish I could, but I’m just taking advantage of what this game is, you get me?”
Tyson’s comments will further fuel the 20-year feud between himself and Mayweather, whom he was once close with.
Mayweather looked a shadow of the man who toyed with former UFC champion Conor McGregor four years ago and has no intention of setting foot inside the ring again.

After the fight, he said: “Will I make a comeback? Absolutely not. I have retired from the sport of boxing.
“I probably won’t do an exhibition again either.”
Tyson, 55, returned to the squared circle last November for an exhibition with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr.
The former world champions turned in better than expected displays, with Tyson impressing many with his trademark ferocity.
Iron Mike is hoping to return to the ring later this year and has set his sights on rematches with former foes Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield.

The former undisputed heavyweight champ said: “I want [Evander] Holyfield and Lewis this year.
“I want both of them, I want to get them both this year.
“I also want to box an exhibition with Tyson Fury.
“If I do that – even if I can get those two guys, I’ll say; ‘This is a wrap, I’m just gonna live life.’
“And that’s just exhibitions. I’m gonna break all my professional true records with exhibitions.”

No progress, however, has been made with either potential barnburner.
Brixton bruiser Whyte is champing at the bit to get back at following his knockout victory over Alexander Povetkin in March.
Ortiz, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since his first-round KO of Alexander Flores last November.

When asked if he’d happily replace Tyson Fury – who recently contracted Covid – he told RoundByRoundBoxing.com: “Heck yeah. Call me right up.
“That’s exactly why we’re staying in the gym and staying ready. If they’re looking my way come and bring it I’m ready.”
Ruiz Jr, 31, turned in a less than impressive display against Arreola in his first outing since losing his December 2019 rematch with Joshua.
And the Mexican-American was brutally ridiculed by Whyte, who told iFL TV: These guys make me laugh man.
“These guys saying this about me, saying that about me – and you can’t stop Chris Arreola.
“I thought Chris Arreola won the fight to be honest, I had Chris Arreola winning by split decision.

“And I’m not just saying that because I don’t like that guy.
“If I fight Chris Arreola tomorrow I’d knock Chris Arreola out in five rounds.
“That’s what I should do, I should just go to America and fight Chris Arreola.
“Just to knock him out, to show Adam Kownacki and Andy Ruiz that they’re garbage and they need to take my name out their mouth.

In a Twitter video, he said: “Hey there, this is Tyson Fury, AKA The Gypsy King.

Fury caught Covid after declining to get his second jab for fear of getting sick ahead of the fight.
The Gypsy King’s co-promoter Bob Arum said: “He’s fine with it.
“He got vaccinated in Miami. He got the first shot.
“And then he said he didn’t wanna get the second shot because he didn’t wanna get sick [from the vaccination] so close to the fight. So, he got Covid instead.”
It’s understood Fury vs Wilder III – which was due to take place at the T-Mobile Arena – is currently in the works for October.
Fan favourite Fury hasn’t set foot inside the ring since his emphatic dethroning of former WBC champ Wilder last February.

And co-promoter Frank Warren has lamented the Brit’s delayed return to the squared circle.
He told BT Sport: “It’s looking some time in October, which is a great shame it’s been postponed, but it is what it is.

Anthony Joshua called out by Carlos Takam, who says ‘there is unfinished business’ after 2017 loss which ‘still hurts’

CARLOS TAKAM said he has ‘unfinished business’ with Anthony Joshua after his 2017 loss, which ‘still hurts’. Takam filled in on ten days notice four years ago to replace Kubrat Pulev, who pulled out injured.

And he lasted ten rounds in Cardiff, before the referee stopped the fight while the Cameroonian-born French heavyweight was still on his feet.
Takam has since fought five times – losing to only Derek Chisora – and faces Joe Joyce, 35, on his return on July 24.
But he has made it clear Joshua is still within his sights having also missed on a the chance to challenge Oleksandr Usyk.
Takam, 40, said: “The story between Joshua and me is not finished. There is unfinished business with Joshua. That fight still hurts me.
“I took that fight at ten days’ notice. The referee stopped the fight and I don’t know why. Nobody ever told me.
“I was also meant to fight Usyk twice, but it never happened and he didn’t want me.”
Joshua, 31, incidentally faces Usyk in his next fight in September in London, having been ordered to do so by the WBO.
Joyce was in line to meet the Ukrainian mandatory challenger, 34, for the WBO ‘interim’ title, while AJ and Tyson Fury unified the division.

But instead, Fury, 32, was ordered to fight Deontay Wilder, 35, in a trilogy bout after the American won their arbitration case.
It left Joshua forced to face Usyk, with Joyce’s road to the title also delayed.
He said: “I have had tough tests throughout my career so why stop?
“This is a great fight. Takam brings an all-action fight and it is going to be a good one. I want to give the fans what they want to see.
“This will lead on to some better fights, but I am not overlooking him.”

Tyson Fury’s delayed trilogy with Deontay Wilder a ‘concern’ for Gypsy King after positive Covid test nixes July 24 bout

TYSON FURY will be more affected by the delay of his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder than his American foe, according to Carl Froch. The WBC heavyweight champion was forced to postpone his Las Vegas showdown with The Bronze Bomber after catching Covid-19.

A new date for the bout – which was due to take place a week on Sunday – has not been officially announced, although it is understood the pair’s third meeting will likely take place in October.
Fury and Wilder haven’t set foot inside the ring since their rematch last February, but former super-middleweight king Froch believes The Gypsy King will be more affected by the postponement.
The Cobra told Sky Sports: “I was really disappointed with the postponement because it’s a fight that I was looking forward to.
“Even though it seemed like it would be a one-sided fight for Fury, you can never ever just write any man off when he’s a huge puncher like Wilder.
“This delay is definitely going to hurt Fury more.
“They have both been out of the ring for the same amount of time, but Wilder is still going to be hungry, he’s got a point to prove.
“He’s been absolutely ridiculed and written off by loads of people. He’s been abused really on social media for a long time.
“I think Wilder is going to be like a man on fire, training for this fight, whereas Fury fought him the first time when he wasn’t in shape and still got a draw.

“Then in the rematch he absolutely battered him.
“It was a one-sided whooping, so Fury could be thinking, ‘Do I really need this?’
“He’ll know he can get knocked out by Wilder, so that will make him train hard, but I think this delay is more of a concern for Fury than it is for Wilder.”
Froch, 44, is still picking Fury to win his third encounter with the Olympic bronze medallist.
He added: “Based on that second performance that Fury put on against Wilder, the way in which he got his range and his distance,
“I just think he’s got Wilder’s number and should win again when the fight eventually happens.
“Fury used his height and reach and his weight advantage, and he’s a natural fighter.

“The only chance that Wilder has got is to clip him, if Fury is not focused.
“But I don’t think Fury will be switched off, so I would still pick Fury, possibly on points or even another stoppage.”
Fury registered a seventh-round TKO victory over Wilder in their last meeting but plans to better the impressive Sin City stoppage.
He said: “Deontay Wilder is a one-trick pony. He’s got one-punch power, we all know that – great.
“But what I’m going to do to Deontay Wilder this time is I’m going to run him over as if I’m an 18-wheeler and he’s a human being.
“I guarantee he does not go past where he did before [the seventh round].” More
