Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel facing ANOTHER hefty fine and touchline ban after second charge following Tottenham chaos

THOMAS TUCHEL has been handed a SECOND FA charge for his reactions to the derby draw with Spurs.Chelsea chief Tuchel has already lodged an appeal against the one-match touchline ban and £35,000 fine imposed for his part in the post-match dust-up with Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.

But now the German faces a huge fine after being accused of accusing referee Anthony Taylor of being biased against the Blues.
In his post-match interviews, Tuchel was asked if Taylor should not take charge of Chelsea matches again and said: “Maybe it would be better.”
Chelsea fans voiced their indignation and asked about those opinions, he added: “I don’t think that just some of the fans think that.
“I can assure you that the whole dressing room of us, every person thinks that.

“Not only the fans. You know the players, they know what’s going on when they are on the pitch. They know it.”
The FA launched a formal investigation last Monday and Wembley chiefs have now confirmed: “Thomas Tuchel has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to comments that he made after Chelsea FC’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur FC on Sunday 14 August 2022.
“It is alleged that the manager’s comments in his post-match press conference constitute improper conduct as contrary to FA Rule E3.1 they imply bias and/or question the integrity of the match referee, and/or bring the game into disrepute.
“Thomas Tuchel has until Thursday 25 August 2022 to provide a response to this charge.”

Tuchel’s appeal against his initial fine and ban will be heard before Saturday’s home game with Leicester with the expectation the penalty will be confirmed.
The new charge is more likely to result in a fine than a ban – although a suspension is a potential outcome.
But confirmation of what appeared inevitable as soon as Tuchel opened his mouth will only serve to cause him more frustration as he attempts to come to terms with Sunday’s thrashing at Leeds. More

Chelsea verdict: Tuchel looks like he wants more after Conte row but Marsch stuns him into silence with Leeds mauling

THE HANDSHAKE this time was merely frosty.Made on the move by Thomas Tuchel to Jesse Marsch as he headed to the Elland Road tunnel.
Thomas Tuchel cut a dejected figure as Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by LeedsCredit: Reuters
Leeds boss Marsch seemed to flip his hand, as if to say he wasn’t bothered by the rather dismissive nature that surrounded the after match tradition on this occasion.
Tuchel began the afternoon full of the fire and brimstone he usually brings to Premier League touchlines.
By the end he was just a smouldering presence doused by the crashing wave of emotion that filled Elland Road and translated itself to the Leeds players.
In the opposite technical area it was Marsch all whirling dervish, getting his players, the crowd everyone going.

A star spangled display from an underestimated coach who is doing some special things with this club at the moment – seven points from three games and it should be nine.
He wasn’t going to be intimidated by his opposite number Tuchel nor his players by their opponents on the pitch.

After the furious bust up between the Chelsea boss and Tottenham’s Antonio Conte last weekend, Tuchel looked like he wanted more.
There was just seven minutes on the clock in fact when he took offence at Marsch waving an imaginary card in the referee’s direction.

The Leeds boss wanted a booking for Ruben Loftus Cheek after his hefty barge into Pascal Struijk.
Tuchel went towards him mocking his card waving motion, the fourth official had to make sure the incident did not escalate.
Perhaps the frustration from the previous weekend had not gone away.
After all his Chelsea side had dominated Tottenham for a good hour of their London derby.
They were excellent, and Spurs were lucky to get something out of it.
    SPURRED ON
The chance for maximum points from their first two games snatched from Chelsea’s grasp in the sixth minute of injury time by Harry Kane.
Maybe that took more out of his team and himself than he could have estimated.
In a recent interview Brighton boss Graham Potter said it took him 48 hours to recover from a Premier League game.
It makes you wonder how long Tuchel has to spend lying in a dark room after occasions like last weekend and Stamford Bridge.
The problem is that this afternoon will be keeping him awake for a good few days given the nature in which his team lost.
    LEEDING THEM ON
Indeed through most of the second-half the manager reflected his team, as they so often can – he looked beaten.
Chelsea have better players than Leeds, but Leeds really wanted this.
Sir Alex Ferguson used to tell his team when up against inferior opposition that if they match them for fight their superior talent would win the day.
Chelsea didn’t, too easily bullied out the game.
Without a recognised striker, the few chances created were wasted.
Only in injury time did Tuchel snap back into full Tuchel ranting at the fourth official about a challenge.

It was all too late. The game had long gone.
A shaking of hands soon became a shaking of Marsch’s fists towards an ecstatic Elland Road crowd. More

And the intense pressing from Jesse Marsch’s Leeds side proved too much for Chelsea to handle.

And did anyone have a game to forget?
Here, SunSport’s Anthony Chapman delivers his Chelsea player ratings…
    READ MORE SUN STORIES
    EDOUARD MENDY – 2
Shocking decision to dawdle on ball led to Leeds opener and was nowhere near saving the second or third.
Has been out of sorts for around six months and is starting to become a major concern for fans.
    REECE JAMES – 4
Kept in the back three by Tuchel but needs to return to wing-back ASAP.
Could not contain Rodrigo at free-kick as Spaniard headed home Leeds’ second and deep defensive position nullified attacking threat.

    THIAGO SILVA – 5
Steady without doing anything special, which made him one of the team’s better performers.
Struggled to motivate teammates and looked a bit exposed when shape switch to a back four.
    KALIDOU KOULIBALY – 4
Definitely a ball-playing defender… as was caught flat-footed by speedy Leeds several times.
Put in one or two hefty tackles and ended up with a red card late on.

    RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK – 4
Swiftly becoming a regular under Tuchel and tried using frame to cause an issue on flanks.
However, he overplayed the ball several times to hinder the side’s progression in final third.
Jorginho failed to inspire in central midfieldCredit: Getty
    JORGINHO – 3
Chelsea’s most senior midfielder with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic out.
But failed to step up as Blues suffered from lack of leadership in heart of side.
    CONOR GALLAGHER – 4
Rewarded for development with first-ever Chelsea start but occasion was too big.
Struggled to retain possession and would be better suited to a more advanced role.
    MARC CUCURELLA – 5
It takes some doing to keep a fit Ben Chilwell benched for two straight games.
Tried to make an impact at both ends of field but quality touch was severely lacking.
    MASON MOUNT – 4
Had a decent shot early on but struggled to impose himself as game went on.
A few more clinical decisions could have resulted in goal and maybe needs to be tried in new role.
Kai Havertz was anonymous up front for the BluesCredit: Reuters
    KAI HAVERTZ – 3
Needs to prove he is worthy of becoming Chelsea’s main attacker.
Goes missing when most needed and nobody is still able to figure out his best position.
    RAHEEM STERLING – 5
Needless foul gave Leeds free-kick which directly resulted in second goal.
But produced some decent dribbles and was Chelsea’s only real threat with ball at feet.
    SUBS
    Christian Pulisic (for Gallagher, 64’) – 4
Absolutely no impact in his 26 minutes on the pitch.
    Hakim Ziyech (for Jorginho, 64’) – 4
Like Pulisic, would hardly have known he was playing.
    Ben Chilwell (for Mount, 77’) – N/A
Cesar Azpilicueta (for Sterling, 86′) – N/A More

The Red Devils have agreed a stunning £70million deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
The switch will see United’s spending soar to £131.2m this summer.
And it means a whopping £1.54bn has now been spent by Premier League clubs this window.
That’s a great deal more than the previous record of £1.43bn, which was splurged in 2017.

But with just under a fortnight left, and clubs still in the hunt for deals, the gap could increase even further.
Chelsea are the biggest spenders so far with £179.1m.
The Blues splashed £47.5m on Raheem Sterling, plus a further £33m on Kalidou Koulibaly and £62m on Marc Cucurella.
Todd Boehly’s new club are being tipped to spend even more, with Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – plus Wesley Fofana – in their sights.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest have paid over £140m to boost their squad with SIXTEEN new players.
Arsenal are on £112m thanks to deals for the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
And West Ham are also in the top five after reinforcing their attack and defence.
Meanwhile, the likes of Man City and Liverpool have spent heavily on marquee signings.
City paid over £51m for Erling Haaland, while Liverpool spent £85m on Darwin Nunez.
Elsewhere, Newcastle have had a fairly quiet window despite their Saudi riches, spending just under £57m on new signings.
As for Leicester, they are yet to drop one single penny on new signings.
But there’s still plenty of time for that to change for the Foxes.

Indeed, almost every side is likely to have at least one more signing in their sights before deadline day.
However, it could take a major spending effort for the total summer figure to hit the £2bn mark. More

Roman Abramovich used to text former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti a question mark whenever the Blues lost

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH used to look to former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti for guidance when things weren’t going so well. The former Blues owner appointed the Italian in 2009 and he went on to win the double before being axed two years later.
Roman Abramovich and Carlo Ancelotti exchanged extremely brief text messages
Abramovich would send Ancelotti a question mark
Ancelotti is still highly regarded among Blues staff and supporters.
And it is has been revealed that he remained in contact with Abramovich and the pair shared text messages over the team’s struggles.
Sky Italia journalist Fabio Caressa said: “Ancelotti told me that Abramovich also texted him, always the same, especially in times when things were not going well.
“He only sent him a question mark.
“Instead he, the genius that is Carlo, answered him only with an exclamation mark.”

During that time, Ancelotti oversaw a 1-0 Toffees win over Chelsea at Goodison Park.

‘Can you pull hair out?’ – Chelsea ace Thiago Silva blasts referee Anthony Taylor for missing Romero’s foul on Cucurella

CHELSEA star Thiago Silva has blasted Anthony Taylor after the official’s controversial performance in Sunday’s draw with Spurs. The referee had a match he may wish to forget as he allowed Cristian Romero to viciously yank Marc Cucurella’s hair just moments before Harry Kane’s last-gasp equaliser at Stamford Bridge.

Silva was incensed Taylor did not think there was a foul by Cristian Romero on Marc Cucurella
Taylor let Tottenham get away with numerous fouls throughout the game despite immediately booking Chelsea players for similar tackles.
And he was also at fault for Spurs’ opener when failing to blow for Rodrigo Bentancur’s foul on Kai Havertz – before missing the offside Richarlison blocking Edouard Mendy’s view of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s goal.
Chelsea fan favourite Silva has now taken to social media to blast one decision in particular.
As the Blues defended a corner at the end of the game, Tottenham centre-back Romero grabbed hold of Cucurella’s hair before yanking hard and pulling the Chelsea star to the floor.

Replays showed Taylor staring right at the event, but the ref failed to blow his whistle for a foul and instead allowed Spurs a corner.
Predictably, the North Londoners scored the next set-piece with just seconds left on the clock, sparking a late melee between Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte.
But Silva wasn’t going to let Taylor forget his horrendous mistake in a post on Instagram.

Livid Chelsea fans have now started a petition to try and stop Taylor from refereeing any more of their games.
The official has history with the Blues, denying them numerous game-changing moments over the past several seasons.
Boss Tuchel said after the game that he and his players also feel the same way as the Chelsea fans.
He declared: “I don’t think that just some of the fans think that: I can assure you that the whole dressing room of us, every person thinks that.
“Not only the fans. You know the players, they know what’s going on when they are on the pitch. They know it.
“I cannot understand how the first goal is not offside and I cannot understand since when players can pull other people’s hair and stay on the pitch and attack in the last corner.

“This, for me, is without any explanation and I don’t want to accept it.
“I have no words for it. I am curious what the explanation is for that but both goals should not stand and then it’s a fair result. We were brilliant and we deserved to win.” More

“The starting point was zero. It was terrifying and exciting”, says Blues boss Hayes as she reflects on Chelsea reign

EMMA HAYES reckons ‘brain fog’ may have dimmed recollections of some of her earliest moments at the helm of Chelsea. But the Blues boss, 45, who marks her tenth year in charge of the WSL champs tomorrow has vivid memories of her first week and having no staff or office.
Emma Hayes has led Chelsea to 12 major trophy wins since taking charge of the club ten years agoCredit: Getty
The Camden-born head coach, who helped revolutionise the women’s game in England, recalls the initial sparse set-up when she took the job.
A far cry from the investment that came eight years later, when the club broke the world transfer record for a women’s player, signing Pernille Harder from Wolfsburg for a fee reportedly in excess of £250,000.
    A decade ago, Hayes’s role was part-time.
The Kingsmeadow gaffer juggled her managerial career with a job in her family’s currency exchange business Covent Garden FX.
And Chelsea’s players were part-time too with their boss the only female manager in the league at the time.

Hayes, who previously worked as Arsenal assistant coach and then manager of US club Chicago Red Stars, said: “The starting point was zero, and that was both terrifying and exciting all at once.
“My brain fog means that everything gets a little bit harder to remember.
“But my overwhelming (memory) is getting off a train at Cobham walking in a gate that led me straight onto to the training ground.
“I was then walking down the path all the way down to this building that I’d been to once before when I was the academy director and coach at Arsenal and brought my academy team here.
“I remember looking at it and thought ‘oh my goodness, what potential.’
“And then the realisation of ‘what do you mean we don’t have an office? What do you mean there are no full-time players or staff?’

“There wasn’t a single member of staff that worked for the women’s section, let alone had an office, let alone had a desk or a filing cabinet.
“They are my overriding memories and then watching the team play and thinking ‘oh my God, this is a million miles from what I’ve just come from.
“The gulf was so big from coming from Women’s Professional Soccer in the USA to here.”
In Hayes’s first year Chelsea were a different outfit to the trophy-winning juggernauts they are today, finishing second from bottom in the top tier in 2013.
A league finish light years away from the serial-winning force the club has become under their gaffer.
Under Hayes, the team have since won 12 major trophies – including five WSL titles – and reached their first Champions League final last May.

The first of their silverware wins under Hayes was an FA Cup in 2015 followed by the league crown later.
Among the figures who have played a key role in Chelsea’s evolution under Hayes is Paul Green.
The former Rotherham United player became the Blues’ general manager in February 2013 following a seven-year stint at Doncaster Rovers Belles.
In 2018 before Chelsea’s 3-1 FA Cup triumph against Arsenal Hayes said her general manager “had been a part of putting this team together as much as” she had.
Reflecting on the meeting that would lead to the Blues hiring Green, Hayes said: “I remember I went to an end-of-season awards do at a hotel in Covent Garden that I wasn’t going to go to.
Blues general manager Paul Green has played a key role in Chelsea’s evolution under Hayes
“I happened to be at work in the currency business and I walked past there.
“My assistant at the time said pop in and have a drink and I thought I don’t know
“And as I walked in, I remember seeing some players and I thought recruitment!
“If I’m honest, recruitment’s my thing, and I remember making a beeline from Rachel Williams and as I did this man walked across her, his name was Paul Green.
“And he said ‘Hi, I want to introduce myself, I’m Paul Green, here’s my number, I would like to come and work for you at Chelsea.
“And at that point I was like, you’re in the way, and that was it. Then Paul came on board two months later.”
Chelsea’s squad now includes four European Championship-winning players in Fran Kirby, Jess Carter, Beth England and vice-captain Millie Bright who this week sealed a three-year contract extension.
Emma Hayes’ tenth anniversary in charge of the WSL champions comes in a week in which Millie Bright signed a new three-year contract with the clubCredit: Getty
Hayes added: “I’m super proud of them. What an amazing experience they had. I’m just happy for them to experience more winning.
“And I would say those four players are used to winning so it’s not unusual for them.”
England’s Euros final defeat of Germany in front of an 87,192-strong Wembley crowd – the largest of any Euros match men’s or women’s – has been described as a turning point for women’s football on these shores.
A moment that Hayes, among the influential figures who have fought hard for the sport’s professionalisation, has dreamt of seeing.
It was a victory that brought tears to the Chelsea chief’s eyes.
I think we’ve now entered that phase of women’s football becoming a business. Emma Hayes
And she hopes the legacy of England’s triumph will be the women’s professional game becoming a business.
Hayes said: “That (Euros) win if it didn’t open the eyes of the Premier League, it will do now.
“I’m a big advocate of that because if 86,000 people are paying for tickets for that and it could have sold out two or three times over, the appetite is there.
“And I think we’ve now entered that phase of women’s football becoming a business.
“In 2019 there was no broadcasting deal (for the WSL).
“There certainly weren’t regular appearances in your men’s side’s stadium or regular slots on TV plus some of the best players in the world.
“The growth of the domestic game – that is the legacy.
“The next step is the league leaving the FA and going to the Premier League or an independent body and that there is a vision around the women’s game, so we don’t just have single big moments once every two years or once a year.”
A fourth consecutive league crown is among the prizes Chelsea will be chasing during their boss’s tenth year in charge.
The team open their WSL campaign on Sunday 11 September with a lunchtime Stamford Bridge clash with West Ham.
Their opponents will play their first league game with Paul Konchesky at the helm.

With the Irons among the WSL sides who have strengthened their ranks with quality signings this summer, competition in the top tier this term will be fierce.
Hayes said: “I’ve always said I think it’s harder to have back-to-back (title) wins let alone three years in a row.
“We know it’s going to be tougher than ever, but I’m more prepared than ever.” More
