West Ham’s new signing Said Benrahma insists some of his transfer fee be given to Brentford staff as a bonus

SAID BENRAHMA has given a generous parting gift to staff at Brentford after finalising a dramatic deadline day transfer to West Ham.
The ex-Bees winger is waiving part of a loyalty bonus he reportedly expected to receive, asking for it to be given to 100 club workers instead.

And Brentford officials have praised the Algeria international for opting to reward staff who aided his two-year stint in the Championship.
Phil Giles, the Bees director of football said: “Saïd has been a brilliant player for Brentford over the past two-and a-bit seasons.
“Thomas and I told him exactly that when we met him on Wednesday morning.

“As part of that conversation, Saïd suggested, and we agreed, that some money should be used as a reward for club staff, many of whom have had a direct influence on Saïd’s development during his time here and who have done a superb job in difficult circumstances in the last few months.
“We are happy with the agreement reached and this makes it a nice end to a good transfer window for the Club.”
The completion of Benrahma’s £4million loan move to West Ham, who play Tottenham on Sunday, went right up to the deadline day wire amid reports of a failed medical.
It is thought a permanent deal was in play until some issues were flagged during a routine check by the Hammers’ medics.

However, an agreement with an obligation to buy for an initial £21m rising to £26m is now in place between Brentford and West Ham.

And Benrahma is expected to sign a five-year deal with David Moyes’s side after his season-long loan.
The pacy winger enjoyed a successful career at Brentford as one of the Championship side’s most prolific attackers last term.
The Algerian, who moved to the Bees from French side Nice in 2018, netted 17 goals in 46 appearances helping them reach the Championship play-off finals.

Jurgen Klopp had initially planned to keep young winger Elliott at the Reds, according to the Athletic.
But after they crashed out the League Cup to Arsenal and Xherdan Shaqiri decided to stay, the German is said to have had a change of heart.
And with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, new signing Diogo Jota and Divock Origi in front of him in the pecking order, Elliott would have struggled for game time.

Former Fulham man Elliott is said to be relishing the chance to prove what he is capable of at Championship level.
Elliott’s fellow youngster Wilson has also left for the season – joining Championship side Cardiff.
Swansea, Reading, Bristol City and Derby had all been linked with a move for the 23-year-old who spent last season at Bournemouth.
But the Bluebirds have won the race for his signature, with Wilson citing the ‘Welsh connection’ as a big reason for his move.

On completing the deal, Wilson claimed: “The Welsh connection was a massive part for me.

“I’m determined to come here and do my best to help the club get there.”
It is understood that a fee of £1.2million has been agreed between the two clubs.
And finally Wales international Woodburn, 21, has been loaned to Blackpool where he links up with former Reds academy coach Neil Critchley who is the Tangerines’ manager.

Burnley came close to completing a deal for him, but pulled the plug at the last minute.
Liverpool demanded a £20m deal for the Welshman to leave on a permanent basis.
And the Clarets were not prepared to pay that much for him.
Wilson had struggled to break into Jurgen Klopp’s squad, but managed to prove his potential last season while on loan with Bournemouth.
He chipped in with seven goals after making 31 appearances for the Cherries.
In the 2018-19 season, Wilson was shipped out on loan to Derby.
During his time under the management of Frank Lampard, he bagged 18 goals in all competitions.

Tottenham sign Joe Rodon in deadline-day transfer after snapping up talented Welsh youngster

TOTTENHAM have completed their move for Swansea defender Joe Rodon.
The North London side have been locked in talks hoping to convince the Swans to lower their £18million asking price.

And Jose Mourinho has finally got his man after having a £7m bid for the Wales international rejected by the Championship club two weeks ago.
The Swans insisted they valued the 22-year-old at £18m and have been holding out hoping to get top price for the centre-back.

But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was reluctant to go to that price.

He has already splashed out big this summer bringing in Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty.
Levy was hoping to agree a package which sees an up-front payment in the region of £10m with further instalments of £5m.
The centre-half is regarded as one of the best talents outside the top flight.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants to strengthen his options in the centre of his defence after Jan Vertonghen left North London at the end of last season.

Should the two clubs find an agreement over the next few hours then it is unlikely personal terms would be an issue to sort out.

Tottenham in talks to sign Joe Rodon in deadline-day transfer but trying to lower Swansea’s asking price to £15m

TOTTENHAM are hoping to get Swansea to lower their price for Joe Rodon to £15million.
The North London side want to seal a deadline-day deal for the defender.

Spurs saw a £7m bid for the Wales international rejected by the Championship club two weeks ago.
But they still retain hope of reaching an agreement before the 5pm cut-off today.
The Swans have insisted they value the 22-year-old at £18m and have been holding out hoping to get top price for the centre-back.

But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to go to that price.
He has already splashed out big this summer bringing in Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty.
Levy would prefer to come up with a package which sees an up-front payment in the region of £10m with further instalments of £5m.
Spurs believe that will be enough to tempt Swansea into doing a deal now for Rodon.

The centre-half is regarded as one of the best talents outside the top flight.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants to strengthen his options in the centre of his defence after Jan Vertonghen left North London at the end of last season.

Liverpool looking to offload five players before transfer window closes on Friday including Harry Wilson

LIVERPOOL are looking to offload as many as five players before the domestic transfer window closes today, reports say.
Harry Wilson could be one of those on the move as Jurgen Klopp looks to trim down his squad ahead of this weekend’s huge Merseyside derby.

Although the winger did feature in the Reds’ Carabao Cup defeat against Arsenal earlier this month, he is not seen as part of the manager’s plans and could be one of a handful shown the door before the 5pm deadline today.
The others at risk include Ben Woodburn, Herbie Kane, Nat Phillips and Liam Millar, according to the Express.
Wilson’s asking price is reportedly around the £20million mark, but no club has yet to meet that valuation.
This is despite the cue of Championship teams interested in the 23-year-old.

They include Cardiff, who have emerged this morning as the favourite to acquire his services in a loan deal.
The Welsh club appear to have nipped ahead of their rivals Swansea who yesterday were positioning themselves to pounce.
Derby and Nottingham Forest are also believed to be involved in the tug of war.
The interest in Wilson comes after an impressive loan spell with Bournemouth.

Young Welshman Woodburn has also been linked with a move away from Anfield.
The attacker, who turned 21 yesterday, was rumoured last month to be heading to Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.
Midfielder Kane is set to leave permanently, according to the Liverpool Echo, with Barnsley close to securing his signature.
Phillips and Millar are also rumoured to be catching the eye of Championship clubs in what is set to be a busy day of departures.

The Reds have already managed to clear out some fringe players this window.
They include forgotten man Nathaniel Clyne, who was picked up by Crystal Palace on a free yesterday.
Loris Karius has also gone out on loan, while Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have left permanently.

Jack Butland set for deadline day transfer to Crystal Palace – reuniting Stoke star with ex-England boss Hodgson

JACK Butland looks to be on his way to Crystal Palace with the Stoke outcast set for a reunion with his old Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson.
The Eagles, currently twelfth in the Prem, are due to put in an offer for the former Birmingham stopper before today’s transfer deadline, according to the Daily Mail.

Butland, once regarded as the golden boy of goalkeeping and a potential England No1, has battled with injuries and form in recent years.

And in July he lost his starting place for Stoke’s final four games of the season following a 5-0 drubbing by Leeds.
He is yet to make an appearance for them this season and is looking to move on, while Stoke are thought to be ready to let him go in a last-minute move.

Butland was this week rumoured to be a shock transfer target for Liverpool before being linked with Hodgson’s Crystal Palace.
The Potters stopper earned four of his nine England caps during Hodgson’s reign as Three Lions boss.
The Eagles manager believes his former protege has the talent to rival Vicente Guaita for Palace’s No1 spot.
The former England star hit the headlines during his time at Birmingham City after making his senior national debut aged just 19, becoming the Three Lions’ youngest goalkeeper.

The Bristol-born player, 27, has been loaned out four times since his £3.5million switch from Brum to the Potters in 2013.
His loan spells include stints at Barnsley, Leeds, Birmingham and Derby County.

Butland made the drop to the Championship with Stoke when they were relegated from the Prem in 2018.
Spaniard Guiata has started all Palace’s Premier League games this season ahead of Wayne Hennessey.
The former Getafe stopper, 33, has conceded seven goals and looks set to start when Palace host rivals Brighton at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
