How Chelsea could line up vs Dinamo Zagreb in Champions League with Aubameyang in line for debut but no Thiago Silva

CHELSEA get their Champions League campaign underway away at Dinamo Zagreb tomorrow. And it could see a debut for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his deadline-day move from Barcelona.

Denis Zakaria and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could both make their debuts on TuesdayCredit: Getty
However, the Gabon ace may need to wait for his chance as he is unlikely to be ready to start in Croatia.
Aubameyang damaged his jaw when burglars raided his home in Barcelona last week and sat in the stands at the weekend.
Instead, Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount look likely to support Kai Havertz in the Chelsea attack.
Mount and Havertz both came off the bench in the victory over West Ham on Saturday, with the German scoring the late winner.

However, it was Ben Chilwell who was the key man in the Stamford Bridge comeback with a goal and an assist after coming on.
So the ex-Leicester defender may well be preferred at left-wing back over Marc Cucurella.
Reece James will surely keep his place on the other side, fresh from signing his new contract, with plenty of options in midfield.
N’Golo Kante has not travelled due to his hamstring injury so it could be a midfield two of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jorginho.

Thomas Tuchel could, however, easily go for a three-man midfield with Conor Gallagher, Mateo Kovacic, Carney Chukwuemeka and even loanee Denis Zakaria all possible options.
The Juventus star has got his work permit sorted so is clear to play and therefore travelled alongside Aubameyang on the flight to Zagreb.
In defence Thiago Silva is unavailable so, should it be a back three, it will likely be Trevoh Chalobah, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana.
Cesar Azpilicueta may be involved on the right side of defence while Edouard Mendy may be fearing for his place in goal after a series of recent blunders – although he somehow got away with the latest fluff against the Hammers.
And should Aubameyang make a surprise start, he would likely lead the line as the new No9.

Christian Pulisic got the nod on Saturday in attack and may well be the most likely to break into the front three again on Tuesday ahead of Hakim Ziyech and Armando Broja to support Auba.
Dinamo Zagreb have made a flying start to the Croatian top flight with seven wins and draw from their first eight games – opening up an eight-point gap at the top of the table.

Uefa rule change will see players and managers facing bookings for waving imaginary cards at referees

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE players and bosses face booking for waving “imaginary” cards as part of a Uefa clampdown on player misbehaviour this season.Uefa refs’ chief Roberto Rosetti has demanded officials deal out swift punishment for any incidents of “mobbing of referees, mass confrontation between players and dissent by players and coaches”.

Players have been warned they WILL be booked for diving or exaggerating the impact of small fouls.
But Uefa is also determined to try to stop players putting pressure on refs to book or dismiss opponents – especially when they are conning officials over what actually happened.
And referees, including England’s World Cup-bound Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor, have been urged to “take firm sanctions” against players who try to con them into giving yellow or red cards to opponents.
Rosetti said: “When a player tries to get another player punished, it’s unfair for football.

“It represents unfair conduct by players against their colleagues – a bad example of disrespectful behaviour.”
The instruction from Rosetti is part of Uefa’s determination to “protect football’s image”.
Euro chiefs want punishment for players who “attempt deception through acts of simulation or by over-reacting to light-contact fouls”.
Rosetti said: “We don’t want to see these things in the game.

“We are determined to protect the image of football, and we consider certain types of behaviour on the field and on the benches to be unacceptable.”
Uefa is also introducing the new “semi-automated offside technology” – with special cameras tracking 29 body parts of all players and a sensor in the ball.
That will come in from the start of the Champions League group stage on Tuesday. More

Supercomputer predicts Champions League winner with Chelsea outsiders despite transfer splurge and Real Madrid just 10/1

A SUPERCOMPUTER has predicted what club will have the honour of lifting this years Champions League trophy. And according to the supercomputer, it will be Manchester City who will claim their first ever title despite Chelsea splashing the cash this summer.

Chelsea are only seventh favourites despite splashing over £250m on new signingsCredit: Getty
Chelsea are the Premier League’s highest spenders, having splashed out £255.3million on new arrivals this summer including deadline day deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria.
However, the data collected by sports betting app SBK indicates Chelsea are the least likely team from England to win the trophy.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have been given odds of 19/1, worse than Man City’s 14/5, Liverpool’s 6/1 and even Tottenham Hotspur’s 18/1.
It goes without saying Chelsea have started the season poorly, with another lacklustre defeat against Southampton meaning they have collected just seven points from their first five league games.

European counterparts Paris Saint-Germain could have something to say about it as well though, with the Parisians second favourites to win the competition.
It has been a big summer of change for them, with seven players brought in to bolster their ranks and a great deal more shipped out either on loan or via transfer.
Last year’s champions Real Madrid are not predicted to repeat their feat and win title number 15 – with the loss of Casemiro to Manchester United set to detrimentally impact them – as they sit below Bayern Munich for fifth and fourth respectively.
A rejuvenated Barcelona are also not predicted to make any waves this year, ranking below every English team with odds of 20/1.

Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and both Milan clubs are the only other outfits whose odds do not eclipse 100.
Scottish Champions Celtic are predicted to come third in their group, while Rangers are predicted to finish bottom of Group A despite their heroics against PSV.
In fact, every English team is expected to win their group according to the supercomputer’s calculations.
The first games for this year’s Champions League will kick off next Tuesday, with Chelsea one of two early kick-offs and Manchester City kicking off with a visit to La Liga outfit Sevilla. More
