It happened last December, when the Australian keeper was playing for Melbourne City in a local derby against Melbourne Victory.
Glover, who joined Championship strugglers Boro earlier this summer, still bears a scar from the assault.
Melbourne magistrates court sentenced Victory fan Alex Agelopoulos to three months in prison after he pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
The trial heard he attacked Glover, 25, with the sand-filled bucket during a pitch invasion.

“This will forever be remembered for the harm that was caused.
“Tom Glover is now wary every time he steps onto the pitch.”
Agelopoulos, nicknamed Bucket Man by Aussie media, was freed on bail after an appeal but will go on trial once more in December.

Sydney were losing 1-0 to Wellington when the first of the two penalties was awarded in the fifth minute of added time for a handball from Tim Payne.
Le Fondre stepped up to take the spot kick, but his powerful strike was saved by goalkeeper Oliver Sail.
Commentator Simon Hill, who had deemed the decision to award the penalty as “controversial”, claimed that “justice had been done” when Sail made the fantastic stop.
But, just a few seconds after Le Fondre’s strike, Sydney were awarded ANOTHER penalty for a handball from Callan Elliot.

Le Fondre stepped up once again to take the kick, but this time he fired his shot wide.
The striker immediately dropped to his knees and put his head in his hands after missing both game-changing opportunities.
Wellington went on to win the game 1-0 thanks to Oskar Zawada’s early goal and Sail’s heroics despite the fact they had two men – Nicholas Pennington and Bozhidar Kraev – sent off during the second half.
It was the club’s first time defeating Sydney since 2018.

After the game, Wellington manager Ufuk Talay said: “Do we want to play with nine men every game? No we don’t but in this case we’ve had to deal with this situation and the boys came up trumps.
“I thought the boys showed fantastic character to get through that (drama) and we walked away with the three points.”
Wellington now sit sixth in the A-League, just one point above Sydney in 8th. More

Davila was shipped out on loan to Vitesse, Sabadell, Cordoba, Tenerife and Vitoria before making a permanent switch to Santos Laguna in his homeland in 2015.

Davila then had two seasons in New Zealand with Wellington Phoenix, during which time their son Uli Jr was born in March 2020.
However, travel restrictions and separation meant he could not see his wife or baby except through FaceTime before they were able to move to join him in 2021.

There were a number of ex-EFL stars on show, including former Chesterfield star Jay O’Shea who partnered Rodwell in the middle of the park.
Former Watford defender Adrian Mariappa also started as well as ex-Shrewsbury striker Jason Cummings.
Despite the gulf in quality the A-League XI ran Barcelona close, even though Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring to give his side a 1-0 lead at half-time.
But the Australian side hit back after the break with two quick-fire goals from Reno Piscopo and Adama Traore.
