Tyson Fury sparring partner David Adeleye wipes floor on heavyweight return as officials clean ring and refs wear masks

TYSON FURY’S sparring partner David Adeleye wiped the floor with Matt Gordon on British boxing’s heavyweight return.
The sweet science returned to TV screens from a sterilised BT Sport studio, with officials spraying the ring between bouts, referees wearing masks and not a fan in sight.

David Adeleye scored a stoppage win on heavyweight boxing’s return

Referees had to wear masks as they officiated bouts

Officials clean the ring as David Haye provided punditry in the BT studio

Adeleye, 23, took his London rival Gordon out in two brutal rounds to take his record to 2-0.
And now he is free to impersonate Deontay Wilder again as the Gypsy King prepare for this year’s trilogy fight after taking out Matt Gordon in two rounds.
Adeleye said: “The guys that I spar have good chins and we work on different things.
“It’s a learning process that never ends.

    “I thought come July I’d be 5-0, I’m 2-0 so it’s put a hold on everything.”
Adeleye started fast in the opening round but struggled to find home with his telling right hand.
But it was all over in the second as the novice Londoner backed Gordon up against the ropes and unleashed relenting right hands until the ref stopped the fight.
The win came as veteran promoter Frank Warren staged the nation’s first night of fights since lockdown and extreme measures were taken in order to ensure the show ran as safely as possible.

    5

Adeleye moved to 2-0 as he breezed past Matt Gordon in two rounds
British Board of Boxing Control chief Robert Smith – who has allowed only five fights per event – was ringside to oversee proceedings.
Warren announced all 104 coronavirus tests carried out on boxers and staff involved in the show over the last seven days came back negative.
Referees had to wear face masks during fights before then showering if they were to officiate another bout.
After each contest officials strenuously cleaned in and around the ring, wiping down everything from the canvas to the ropes.
Boxers, who were joined with their bubble of one trainer and another team member, would have to empty their gloves and hand wraps after every fight – in individual bins.
Coaches were required visor masks in the corner and in possession of a specially made spit bucket.

Hamzah Sheeraz dedicates win on return to British boxing to his beloved auntie Shabnum who passed away from Covid-19

HAMZAH SHEERAZ honoured his greatest fan with an emotional win against Paul Kean.
The gigantic 6ft 3in super-welterweight fought for the first time since his beloved auntie Shabnum Sadiq tragically passed away from Covid-19.

    1

Hamzah Sheeraz dedicates win on return to British boxing to his beloved auntie Shabnum who passed away from Covid-19
And after the win, Sheeraz 21, said: “I’d like to dedicate this win to my auntie who passed away of Covid-19.
“Hopefully she’s looking down on me and is proud.”
Shabnum — his aunt and a mother of five — lost her life to Covid- 19 in April, leaving her family, including 13-year-old quadruplets, devastated.
Sheeraz used gruelling training sessions to distract from the agony, but was comforted by knowing he has the rest of his career to honour her.

And the Slough-born comfortably cruised to 11-0 and defended his WBO European title at the same time with a dominant victory over six rounds.
He came out in the opening round patiently edging out his jab but half way through landed a perfectly timed short right hand which chopped down on the chin of ex-kickboxer Kean.
The challenger regained his composure and was able to make it through to the bell.

Riddick Bowe reveals all about life after boxing: From multi-millionaire with flash cars… to skint trucker

RIDDICK BOWE was once boxing’s heavyweight champion of the world, filthy rich and boasting a driveway filled with flash cars.
But after hanging up his gloves, his life derailed.

    7

    7

Bowe spent 17 months in prison for kidnapping his familyCredit: AP:Associated Press
As well as an aborted enlistment in the Marines and a 17-month prison term for kidnapping his family, Bowe was also forced to file for bankruptcy.
Bowe, now 52, won the world heavyweight title in 1992 – before promptly throwing the belt in the bin in protest over being forced into fighting Lennox Lewis.
All in all, “Big Daddy” won 43 of his 45 career fights, losing just once, with 33 KOs.
After retiring, the boxing legend tried to make his mother proud by joining the Marines, only to quit after three days of training.

In 1998, he tried to save his marriage by kidnapping estranged wife Judy and their five kids – threatening her with a knife, handcuffs, duct tape and pepper spray before forcing them into his car.
During the chaos, Bowe stabbed his wife in the chest and was sentenced to 18 months to two years in prison.
After his legal team asked for a smaller sentence, blaming brain damage caused by boxing, his term was cut to just 30 days.
But on appeal it was bumped back up again to 17 months.

Bowe declared himself bankrupt in 2005 before making a comeback to boxing – and then attempting to forge a career for himself in wrestling – to make ends meet.
Incredibly, Bowe turned to trucking and driving a bus to pay the bills.
Having once been worth millions and owning a luxury mansion and three Rolls Royces, it was a tough pill to swallow.

But now Bowe has exclusively told SunSport all about his experiences.
In a warning to the heavyweight boxers of today, Bowe warned: “Control your expenses and budget.
“Control your income and your outgoings. If you don’t have a lot of income coming in then be more conservative.
“Learn to not overspend. Don’t try to impress others, be yourself and live.”
“Understand the budget, have a financial advisor, have folks around you who are able to advice you correctly.
“As a fighter, you have to have a house, you have to have a trainer, you have to pay all these people, and you have an accountant.
“Instead of building a massive mansion, live in a smaller one.
“Don’t fly on a private plane when you can take a car where you’re going, don’t go to fancy casinos when you don’t have to, don’t stay at big hotels when you can stay in an average hotel.
“Look into your expenses and put together a budget.”

    7

Bowe has warned boxers of today to look after their money, unlike himselfCredit: Reuters
Bowe also warned the likes of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua against con artists pretending to be financial experts.
He continued: “Usually a lot of fighters are taken advantage of by folks who are just there for the fame and fortune… they don’t care about the fighter.
“Ninety-nine per cent of the so-called financial experts have zero experience – they don’t even have a thousand dollars to their name.
“That’s because they’re just trying to make a buck coming in taking advantage of a fighter who lets them into his world.
“Have the right financial advisors and if you want to take it a step further, have a pension plan.”
Bowe also opened up about his time driving a bus and trucking, admitting he “love it”.
The Brooklyn-born fighter continued: “Yeah, I was involved in trucking and I drove briefly. I loved it, it was a lot of fun.
“I really enjoyed the camaraderie of being able to go down the highway. I enjoy driving it relaxes me.
“I’ve always considered myself as a regular type guy. I was sitting around home and thought why not have a new career?
“So I pursued that for some time and enjoyed it and it helped my mind to be free with no worries.
“You move on – I did after a while of that.
“When I was at training camps I used to take the bus because I was scared of flying.
“I had my own promotional bus called ‘Bowe Bus’ which I used to travel the country in.”
    ACTING & MUSIC
But Bowe also recalled the good times post-retirement, including acting – with a cameo on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – and music.
Bowe said: “I was involved in acting. I did a cameo on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith, who is a good friend.
“For many years I was involved with the legendary hip hop artist B.I.G – I was in one of his music videos: More Money, More Problems.
“I knew him well, growing up in Brooklyn.
“I remember walking down the street back in the 1980s, Christopher Wallace is his real name, he would be on the corner and we would hang out and talk.
“He would come to a lot of my amateur fights. I won the Golden Gloves, he was in the audience.
“Just like Mike Tyson, I was pretty close to Christopher.”
In a final word of warning to current champion boxers, Bowe urged them to always remain “humble” and help others.

    7

Bowe revealed: “The most important lesson I’ve learned is to always be humble.
“I’m a people’s champion… I represent the common man. A real champion is one who does this.
“Helping others and fighting for a bigger cause is something that I’ve always believed in.
“I did a lot of charity and I believe in helping others.
“During one of my 1995 fights there was a boy who had been hit by lightning and had to have his leg amputated.
“The boy’s family had written a letter. I said I want to donate money for the house, $100,000, which had been struck with lightning, but also for the medical bills for the boy.
“I did and the boy has perfect legs and is a friend of mine to this day.
“I say this not to boast, but one of my missions have been to help others in life.

Vasily Lomachenko begins training camp for Teofimo Lopez with October 3 date pencilled in for unification fight

VSAILY LOMACHENKO has kicked off his training camp for his fight with Teofimo Lopez – with October 3 pencilled in for the unification fight.
The pair were due to fight in April before the coronavirus pandemic wiped out boxing across the globe.

    2

Vasily Lomachenko has started training to face Teofimo Lopez in a lightweight unification on October 3

    2

Lopez and Lomachenko were due to fight in April before the coronavirus pandemic wiped out boxing across the globe
But after promoter Bob Arum started staging events behind closed doors at the end of June, Lomachenko’s manager Egis Klimas told ESPN the Ukrainian has officially began preparing for his ring return.
And the unified champion will have three months to prepare for Lopez.
Arum told BoxingScene: “Loma-Lopez, we had scheduled it for September 19 as the working date but now it will probably go on pay-per-view and that means the working date now is October 3.”
Arum hopes crowds can return at a reduced capacity towards the end of the year and believes Lomachenko could fight with fans in attendance

He said: “Right now, with the spike going on Nevada we couldn’t schedule it even with limited spectators.
“Hopefully, and we have some time, we’re looking to do that fight for 2,000 or maybe 2,500 people.”
Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, who are set to fight in December, are already being lined up to headline at the Raiders Allegiant Stadium in Vegas.

Mike Tyson used to hide from his own security team to meet up with ‘real nasty girls’ as he feared they’d tell his wife

MIKE TYSON has revealed how he used to sneak out at night to hide the fact he was meeting “nasty girls” from his wife and security guards.
The heavyweight legend lived in fear that his security team would tell his other half about other women he was seeing on the side.

Tyson, 54, endured battles with alcoholism, drugs, depression and sex addiction during his illustrious career.
His former manager Rory Holloway even wrote in his book how he had to employ 24-hour security guards to prevent him from sneaking out to meet women before a fight.
And Iron Mike has spoken of his own experiences, admitting he used to take off in the middle of the night.

Speaking on his Hotboxin Podcast, he said: “I didn’t want no one to know what I was doing.
“I might want to see one of my really nasty girls and I don’t want nobody to know who I’m with.
“You don’t want people to know what you’re doing.
“Sometimes I would just sneak out of my house and take-off in the middle of the night.

“You never know if your security are going to be cool, film you, have something on you in the past, they shouldn’t know, if you’re married at the time – doing dirt.”
Tyson has been married three times and has a history of physical abuse and adultery.

I might want to see one of my really nasty girls and I don’t want nobody to know
    Mike Tyson

After his first marriage with Robin Givens, she described it as “torture, pure hell, worse than anything I could possibly imagine.”
His second five-year marriage with Monica Turner ended after accusing him of cheating in an “act that has neither been forgiven nor condoned.”
In March, Tyson went more into depth about his past that included partying and paying for orgies.
Speaking on his YouTube show, the American confessed: “When I was young I was an animal with money.
“Giving people money like f*** everybody, party with everybody and f*** their mothers, their sisters and their cousins… orgies. I was crazy.
“I was so sick and I had no idea I was so sick.
“I bought a lot of cars for girls too.”
Tyson won 50 of his 58 professional fights in a long career that contained comebacks from a rape conviction and later bankruptcy.

MARTIN SCORSESE will direct the new Mike Tyson biopic film.
The Hollywood icon will take on his first boxing film since Raging Bull and will lead the star-studded cast including legendary actor Jamie Foxx.

    4

Martin Scorsese will direct the new Mike Tyson biopic

    4

The film documenting Tyson’s life and career will be Scorsese’s first boxing film since Raging Bull

    4

Hollywood star Jamie Foxx will play Tyson in the blockbuster
The actor, 52, has bulked up dramatically to play the heavyweight legend on the silver screen.
However, with filming postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Foxx has used the time to give a series of interviews about the film.
Speaking on Showtime’s All the Smoke, Foxx said: “Martin Scorsese who hasn’t done a boxing film since Raging Bull has agreed to take the helm.
“We want to show everybody evolves. Everybody comes from a good or bad place.

“I think when we lay the layers on Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey and the way we’ll place it.”
Scorsese has directed some of the best films of all time including Goodfellas and Wolf of Wall Street.

But the Tyson movie will be the first boxing film he has directed since the 1980 smash Raging Bull which documents the story of Italian-American middleweight Jake LaMotta.
Tyson recently told Foxx he was happy when he was skint because “vultures” could not take his money from him.

Foxx will have to go into a “dark hole” for the eagerly awaited film, according to his close pal.
And the actor has already embarked on an incredible body transformation as he bulks up to accurately depict the legendary heavyweight.
The Django Unchained star posted a series of topless selfies to his Instagram followers.
And he wrote alongside the photos: “The transformation begins… “FINDING MIKE”.

With a successful podcast, marijuana ranch and even Hollywood film cameos, the former heavyweight champion appears to be living the good life again.
But gone are the days of the sort of outlandish lavish spending that saw him blow his estimated £320million fortune and file for bankruptcy back in 2003.
In fact, the Baddest Man on the Planet has even managed to become a millionaire again – having recovered from eye-watering debt of around £18m at one point.
Now he is set to have a Hollywood movie biopic based on him with Oscar winner Foxx due to play the boxer.

However, with filming postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, Foxx has used the time to give a series of interviews about the film.

“When I called Mike one time, I said ‘Mike, how are you doing?’ – And it’s this voice ‘All praise to Allah, my brother I’m just happy’.
“I said ‘why you happy?’ and ‘I’m happy I don’t have money anymore, I don’t have any money’. “I said ‘why do you say that? Why does that make you happy?’
“‘Cause no one can take anything from me anymore. There are no vultures. Nobody out there trying to take anything from me. So I’m just happy.’”

Anthony Joshua’s conqueror Andy Ruiz Jr in talks to fight Chris Arreola as Mexican returns after losing world titles

ANDY RUIZ JR is nearing a return to the ring with talks to fight Chris Arreola “looking very good”.
The Mexican shocked the world a year ago with one of the biggest upsets in boxing history as he defeated Anthony Joshua to become heavyweight champ.

    2

Andy Ruiz Jr, pictured in his loss to Anthony Joshua in December, could be set to return to the ringCredit: AFP
His brief reign was ended in December as AJ bounced back to regain the belts in their Saudi Arabia rematch.
Ruiz Jr was heavily criticised after that loss for not taking his training seriously as he enjoyed the fame and fortunes of being top dog, leading to a split with coach Manny Robles.
Now the 30-year-old, famed for his love of Snickers, has teamed up with Eddy Reynoso and could be about to make a comeback against countryman Arreola, aged 39.
His potential opponent told Sky Sports: “Yes, actually there’s been a couple of talks [about Ruiz Jr fight], but I’m not at liberty of saying anything right now.

    2

Chris Arreola, pictured punching Adam Kownacki last August, is the man set to face the Mexican
“But they are looking fairly good. Looking very good. I’m actually very excited for that fight.
“I think that’s the only fight that looks promising for myself.
“If that fight doesn’t come around, then you know, I’m OK with staying at home.
“But that’s the only fight that’s very enticing, not only to myself, also for the boxing fans.

“I think the boxing fans will love a boxing fight with two Mexican heavyweights that are going at it.”
Arreola, who resides in America like his potential opponent, is a three-time world title challenger and broke the CompuBox record for most punches thrown during his losing effort to Adam Kownacki in August.
WBA still has both men within title shot contention, with Arreola ranked seventh while Ruiz Jr is fourth.
And Arreola has promised to produce an explosive display and bring excitement to fans if they can get a deal over the line to fight.
