Vasyl Lomachenko shows off gruesome shoulder surgery scars as he poses in hospital bed after shock Teofimo Lopez loss

VASYL LOMACHENKO’S team released footage of his shoulder surgery which left the Ukrainian with gruesome scars.
Lomachenko was stunned last weekend as Teofimo Lopez outboxed him to win the unified lightweight titles.

Vasyl Lomachenko’s team released footage of his shoulder surgery

The operation left the Ukrainian with gruesome scars

The 32-year-old’s manager Egis Klimas claimed the beaten southpaw came into the fight injured but refused to pull out.
A newly released video revealed Lomachenko in a hospital bed going under the knife.
Lomachenko’s surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache revealed he performed the procedure two days after the fight.
ElAttrache previously operated on the three-weight champion in 2018 after he dislocated his shoulder beating Jorge Linares.

Lomachenko’s dad and trainer Anatoly is said to have wanted his son to withdraw against Lopez – but the plea was ignored.
Klimas told ESPN:“We lost one week of training.
“We lost one week of sparring because the doctor forbid him to do much for a week after the injection.”

Lopez added the WBA,WBO and WBC Franchise belt to his IBF title and received praise for his masterful performance.

And the 23-year-old was left unhappy with Loma’s post-fight injury reveal.
He said: “I was coming into this fight injured as well, if you wanna talk about injuries, but I didn’t make no excuses about it.
“I think that by him doing that, as someone who was considered the number one, pound-for-pound, best boxer in the whole world, to use that excuse, it just looks more bad on him than anything else.” More

Tyson Fury confirms ring return on December 5 at Royal Albert Hall as talks with Frank Warren continue over opponent

TYSON FURY has confirmed he will make his homecoming on December 5 – with an opponent to be announced soon.
The Gypsy King has decided to walk away from his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder to focus on facing Anthony Joshua.

But first Fury will take a warm-up fight at Royal Albert Hall before moving on to the undisputed title decider next year.
He said: “Can’t wait to get back in the ring and get back to what I do best.
“I would just like to announce that I am definitely fighting December 5 in London, opponent to be announced very, very soon.
“Just working on some opponents and will let you all know who it is going to be shortly. Watch this space.”

Fury, 32, dethroned Wilder, 34, for the WBC title in February and the pair were already signed to an immediate rematch.
But with paying fans unable to return due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fight faced continuous delays.
And with Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum claiming Wilder’s rematch clause had expired, they decided to cancel the trilogy.
WBA, IBF and WBO champion Joshua, 31, defends his title against Kubrat Pulev, 39, on December 12.

Should Fury and AJ emerge victorious, they have already verbally agreed a two-fight deal for 2021.
Carlos Takam, 39, Agit Kabayel, 28 are frontrunners to land the WBC title shot, but Oscar Rivas, 33, has been deemed too short.
Arum told BoxingScene: “Fury should beat Takam but Takam is at least known and he has been on ESPN. And he looked pretty good in the last fight.
“[Kabayel] is undefeated and he has fought some fairly decent guys. I haven’t come up with anybody else.
“I discussed Oscar Rivas but the theory is he’s too small. Too small, too short.”

Khabib gave his assessment on his fellow combat sport prior to Vasyl Lomachenko’s recent defeat to Teofimo Lopez.
The 32-year-old had named the Ukrainian as one of the best around but snubbed Anthony Joshua when picking boxing’s best.
He told reporters: “Right now, I think three guys. Oleksandr Usyk, Vasyl Lomachenko and Canelo Alvarez.
“Oh sorry, Tyson Fury too. Four guys. It’s very hard [to decide] who is the best.”

He is not like other heavyweights, more technique, his footwork is very good, his conditioning is very good, I really wanna watch Usyk against Fury.
    Khabib Nurmagomedov on Oleksandr Usyk

Fury, 32, recently confirmed he is scrapping his planned trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder and is now free to deliver an all-British heavyweight unification showdown with Joshua next year.
Yet Khabib has claimed he would much rather see the Gypsy King face Usyk.
He added: “I really want to see Usyk vs Fury. It’s gonna be a very good fight. He [Usyk] has very good skill and technique, Tyson Fury too.
“He is not like other heavyweights, more technique, his footwork is very good, his conditioning is very good, I really wanna watch Usyk against Fury.”

Khabib, meanwhile, is ‘destroying everyone’ in the gym ahead of his own fight against Gaethje according to his coach Javier Mendez.
The Russian also revealed he wants to head to England after the fight to watch Manchester United and Liverpool.
SunSport exclusively revealed Tony Ferguson is a potential opponent for Khabib if he decides to fight again.

Sad Mike Tyson says ‘happiness for me is death’ in new Netflix documentary about 54-year-old boxing legend

MIKE TYSON tragically revealed that ‘happiness for me is death’ in an upcoming Netflix documentary based on the 54-year-old boxing legend.
Iron Mike is being trained by Rafael Cordeiro ahead of his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr, 51, in California next month.

Mike Tyson reveals some startling truths in a Netflix documentaryCredit: Instagram

And coach Cordeiro let slip, in a Portuguese YouTube interview, that Netflix are filming a documentary with Tyson based on his eventful life in and out the ring.
One day while filming, Cordeiro asked a down-in-the-dumps Tyson what happiness means to him.
And the former world heavyweight champ said: “Happiness for me is death, because I saw many bad things and lost many bad things in my life.”
Tyson grew up in Brooklyn without a father and his mum passed away when he was just 16.

In 1992, he was banged up for three years after being found guilty of raping beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington.
He earned the moniker ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ and spent another stretch inside after assaulting two older men in 1999.
Tyson – famed for biting a part of Evander Holyfield’s ear off – also bit Brit Lennox Lewis at a press conference and then filed for bankruptcy in 2003 after blowing a £330million fortune.
With his first fight in 15 years on the horizon, Tyson is already planning a further THREE scraps.

Cordeiro reckons Tyson will have a trio of big-money bouts before finally hanging up his gloves.
Tyson is pencilled in to fight arguably the greatest pound-for-pound champ Jones Jr on November 28.
Cordeiro said: “He is very happy to do three more fights next year and suddenly fight for great things.”
Tyson could face the man who stunned the world by beating him in 1990 – Buster Douglas – although it seems highly unlikely as Iron Mike’s foe is 60 now.
Douglas has predicted a win for Tyson against Jones Jr – but reckons they are crazy to fight again at their age.

And a clash with the man who stunned the world by beating him in 1990 – Buster Douglas – would be one to saviour, although highly unlikely as Iron Mike’s foe is 60 now.
That was one of sport’s greatest upsets.
Douglas has predicted a Tyson win against Jones Jr – and reckons the pair are crazy to get back in the ring at their age.

He said: “I think Roy he has a chance but it’s a slim chance. Slimmer than Buster Douglas.”

Cordeiro did not mention any names as possible opponents for Tyson.
But a fight with Tyson Fury – who was named after Iron Mike – would certainly get the most viewers.
In a Youtube interview in Portuguese, Brazilian Cordeiro, the former trainer for UFC champ Wanderlei Silva, said: “I can tell you, if he wants to do something in the future, he is going to be ready to do that – 100 per cent.
“As soon as we started training I said ‘My Lord. I didn’t know what to expect from a guy who hasn’t hit mitts for – I think – almost ten years.
“So I didn’t expect to see what I saw – I saw a guy with the same speed, the same power as a guy who is 21, 22-years-old.
“You would have to be a good guy to spar with Mike, because if you don’t prepare, he is going to drop you for sure – 100 per cent.
“The power is different level. I have trained a lot of heavyweights in my career, with not a lot of respect for everybody, but he is almost as powerful as Wanderlei Silva is right now.
“When you talk about power, I held his right hook and thought ‘he is going to kill somebody’.”

Buster Douglas, who shocked world against Mike Tyson in 1990, makes prediction for legend’s fight with Roy Jones Jr

JAMES ‘BUSTER’ DOUGLAS claims Roy Jones Jr has a ‘slimmer chance’ than he did against Mike Tyson.
It will be 30 years ago next month that the now 60-year-old shocked the world in Tokyo by defeating Iron Mike to become heavyweight champion.

Even now it is considered one of the biggest upsets in sporting history.
Douglas, who would lose the title to Evander Holyfield seven months later, has been watching keenly as his old adversary prepares for a comeback.
Tyson, 54, will take on ex-four weight world champ Jones Jr in a highly-anticipated exhibition bout on November 28.
But despite Douglas knocking out Tyson himself in 1990, he believes the much-maligned legend will have no issues in five weeks – if the fight actually takes place.

Speaking to DJ Vlad, Douglas revealed his surprise Jones Jr had agreed to the showdown – especially after pulling out of a match against him in the 90s.
On his failed clash, Douglas said: “He pulled out, his dad told him not to do it.
“It probably wasn’t in his best interests to fight me as he was biting off too much.”
And on the upcoming bout with Tyson, he continued: “I was surprised that it was even announced (at all) because I was like, wait a minute what does he see that I don’t see or, you know, because you’ve got to actually feel like you can beat somebody to expect the fight with them.

“That was really confusing because I know what he and I went through but then he turns around and he’s going to fight Mike, so I was like ‘wow’. He must see something or know something.
“But then I see he’s really doubting it now, debating or not whether he’s going to do it. So I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

And when it came to choosing a winner out of Tyson and Jones Jr, Douglas does not hold much hope for the latter.
He added: “I think (Roy) he has a chance but it’s a slim chance.
    “Slimmer than Buster Douglas.”

Boxing’s new super-cruiserweight division a ‘sensible’ move that will allow mouthwatering fights like Usyk vs Wilder

BECAUSE Tyson Fury and the rest of today’s leading heavyweights are built the size of articulated trucks, boxing is about to create a new weight class.
The idea is that it’s going to be above the cruiserweight 14st 4lb limit and the fighters who will be involved won’t be allowed to be heavier than 16st.

Wilder could be one of the superstars set to compete in this new divisionCredit: Getty Images – Getty

With 17 weight divisions already, you would think the Noble Art needs another as about as much as Manchester needs a goodwill visit from Boris Johnson.
But talks between WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman and British Boxing Board of Control chairman Charlie Giles are at an advanced stage.
It is a sensible move and will protect men like Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk — who clashes with Derek Chisora tomorrow week in London — from being at an unacceptable weight disadvantage.
Usyk, the unbeaten former undisputed world cruiserweight champion ran out of opposition, which forced him to move up among the big boys.

Yet when he had his first heavyweight fight a year ago he was 15st 5lb, which means he will probably be at least three stone lighter than Chisora next week.
Tony Bellew, the former world cruiserweight champ knocked out by Usyk in his last fight, has been asked by the WBC to be an ambassador for the plan.
Bellew said: “I’m very enthusiastic about this because it will allow the small heavyweights and big cruiserweights to have a level playing field.
“Speaking from experience Usyk is technically the best in the heavyweight division. He’s a genius.

“But the one thing that will hold him back is sheer size. He will not be able to beat the real big boys for that reason.
“Heavyweights are getting bigger and bigger. Look at Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. They are huge. The new division is inevitable and the need for it is going to get more apparent.”
Glenn McCrory, Britain’s first world cruiserweight champion, is 100 per cent behind Bellew. He said: “When I lost my cruiserweight title I moved up to heavyweight and fought Lennox Lewis.
“He was only a couple of stone heavier but he was throwing me around like I was a rag doll. Imagine what it would be like facing someone three or four stone heavier.”

Fans may be surprised to learn last century’s legendary world champions would never be considered heavyweights in this era of Goliaths.
This what they weighed when they won the title. Jack Johnson (13st 4lb), Jack Dempsey (13st 5lb), Joe Louis (14st 1lb) and Rocky Marciano a mere 13st 2lb.
Can you imagine matching Marciano — 11 inches shorter and six stone lighter — with Fury? He’d be arrested under the Trades Description Act.
The only negative argument I’ve heard is a new super-cruiserweight division will be unfashionable and therefore unattractive to the TV companies’ networks.
But if it was launched with a Usyk-Deontay Wilder — an under 16st man — world championship battle, I doubt if that would be too difficult to sell.

Boxing referee Terry O’Connor was NOT holding phone while scoring Ritson’s controversial win, BBBofC claim

BOXING ref Terry O’Connor was NOT using his phone while scoring Lewis Ritson’s controversial win, the British Boxing Board of Control have said.
Last Saturday the veteran official scored the Peterborough bout 117-111 in favour of the Newcastle super-lightweight, despite underdog Miguel Vazquez putting on a clinic.

Boxing ref Terry O’Connor has been cleared of any wrongdoing after he appeared to be on his phone during a fightCredit: Twitter@markstaylor1980

At ringside, former fighters Matt Macklin and Tony Bellew had Vazquez winning comfortably and promoter Eddie Hearn labelled O’Connor’s card a ‘disgrace’.
A freeze frame taken from Sky Sports’ coverage and spread on social media made it look like O’Connor was checking a handset during crucial rounds.
WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman also got involved after the photo went viral, writing: “This image is extremely troubling to any person involved in boxing.”
But SunSport believes an unfortunate angle made O’Connor’s pen and score card resemble a mobile and the BBBoC are satisfied following a hearing.

A statement from the BBBofC read: “British Boxing Board of Control Judge Mr Terry O’Connor appeared before the Stewards of the Board to discuss his performance at the tournament held on October 17, 2020, at the East of England Showground Arena, Peterborough.
“Allegations made on social media and the print media as to Mr O’Connor using a mobile telephone or similar handheld device were considered.
“Following extensive consideration of footage and M O’Connor’s evidence supplied, the Stewards are satisfied that Mr O’Connor was not in possession of any telephone or handheld device whilst carrying out his duties as a Judge in the contest between Lewis Ritson and Miguel Vazquez and his scoring of said bout was not affected in any way.
“In addition, Mr O’Connor’s scoring of the bout was considered and whilst judging a contest is subjective and following Mr O’Connor’s explanation of how he scored the bout, the Stewards are satisfied that Mr O’Connor’s final score reflected his own opinion of the contest.”

SunSport understands O’Connor was actually holding a pen and paperCredit: Twitter@markstaylor1980

Despite being cleared of any wrongdoing, this is not the first-time O’Connor has been caught up in controversy.
He was one of three judges who gave Callum Smith a wide-points win against John Ryder in November last year.
Many thought Ryder had shocked the champ into his first ever loss – O’Connor gave that fight 117-111 too.
The Birmingham judge was also slammed by promoter Mick Hennessey in 2017 when he gave Joseph Parker a 118-110 decision against Hughie Fury.
Hennessey said that O’Connor had ‘buckled under pressure’.
