Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury could take place in sweltering 55C Saudi Arabian heat with indoor venues already prepared

EDDIE HEARN has revealed that Anthony Joshua’s undisputed heavyweight title fight against Tyson Fury could take place in Saudi Arabia.Despite the 55C heat in the Middle East during the summer, the Matchroom promoter has stated that the two would compete in purpose-built indoor arenas.

Both men have already competed in the Gulf nation, with AJ outpointing Andy Ruiz Jr in their rematch in December in 2019, while Fury beat Braun Strowman at WWE’s Crown Jewel two months earlier.
It was confirmed in March that the two British giants had finally signed their two-fight, £500million deal after months of talks.
The Gypsy King, 32, declared on Wednesday that there are just three days left to secure a venue for the first of their blockbuster bouts.
But Hearn has revealed he has been presented with a number of options to host the event, including the Middle East as well as Wembley Stadium on July 24.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Nothing is ideal. If it was ideal, we’d just be in Wembley with 100,000.
“But I don’t know whether Tyson Fury would accept that offer. We may see on Sunday.
“But if it’s 20,000 or 15,000 in an arena, all the Middle East offers have been based on an indoor arena.
“We know it’s hot there in July, of course, so there is no option to go outside.
“It has to be in an indoor arena and those arenas are already in place, ready to stage this fight.”

Hearn has also questioned whether Fury is looking for a way out of facing Joshua, as he added: “From our side, we’re really comfortable.
“You don’t see AJ out there tweeting, ‘Oh three days to go, the clock is ticking!’
    “Don’t you want this fight?
“No, you see AJ saying, ‘I’m working, I’m training for this fight,’ and I speak to him every day.”

Fury, however, is continuing to train as if the bout is still happening, with more pictures of him looking in good nick.
Irish welterweight Paddy Donovan recently shared a snap of a trim-looking Fury to Instagram and did so again on Thursday night.
Donovan posted a post-training picture of himself, Fury, Andy Lee and Issac Lowe with the accompanying caption: “It’s In Our Blood.”
Although Fury was donning a black and gold tracksuit, it was clear for all to see that he’s still dropping the pounds.
But he could very well put them back on if he gets into the habit of eating Chinese takeaways, which his wife Paris – who is pregnant with their sixth child – forced him to have for his dinner last night.
She said on Instagram: “Oh my gosh, it has been the longest day ever.

“We’re in the middle of school holidays, me and Tyson have been filming all day for something, and I have brought the kids out for a cheek McDonald’s because I can’t do tea tonight.
“Too tired, too done in. So I think it’s a Chinese takeaway for me and T and he’ll have to like it or lump it.
“And Maccy D’s for the kids because I’m shattered.”
Fury’s eagerly-anticipated showdown with Joshua is currently in doubt as a date and venue for the blockbuster bout have yet to be sorted.
WBC king Fury recently suggested a deadline to finalise the fight is fast approaching, sparking fears the biggest bout in the history of British boxing is on the brink of collapse.

But Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed both fighters will be made aware of all the current proposals in the coming days.
On Thursday, he told Sky Sports: “At the end of this week both fighters and the teams will be presented with all the offers and options on the table, which there will be multiple ones.
“We’re in a good place. I saw John Fury’s comments.
“It’s almost like they don’t really want the fight.
“I’d like them to talk it up, rather than talk it down.

“We’re quite aware that there has been a global pandemic.
“We’re quite aware that it’s not easy, but we’re out there grafting away every day to get this done.
“A little bit of support would be nice, John and Tyson, thank you very much.
“Like I said, there will be around three or four offers presented to both camps this weekend and then it’s over to them and the teams to discuss which one we want to take. The dates of those fights.”

Watch as 25st 5lbs Eddie Hall shows off explosive punching power on pads and tells Hafthor Bjornsson he’s ‘f***ed’

EDDIE HALL has fired a warning at Hafthor Bjornsson ahead of their bout in September. The strongmen will share the ring later this year, in what has been dubbed the ‘heaviest boxing match in history’.

The strongman has been put through his paces in practiceCredit: Instagram @eddiehallwsm
Bjornsson, 32, took to Instagram earlier this week to show off his hulking figure.
But, unfazed, Hall has put out some intimidating content of his own.
The Brit, 33, took to Insta to share a video of himself going through drills in the ring.
Hall looked sharp and, by his standards, lean at 352lbs as he was put through his paces by a trainer.
    He also warned: “Thors F****d”.
And British WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence Okolie was impressed, commenting: “Looking loose and powerful 😈✊🏿.”
Not everyone feels the same, however, with Hall having had his skills criticised by Joe Rogan.
The podcaster and UFC commentator blasted: “That’s not good. Right away we’re seeing that we have a real problem. Yeah, this is terrible.

“He’s very rudimentary, but also you see that his body is very stiff. Looking at him sparring there, he’s just not moving so good
“This is super stiff. He’s throwing these punches with his arms. These are arm punches, almost like he shouldn’t be hitting things.”
But Hall graciously took the comments on the chin, responding: “I love Joe Rogan, I absolutely do love Joe Rogan
“Look man, people can speculate, they can make assumptions, they can guess, they can do whatever they want, but I’m knocking Thor out.
He’s an experienced guy, he knows what he’s talking about, but he doesn’t know the full pictureEddie Hall on Joe Rogan’s criticism
“There’s no doubt in my mind. So, people can say whatever they want.
“I take no offence to Joe Rogan’s comments. He’s an experienced guy, he knows what he’s talking about, but he doesn’t know the full picture.
“You look at a few clips, you can’t make assumptions from that.
“It doesn’t bother me in the slightest, it doesn’t put me off. I hope it gives Thor more confidence, because he needs it.
“He’s in deep trouble. And I’d still love to go on The Joe Rogan Show and tell him a story for everyone to hear.”

Joey Essex’s dreams of becoming a boxer were dashed aged 15 after his uncle said TOWIE star was ‘too pretty’ to fight

JOEY ESSEX could have been a professional boxer… if he wasn’t so good looking. The reality TV favourite has the sport in his blood, his dad boxed while his uncle Tony Sims is a renowned trainer.

And Essex revealed while starring on SAS: Who Dares Wins last year that it was Tony who told him he was ‘too pretty’ to be a fighter.
He said: “I wanted to fight when I was a kid, I loved it, I loved boxing.
“I used to train quite a lot, my uncle sort of put a stop to it, I remember he said, ‘You can’t be a fighter, you’re too pretty’.”
Sims laughs as he remembers telling his nephew his career was not destined for the ring – and the years since have proved him right.
He told SunSport: “He did want to fight when he was about 15, he used to come down the gym all the time and watch all the pros train.
“He’d say, ‘I wanna fight’. And I said, ‘Listen, you don’t wanna fight, mate. You’ve got more money to earn outside the ring than inside the ring’.
“He’s a lovely boy and he’s done well in his career outside of boxing, he didn’t need to box.”
Essex, 30, has made millions and won over several fans after finding fame on The Only Way is Essex.

But he is still an avid boxing fan and supports all the fighters in his uncle’s Brentwood gym.
And the super-fit celebrity evens gets involved in training sessions from time to time, keeping up with the pack.
Sims revealed: “He does a little bit, he comes down the gym now and then.
“Funnily enough, the year before the last we were in LA training and Robert Garcia’s gym, we had Conor Benn and a few of the boys out there sparring.
“And Joey was out there working himself, he ended up coming and staying with me and the boys for a week and trained with us.
“He did all the running, sprints with them and he was on par. He loves training, he’s in good shape.”
Sims has trained world champions of the past, such as Ricky Burns, Darren Barker and Anthony Joshua.

His son Charlie helps manage his current stable, which includes Conor Benn, who headlines against Samuel Vargas on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
Charlie, also a TOWIE alumni, like his cousin Joey contemplated lacing up the gloves once.
But his dad, one of the most experienced coaches in Britain, can recognise more than any who is going to make the grade or not.
Sims said: “My own son Charlie, who works with me managing my fighters, he had two amateur fights at the Repton.
“And he just wasn’t cut out for it. Some people just ain’t cut out for the sport but they do better things outside it.
“Some people are born to fight, Conor Benn I think is born to fight.
“Doesn’t matter how much money or what surrounding he was brought up in, he’s a born fighter.
“I think he’s going to develop into a really exciting fighter that the public are going to want to watch.”

Despite all Amir Khan’s benevolence, I believe he has now tarnished his image with eight-episode BBC reality show

AMIR KHAN is said to be worth around £23million.He earned it the hard way by risking his life in the ring, so nobody can begrudge him a penny of his fortune.
Amir Khan’s new BBC reality show has damaged his imageCredit: PA:Press Association
When Khan was a baby-faced 17-year-old he brought honour to Britain by winning a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics.
He continued to bring even more kudos to this country by turning pro and then becoming a two-time world champion.
Amir is unquestionably one of the most likable and talented fighters produced on this island and he has always respected his fans. He is media friendly, forever cheerful, available and helpful.
Much admired for his philanthropy, he set up a foundation which provides large sums of money to charities in Asia and Africa, as well as at home.
Khan strongly supports women who are the victims of violence, is an ambassador for the NSPCC and he allows underprivileged kids to use his state-of-the-art gym.
In recognition of his services to his home town, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bolton.

Yet despite all his benevolence, I believe Amir has now severely tarnished his image by agreeing, together with his wife Faryal, to take part in an excruciatingly bad eight-episode BBC reality show Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton.
It goes out on Monday nights — and I have watched the first four while cringing in horror.
It’s in the worst possible taste and only those who take some pleasure in seeing obscene ostentation will find it enjoyable.
This is a vehicle for the Khans to flaunt their wealth and their shameless love of extravagance of the worst kind.
Amir is filmed driving around Bolton in his red Lamborghini and lets it be known he has a Rolls-Royce in the garage — which he probably takes to the supermarket.
There were scenes of the two of them relaxing on a luxury yacht he rented when they were visiting Dubai.
There are constant shots of his lavishly furnished mansion — and Faryal is forever being shown in her bedroom wearing her bling and designer clothes.
In this week’s programme, Amir was in a Mayfair jeweller deciding which £100,000 watch he should buy. He has let it be known he bought his son a £30,000 Rolex for his first birthday.
The way I look at it, is that I work very hard for itAmir Khan
Justifying his opulent lifestyle, Amir said: “The way I look at it, is that I work very hard for it.
“I’m always one punch away from getting hurt, so I like to treat myself or treat my wife. But I do respect money and that’s one of the reasons I do a lot of charity work.”
Faryal chimed in: “It’s not up to us to tell people what to think. But in the show we are completely honest.
“We can’t really apologise for who we are. We’re going to be our real selves, whether anyone likes it or not.”
Amir added: “I’ve watched a lot of these reality shows and I like them because it gets to the real person, what they are really about, what they are really like.”
By criticising Amir, I now know what the person who shot Bambi felt like.

He doesn’t seem to realise he hasn’t done himself any favours by displaying how filthy rich he is for the world to see.
No doubt there are many of his fans who will have joined the millions that have lost jobs or even gone bankrupt due to the pandemic — and they won’t be too impressed.
    I am certainly not either.

Boxers Natasha Jonas, Kal Yafai and Hannah Rankin unite for No Means No campaign in wake of Sarah Everard tragedy

THE world of boxing has united to support the ‘No Means No’ campaign following Sarah Everard’s tragic death in March.Brit superstar Natasha Jonas, who returns to action to face Katie Taylor in a mouth-watering clash next month, is among those to back the campaign.
Boxers including Tash Jonas have united to back the No Means No campaign
Former WBA super flyweight world champion, Kal Yafai and title challenger Hannah Rankin have also voiced their support.
Yafai said: “Im supporting the No Means No campaign because I also feel it needs the support of men.
“No female should feel unsafe. No means no for a reason and that should be respected.”
Jonas will challenge Katie Taylor for the undisputed lightweight world title on 1 May.
The fierce duo went toe to toe at the London 2012 Olympics with Bray-born Taylor coming out on top.
Jonas said: “I stand with my sisters and, as a woman and a mother, No Means No.”
Scottish star Rankin added: “I want to be part of the campaign because as a strong independent female with a public profile, I believe it’s important to give others a voice and a platform.”

The campaign is being led by sports agent Sonia Randev, who works with several of Britain’s leading female boxers.
Randev said: “The importance of us all coming together is because our unity shows greater strength,
“It has taken a young woman to lose her life because she was simply walking home.
“We have been speaking up for years for women to be treated fairly and feel safe.
“We shouldn’t have to ask to feel safe. These are human rights. Things have to change and it needs to change now.”
British basketball aces Matthew Bryan and Teddy Okereafor have also united to show their support.
Bryan said: “It’s important for me to use my profile as an athlete to get behind this.
“But it’s more important for me to get behind this because I’m a man and we need to stand by these Women.”
Okereafor added: “I was raised by my Mother and have a younger sister.
“Im a professional athlete yes, but I’m also a son and a brother.
“It’s important for me to get behind this movement and stand with women.”

Hearn hits back at Tyson Fury’s dad John over lack of support for Anthony Joshua fight and reveals FOUR venue offers

EDDIE HEARN fears Tyson Fury might be looking for a way out of the undisputed decider with Anthony Joshua this summer. The Matchroom boss has spent almost a year trying to secure a venue for the all-English heavyweight super-fight and has just a couple of days left to reveal it.

WBC king Fury’s outspoken father John has claimed this week that neither Hearn nor his son’s American promoter Bob Arum is anywhere near to confirming a showdown.
The former fighter claims the pandemic means nobody wants to shell out mega money for the right to host the battle.
And Hearn fears Team Fury could be looking for a way out of the biggest fight in British boxing history.
Hearn said. “I saw John Fury’s comments… it’s almost like they don’t really want the fight.
“I’d like them to talk it up, rather than talk it down.
“We’re quite aware that there has been a global pandemic. We’re quite aware that it’s not easy.

“A little bit of support would be nice, John and Tyson, thank you very much.”

Hearn continued: “Like I said, there will be around three or four offers presented to both camps this weekend.
“Then it’s over to them and the teams to discuss which one we want to take.
“At the end of this week both fighters and the teams will be presented with all the offers and options on the table, which there will be multiple ones.”
The petro-billionaires who paid to take AJ’s successful bid to reclaim the WBA, IBF and WBO belts from Andy Ruiz in Saudi Arabia in December 2019 will not pay top dollar for a July show.
The scorching Middle East heat means most of the Emirati’s royals and highest rollers jet out for cooler summer holidays in Europe.
But Hearn will not budge on the date and still believes he and his team will get the deal over the line in time for a sensational 2021 double-header.

“It is a summer fight,” he said ahead of Conor Benn’s Saturday night clash with Samuel Vargas.
“That’s everything we’re working towards and as confident as ever that this gets done.
“I know that there are some negative people out there and people that believe we can’t pull it off, but we spend a lifetime pulling things off.
“And I believe we will get this done, and I believe you will see this fight in the summer.
“The next step is to basically get everybody to agree to the venue and the date, and they’re going to have multiple options to choose from.
“There’s no other fight for Tyson Fury. There’s no other fight for Anthony Joshua.
“This is the fight. Everyone accepts that.”

Iron Mike made his return to the ring after 15 years in an exhibition draw against Roy Jones Jr last November.
And despite backing Fury to beat Anthony Joshua in their colossal all-British heavyweight unification bout, Tyson also wants a piece of the Gypsy King.
On the Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, the man himself said: “I want Holyfield and Lewis this year.
    “I also want Fury.
“If I do that, I’ll say, ‘I’m just gonna live life.”
Tyson’s bizarre pay-per-view stalemate reeled in an incredible £60million for Triller and more lucrative showdowns appear to be on the cards.
Fury previously revealed how he is named after former world champ Tyson and idolises the hard-hitting veteran.

And Iron Mike has backed his namesake to do the business against AJ, telling BBC Sport: “It’s very interesting, Joshua is a masterful puncher. But you can see his punches coming, he telegraphs his punches.
“And that’s just a recipe for disaster if you’re fighting Tyson Fury and you’re telegraphing your punches – to a guy whose 6ft 7in, come on.”
The Baddest Man on the Planet is set to renew his rivalry with 58-year-old Holyfield, 24 years after their infamous rematch when Iron Mike was disqualified for sinking his teeth into his opponent’s ear.
Holyfield last fought in 2011 and officially retired in 2014 but is back in training for the trilogy bout.
Last month, Brit Lewis revealed he is ‘open’ to a rematch with Tyson if the public still want to see it – 19 years after the original clash.
Lewis stopped his rival in the eighth round in an epic contest and despite retiring in 2003 after beating Vitali Klitschko, admitted he could don the gloves once again.
