Man Utd would be just three points above drop zone without Rashford’s goal as stats reveal how Ole will miss star man

MANCHESTER UNITED could be in serious trouble after Marcus Rashford’s injury as the stats show they would be just above the drop zone without his goals this season.

Already enjoying a personal best campaign at Old Trafford, the striker has scored 14 times in the Premier League this year.

And the numbers show just how important he is to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

If they were shorn of Rashford’s goals, including winners against Leicester and Tottenham, United would have nine fewer points.

That would drop them from fifth, with 34 points, to 15th and a tally of 25.

Level with Brighton, such a scenario places the Manchester giants a mere three points clear of the relegation zone.

Fans are no doubt worried about what life will be like without Rashford – now he is out for around two months.

Solskjaer and United could not stop the 22-year-old’s back injury and he is now unavailable due to a stress fracture.

SunSport spotted Rashford carrying a bone fracture healing device earlier in the month but his boss insists that the injury he suffered against Wolves was a new one.

Solskjaer told reporters: “He complained a little bit after Burnley, [in December] he felt it the first time, and we managed him as well as we could.

“Then, he had some days off for treatment, taken off in games and suddenly this was a new injury.”

The player himself has vowed to come back “fitter than ever” having begun his absence when United were beaten by Liverpool on Sunday.

Yet, the Red Devils are not the worst team when it comes to being reliant on one goalscorer.

Wolves benefit from their star more than any other Premier League team, Raul Jimenez single-handedly notching 14 points with his ten goals this season.

Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, linked with a move to Barcelona, has earned 13 points with his 14 goals – the same totals as Southampton’s top scorer Danny Ings.
