Greenwood and McTominay arrive at Man Utd training in new Mercs as Neville says striker’s better finisher than Rashford

MASON GREENWOOD is already reaping the rewards of being Manchester United’s next big thing as he arrived at training in a matching Mercedes to Scott McTominay.

The 18-year-old and team-mate McTominay arrived at Carrington with the rest of the squad in style as they showed off their matching motors.

Other United stars showed up with flashy sports cars as they prepare to face Colchester in the Carabao Cup,  with Greenwood in fine form.

Greenwood came off the bench to rescue a point for United against Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

It came in the same week the forward netted a double against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League.

And Old Trafford legend Gary Neville has warned striker Rashford that Greenwood is breathing down his neck after calling the teen the better finisher of the two.

He said on his podcast: “I like Greenwood a lot. The composure that he shows at such a young age, his great physical presence.

“The way in which he finishes is that of a top centre-forward.

“Sometimes when you see a young player in front of goal, they panic a bit and snatch at things – [Daniel] James and [Jesse] Lingard do that quite a lot.

“But I’d say Greenwood is a better finisher than Rashford – and that’s saying something.

“He really does look the real deal. I think Solskjaer knows that and he’s going to bleed him in.”

Despite Greenwood’s fine form in front of goal, it is claimed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go all out for Austrian hitman Erling Haaland – who has 28 goals in 22 games for RB Salzburg this season.

And Neville has urged the Old Trafford boss to continue the spending, insisting United are still lacking quality in all areas.

He explained: “United still need those transfer windows, they still need those players into the club. We are still going to see inconsistency.

“There just isn’t that quality, experience, patience; how to navigate a team that plays compact and is soaking up the pressure.

“Time and time again this season, when teams just force Manchester United to come forward a little bit, they have a problem – they haven’t got the quality to break them down.

“If a team comes at Manchester United and they can play on the counter-attack, they’re devastating.

“They’ve beaten Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea, Leicester – teams that have got real ambition – but they struggle in games where teams sit off them a bit.

“That just tells you where this team is at. They’re still short.”
