GARETH BALE could move a step closer to joining Manchester United – and it’s all because of Brexit.
The Welsh winger is currently plying his trade out in Spain for Real Madrid.

But if the UK goes for a “no deal” Brexit, which looks unlikely after last night’s election win for the Tories, Bale’s career at Los Blancos is under threat.
That’s because, as ESPN reports, the 30-year-old, along with 800,000 Brits, “could potentially lose their right to work where they are living”.
Earlier this year, former prime minister Theresa May suffered the biggest Commons defeat in British history as she attempted to get her divorce deal with Europe through.
A massive 432 MPs voted to kill off the withdrawal agreement, with only 202 backing her.
The crushing defeat – which saw 118 Tories turn against the PM – is the worst since the advent of full democracy.
Ever since, the likes of Bale have been sweating over their future with implications of a hard Brexit affecting workers’ rights throughout Europe.
At the time, Bale’s agent Jonathan Barnett said he was “hopeful” a deal would be thrashed out, adding Bale “would wait and see what happens” before deciding his next move.
The former Tottenham ace has long-been linked with a return to the Premier League – with Manchester United big admirers.
It is estimated that around 300,000 UK nationals working in Spain would need “permission” to remain in the country.
