Ansu Fati signs new three-year Barcelona contract with £144m release clause aged 17… that will rise to £339m


BARCELONA have tied down starlet Ansu Fati for another three-years and set his release clause to £144million.

The 17-year-old penned a new Nou Camp deal by another two seasons, keeping him at the club until June 2022.

Fati’s penned his new deal on Tuesday alongside technical secretary Eric Abidal.

His release clause has also been increased from £84m to £144m.

But it will rise to an incredible £339MILLION when the forward eventually signs a pro contract as a full-time member of the Barca squad.

He said: “Working every day with the best is a dream, and also a reward.

“From now onwards, what I have to do is keep working, even harder than ever, to keep getting chances and carry on on enjoying myself. The rest will come after.”

Fati made his first-team debut against Real Betis aged 16 at the time.

He has since featured 11 times for the La Liga champions in all competitions, scoring twice.

The winger became the club’s youngest player to score a league goal after he netted against Osasuna in just his second appearance.

This season Fati also became the youngest Barca star to play at the Nou Camp or appear in the Champions League.

The 17-year-old is the latest to graduate from the famous La Masia – that also homed to club legends Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi.

Fati said: “For me, La Masia is the best school in the world.

“They helped me from the first day I arrived and I am extremely grateful to everyone who works there.

“They are all spectacular. From the first day I have learned things from everyone. And they have also been there to support me through difficult times.”
