A TEENAGE footballer has died following a kick to the abdomen during a match.
Wassim Jazzar, a 17-year-old player for an Algerian amateur club, suffered the blow while colliding with an opposition defender.
As he went to clear the ball, he was accidentally kicked in the stomach by the opponent and immediately fell to the floor.
Players from both teams surrounded him as play stopped, sparking fear on the field.
Local reports say there was no ambulance or doctors in the vicinity so Wassim had to be rushed to hospital by a regular car.
He was later pronounced dead with the on-field blow said to be the cause of death.
