Why Erling Haaland will NOT be banned for F-bomb live on TV despite Wayne Rooney’s suspension for swearing

ERLING Haaland will NOT be probed over his Prem title F-word interview.

Manchester City star Haaland let slip the expletive as he gate-crashed a chat with Jack Grealish during the Sky Sports coverage of the club’s celebrations.

A laughing Haaland came up to hug his team-mate and said: “I f****** love you!”

Some Manchester United fans suggested the FA would have to intervene and potentially ban Haaland from the FA Cup Final on June 3.

They pointed to the two game ban handed out to Wayne Rooney for screaming into a TV camera after scoring against West Ham in 2011.

But Sun Sport understands that FA disciplinary chiefs do not believe any action is required and that there are no plans to investigate.

Swearing during media appearances is not something that automatically triggers charges.

Charges would only follow if Wembley beaks felt the circumstances and tone of the comments were enough to make action required, with all incidents considered on a case by case basis.

In any event, the critical difference between the Haaland eruption and Rooney’s historic blast was in the timing.

Rooney snarled into the camera during a game and was charged with and suspended for using “offensive, insulting and abusive language” in that context.

By contrast, Haaland’s actions came long after the final whistle had sounded, and were part out an outpouring of joy and fun, rather than in anger.

The incident occurred after City’s second-string team comfortably beat struggling Chelsea 1-0.

Julian Alvarez scored after 12 minutes and Frank Lampard’s side could not find a way back to equalise.
