Man Utd ratings: Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba underperform despite Mason Greenwood’s bright spark

MANCHESTER UNITED put themselves back into a Champions League qualification place – but dropped two vital points.

Paul Pogba was left head in hands after giving away a penalty just before half-time, which Michael Antonio slotted away for West Ham.

Mason Greenwood was on hand to hammer home an equaliser but could not help inspired United to three points.

Here Jack Figg rates Solskjaer’s performers after earning just a point at Old Trafford.

David De Gea – 6

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put faith in the Spaniard after a series of recent blunders.

De Gea made an excellent save to deny Jarrod Bowen, with his finger tips pushing over the bar.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah – 4

Young defender conceded the foul that led to the opening goal after a rash challenge on Antonio.

Following a booking, he was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka at half-time.

Victor Lindelof – 6

Looked unconvincing in an aerial battle with Antonio on a few occasions.

Harry Maguire – 6

Untroubled throughout much of the game with Antonio appearing to target Lindelof more.

Had no problem marking Sebastien Haller when the striker came on.

Brandon Williams – 5

Playing on the left side with Luke Shaw injured, he had a competitive battle with Bowen.

Failed to keep Bowen on his right too often but matched him for pace.

Nemanja Matic – 5

Played the deepest in midfield and while looking comfortable on the ball, he took too many touches at times and slowed the play down.

Paul Pogba – 4

Gave away a blatant penalty by handling the ball instead of heading a thumping Declan Rice effort.

Still looks way more suited in a more advanced role or in a three-man midfield, but has left the No10 role to Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes – 4

Possibly his worst game in a United shirt.

Poor touches, misplaced passes and a lack of energy, the midfielder credited for United’s resurgence looks in need of a summer’s rest.

Mason Greenwood – 7

Fired in an unstoppable equaliser after linking up with Martial.

Looked most energetic of the front three, always a threat cutting in on his left but Hammers closed down well.

Marcus Rashford – 4

Very quiet throughout the both halves, making no runs in behind or out wide.

Not helped by a lack of service from his fellow forwards or midfielders but he never looked like getting on the ball and causing a problem.

Anthony Martial – 6

Assisted Greenwood’s equaliser with a smart ball following good build up between the pair.

But no real help from his team-mates to create scoring opportunities.

SUBS

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Was instantly more of a threat on the right wing and covered defensively with more conviction when coming on for the second half.

Odion Ighalo – 5

Missed a scoring opportunity right after coming on with five minutes to play.

The cut back was just behind the striker, who dragged a shot wide.
