But the North London outfit’s latest sponsorship deal swiftly led to the club being mocked on social media.

One person said: “Spurs has announced a partnership with Coca Cola. TAKING BOTTLING TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL 🤣🤣.”

While another added: “Spurs have announced a true bottling partner 😬.”

And a third really piled in, saying: “Can see why Spurs was an obvious choice for sponsorship. Bottling and a club that needs canning.”

Opticians Specsavers were also quick to make fun of the Spurs-Coca Cola link-up.

They put the two side by side and a handshake in the middle, before adding: “Experts in bottling.”

Tottenham have been criticised for failing to win a trophy over the past decade.

Their last piece of silverware came all the way back in 2008 when they won the Carabao Cup, beating Chelsea 2-1 in the final.

Since then, they have finished second in the Premier League, lost three Carabao Cup finals and the 2019 Champions League final.

A trophy continues to allude them, while the rest of the top six have all won silverware since 2016.

Current boss Antonio Conte will be hoping to change that this season.

Tottenham are currently unbeaten in the Premier League after seven matches, one point behind league leaders Arsenal.

And they face their local rivals in the North London derby on Saturday lunchtime, with Spurs searching for a first league win at the Emirates since 2010.
