Arsenal fans joke David Luiz made ‘perfect tribute to Mustafi’ as red card blunder turns game on its head against Wolves

ARSENAL fans joked that David Luiz made a ‘perfect tribute’ to former Gunner Shkodran Mustafi on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian defender’s awful error on the stroke of half-time turned Premier League clash with Wolves on its head.

Luiz clattered into Willian Jose to concede a penalty – which Ruben Neves converted – and was shown a red card.

The Gunners were 1-0 up with half-time seconds away before Luiz’s game-changing error.

And Arsenal fans on social media at least saw the funny side by joking it was a tribute to Mustafi.

Mustafi joined Schalke on transfer deadline day after just three Premier League appearances this season.

Arsenal were beaten 2-1 after being reduced to nine men at Molineux.

Nicolas Pepe had given them the lead with a stunning strike before Neves’ penalty on the stroke of half-time.

And Joao Moutinho scored the winner early in the second half to punish Arsenal’s ill discipline.

Another tweet read: “David Luiz with a tribute to his friend and former colleague, Mustafi.”

And one more said: “David Luiz making a farewell tribute to Mustafi at the end of what was a fantastic half of football there.”
