PHILIPPE COUTINHO is willing to take a pay-cut to rejoin Liverpool this summer.
Barcelona are looking to offload Coutinho this summer and a move back to the Premier League has been mooted by his agent Kia Joorabchian.
Philippe Coutinho has contacted former manager Jurgen Klopp asking to return to Liverpool, according to reports.
According to reports, the Brazilian has even contacted Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to push through a return to Anfield.
The 28-year-old playmaker has spent this season on loan at Bayern Munich after falling out of favour at Barcelona.
The deal also included a permanent option to sign Coutinho for in excess of £100million, but the German giants let that option expire last month.
Coutinho has been linked with Premier League sides Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Leicester City in recent months but he would seem to favour a return to Liverpool.
His agent Joorabchian stated in an interview with Sky Sports: “The Premier League is something he has always enjoyed playing in and loved playing in, and would probably love to come back and play in.
“The question is what are the financial of all the clubs, including Barcelona and all the Premier League clubs at the end of this pandemic.”
However, the club’s American owners have already been forced to veto a move for Timo Werner this summer, and any deal could be difficult to finance.
Coutinho reportedly earns around £225,000-a-week at Barcelona and the La Liga champions still owe Liverpool a proportion of the club-record £146million-with-add-ons fee that took Coutinho to Spain in January 2018.
And the Reds are unlikely to reshuffle their wage structure to accommodate their former No.10, with Mo Salah Liverpool’s top earner on £200,000-a-week.
However, Barcelona are already prepared to take a hit on Coutinho’s transfer fee and are also willing to subsidise his wages in any loan deal.
Coutinho has scored nine goals in 32 appearances for Bayern Munich this season.
