He has added a much needed sense of aggression to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Champions League chasing side.
But Fernandes revealed his former Portugal youth team-mate Ramos – now playing for Santa Clara on loan from Vitoria – is the one player he would add to strengthen United even more.
He told Carolina Deslandes on Instagram: “It is very difficult to choose, because I have a lot of locker room people who are my friend.
“Wherever I played? Francisco Ramos.”
Fernandes’ progress under Solskjaer was halted as the coronavirus pandemic forced football to be suspended indefinitely.
But the 25-year-old said Jorge Jesus, the current Flamengo boss, is his most influential manager.
Jesus spent spent a season with Fernandes at Sporting, having signed him from Sampdoria in 2017, a move that kick-started the playmaker’s career.
Despite the lack of time under Solskjaer in a United shirt, the Portuguese international revealed winning the league is his ultimate Old Trafford ambition.
He said on his targets as a United player: “To be champion of a league. In this case in the Premier League.
“Of course I would like to win the European or the World Cup.
“Everyone has ambitions, but mine is to win the Premier League “
